Opis:
In this article, we present a novel hybrid approach, by combining the Sawi transform with the homotopy perturbation method, to achieve the approximate and analytic solutions of nonlinear fractional differential equations (ODE as well as PDE) using the time-fractional Caputo derivative. The proposed algorithm is faster and simple compared to other iterative methods. The Sawi transform is used along with the homotopy perturbation method to accelerate the convergence of the series solution. The results discussed using calculations, graphs and tables are compatible for comparison with other known methods like the residual power series method and the exact solution which are discussed in the literature.

Opis:
An extended second order finite difference method on a variable mesh is proposed for the solution of a singularly perturbed boundary value problem. A discrete equation is achieved on the non uniform mesh by extending the first and second order derivatives to the higher order finite differences. This equation is solved efficiently using a tridiagonal solver. The proposed method is analysed for convergence, and second order convergence is derived. Model examples are solved by the proposed scheme and compared with available methods in the literature to uphold the method.

Opis:
This paper presents an analysis of the impact of inertial forces of the electrolyte flow in an interelectrode gap on the effects of ECM process of curvilinear rotary surfaces. Considering a laminar flow in the interelectrode gap, the equations of the flow of the mixture of electrolyte and hydrogen in the curvilinear orthogonal coordinate system have been defined. Two classes of equations of motion have been formulated, which differ in the estimates referred to the components of velocity and pressure, and which were analytically solved using the method of perturbation. Using the machined surface shape evolution equation, the energy equation, and the analytical solutions for velocity and pressure, the ECM-characteristic distributions have been determined: of mean velocity, pressure, mean temperature, current density, gas phase concentration, the gap height after the set machining time for the case when there is no influence of inertial forces, the effect of centrifugal forces and, at the same time, centrifugal and longitudinal inertial forces.

In the present paper, we solve the non-linear Benjamin-Bona-Mahony, modified Camassa-Holm, and Degasperis-Procesi equations using an iterative method introduced by Daftardar-Gejji and Jafari. Results are compared with those obtained by other iterative methods such as the Adomian decomposition method and homotopy perturbation method. It is observed that the proposed method is computationally inexpensive and yields more accurate solutions than the Adomian decomposition method and the homotopy perturbation method.

An efficiency of the generalized tenth order stochastic perturbation technique in determination of the basic probabilistic characteristics of up to the fourth order of dynamic response of Euler-Bernoulli beams with Gaussian uncertain damping is verified in this work. This is done on civil engineering application of a two-bay reinforced concrete beam using the Stochastic Finite Element Method implementation and its contrast with traditional Monte-Carlo simulation based Finite Element Method study and also with the semi-analytical probabilistic approach. The special purpose numerical implementation of the entire Stochastic perturbation-based Finite Element Method has been entirely programmed in computer algebra system MAPLE 2019 using Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg method. Further usage of the proposed technique to analyze stochastic reliability of the given structure subjected to dynamic oscillatory excitation is also included and discussed here because of a complete lack of the additional detailed demands in the current European designing codes.

In one dimension and 1+1 dimensions deviations are not important in the presence of noise. At the same time, they are very relevant for higher dimensions or deterministic evolution. Mostly, in the analyses a correction scale higher than 1280 has not been studied yet. Therefore, the growth of the interface for finite system size [...] value predicted by the KPZ universality class is still predominant. Opis:
The paper addresses non-linear vibrations of offshore jack-up drilling platforms loaded by sea waves and wind in their stationary condition using the perturbation method. Non-linearity of dynamic equations of motion for fixed offshore platforms yields from two factors. The first is load excitation generating non-linear velocity coupling in a dynamic system. This coupling is inherent in the modified Morison equation, involving the excitation function in the form of the sum of the inertial and velocity forces of sea waves, taking into account relative wave–structure kinematics. Moreover, the wind acting on the exciting side causes similar effects. The second source is the subsoil‒structure interaction problem, modelled by a system of springs and dashpots that yields stochastic non-linearity of the dynamic system. The matrix equations of structural motion in FEM terms are set up. The perturbation method is adopted to determine the mechanical response of the system, making it possible to determine response spectra of the first and the second approximations for displacements and internal forces of the platform. The paper is the continuation of research detailed in the paper [1]. It is assumed, that the fluctuation parts of the dynamic loading forces are in line with the direction of sea wave propagation. Sea current and lift forces effects are neglected in this study. A numerical example refers to structural data of the Baltic drilling platform in the stationary configuration, i.e. when three legs support the deck above the seawater level.

