- Selected aspects of discourse ontology: Discourse and communication. Since discourse linguistics has been established, one of the leading principles of this new area of research is a congruence between discourse and communication which is regarded to as an opinio communis. A communicative treatment of the discourse unavoidably presumes an overt intentionality in discourse production and reception. However, real discourses are often linguistic manifestations of non-communicative or at least restricted-communicative mental acts. The authors’ claim is that the production of non-communicative and/or non-intentional discourses belongs to discourse practices which are by no means random phenomena. Such discourses are from the ontological perspective kernel areas of the symbolisation of human reflexions. The basic hypothesis does not, thus, recognise communication as a universal ontological base of the discourse analyses.