Opis:
Nonlinear hydromagnetic flow and heat transfer of a Casson fluid over an exponentially shrinking sheet has been investigated. The fluid is assumed to be viscous, incompressible and electrically conducting. The similarity transformations are applied to reduce the non-linear partial differential equations into the non-linear ordinary differential equations. Homotopy Perturbation Method is used to solve the resulting non-linear differential equations under appropriate boundary conditions. The impact of Casson fluid parameter, magnetic interaction parameter, suction parameter and Prandtl number on both velocity and temperature profiles are shown graphically. Thermal boundary layer thickness decreases with increasing Prandtl number. Effect of Casson fluid parameter is to reduce both the velocity and temperature. Quantities of physical interest such as skin-friction coefficient, non-dimensional rate of heat transfer are solved numerically. A comparison reveals a remarkable agreement between the Homotopy Perturbation Method and Runge-Kutta fourth order method.

Opis:
An unsteady flow of heat and species transport through a porous medium in an infinite movable vertical permeable flat surface is considered. The hydromagnetic chemical reactive fluid flow is stimulated by the thermal and solutant convection, and propelled by the movement of the surface. The formulated nonlinear flow equations in time space are solved analytically by asymptotic expansions to obtain solutions for the flow momentum, energy and chemical concentration for various thermo-physical parameters. The existence of flow characteristic is defined with the assistance of the flow parameters. In the study, the impact of some pertinent flow terms is reported and discussed. The study revealed that the species boundary layer increases with a generative chemical reaction and decreases with a destructive chemical reaction. Also, arise in the generative species reaction term reduces the flow momentum for the cooling surface. The impact of other flow governing parameters is displayed graphically as well as the fluid wall friction, wall energy and species gradients. The results of this study are important in chemical thermal engineering for monitoring processes to avoid solution blow up.

The lowest vibration modes of a composite beam resting on an inhomogeneous elastic foundation in the case of a clamped-free boundary condition are investigated. It is observed that the relation between the frequency and foundation constant has an effect on the valid solution of the problem. An asymptotic procedure is employed to derive the eigenfrequencies as well as the eigenforms revealing that only under certain conditions on the ratios of material parameters. Numerical illustrations are presented to confirm that the obtained asymptotic frequencies agree well with the exact frequencies in the lowest frequency range. Comparisons of asymptotic and exact displacements are also presented and a remarkable agreement is observed for high-contrast beam components.

In this paper, a comparative study of differential transformation and homotopy perturbation methods for transient combustion analysis of iron micro-particles in a gaseous oxidizing medium is presented. Also, parametric studies are carried out to properly understand the reaction of the process and the associated burning time. Thermal radiation effect from the external surface of burning particle and variation of iron particle density with temperature are considered. The solutions obtained by DTM and HPM are compared with those of the fourth order Runge-Kutta numerical method. Results show that DTM has more accurate results between the two approximate analytical methods considered. Also, results show that by increasing the heat realized parameter, combustion temperature increased and it faster reaches to its constant value. It is envisaged that the present study will create tremendous insight into means of properly managing combustible micro particles exiting factories and production process organization.

In this paper, variational homotopy perturbation method with Padé approximant technique is applied to investigate the impacts of inclined magnetic field, flow medium porosity and thermal radiation on free convection flow and heat transfer of Casson nanofluids over a vertical plate. The accuracies of the developed analytical methods are verified by comparing the results of the analytical solutions with the results of past works as presented in literature. Thereafter, the analytical solutions are used to investigate the effects of thermal radiation; Prandtl number, nanoparticles volume-fraction, shape and type on the flow and heat transfer behaviour of various nanofluids over the flat plate. It is observed that both the velocity and temperature of the nanofluid as well viscous and thermal boundary layers increase with increase in the radiation parameter. The velocity and temperature of the nanofluid decreases and increases, respectively as the Prandtl number and volume-fraction of the nanoparticles in the basefluid increase. The maximum decrease in velocity and maximum increase in temperature are caused lamina shaped nanoparticle and followed by platelets, cylinder, bricks and sphere-shaped nanoparticles, respectively. It is hoped that the present study will enhance the understanding of free convection boundary-layer problems under the influence of thermal radiation as applied in various engineering processes.

A Fractional differential equation is an equation that contains derivatives with an order of fractional numbers. Same with natural number order differential equations, this type of equation is divided into linear and nonlinear fractional differential equations. One of the equations that include nonlinear fractional differential equation is Riccati fractional differential equation (RFDE). Various methods have been applied to find solutions for fractional differential equations Riccati, one of them is the Modified Homotopy Perturbation Method (MHPM) which is a modification of the Homotopy Perturbation Method by Zaid Odibat and Shaher Momani. In this study, the MHPM was used to find solutions for fractional differential equations Riccati, which were then used to analyze the convergence of the function sequences of the solution. The result shows us that the order sequence of Riccati fractional differential equation which converges to a number causes the solution function sequence of Riccati fractional differential equation will converge to the function of the solution of Riccati fractional differential equation with the order of this number.
