Objectives Aim of this study was to assess and compare health, quality of life, well-being, job satisfaction and job insecurity between nurses, in a tertiary hospital in Greece, working either under permanent or temporary contract. Material and Methods In this cross-sectional study, consecutively recruited nurses answered a structured questionnaire, the WHO-5 Well-being Index (WHO-5), the Job Insecurity Index (JII), the Work Ability Index (WAI), and the Well-Being at Work Scale (WBWS). Results Included were 323 nurses (87.6% women, age M±SD 43.68±8.10 years). Temporary contract employees had worse quality of life (p = 0.009) and higher job insecurity: both in cognitive dimension (p = 0.013) and emotional dimension (p < 0.001). They also scored worse in the positive affect (p < 0.001), negative affect (p = 0.002) and fulfillment of expectations in work environment (p < 0.001) domains of the WBWS. Additionally, they reported less frequently occupational accidents and injuries (p = 0.001), musculoskeletal disorders of the spine or neck (p = 0.007), cardiovascular (p = 0.017), and gastrointestinal (p = 0.010) disorders, while they reported more frequently mental disorders (p < 0.001). Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that temporary work predicted high cognitive (p = 0.010) and emotional (p < 0.001) insecurity, low positive emotions and mood index (p = 0.007), low achievement-fulfillment index (p = 0.047) and high index of negative emotions (p = 0.006), regardless of gender and age. Conclusions Temporary employment among nurses is associated with a lower sense of job security and well-being, and a higher prevalence of mental disorders, independently of age or gender without a significantly negative effect on their ability to work. Managers, as well as occupational physicians, should recognize the extent of nurses’ job insecurity and assess their ability to work, to provide them with the necessary support and to stimulate the sense of occupational security and work capacity, so that they can thrive in their workplace and therefore be more productive and provide high quality healthcare.

The world has been implementing Building Information Modelling (BIM) successfully to construction projects from small to large scale. In Vietnam and many other countries, BIM is also widely applied in different fields of the construction industry. However, there are still many problems that need to be solved. One of those is to determine the necessary BIM competencies, thereby develop BIM personnel recruitment standards. The article identifies the competencies as well as evaluates their importance when supporting the recruitment of BIM personnel in construction enterprises in Vietnam. Through survey forms such as survey on online recruitment, expert interviews, and survey forms, the study is conducted with Likert scale, relative importance index (RII) for result analysis and ranking the importance of BIM competency for three distinct group of positions in Vietnam. With this result, the authors hope that the study will be an important reference, contributing to the development and concretization of the required competency criteria in the recruitment of BIM personnel in Vietnam and other similar countries.

On the battlefield, modern vehicles perform a variety of roles. Transportation is one of the most fundamental. Operating in different terrains, including urban areas, means exposing the crew to different hazards. To increase crew protection, passive and active protection systems are used. On the other hand, in addition to protection, support of the infantry in offensive operations is an equally important activity. The most common solution for medium wheeled vehicles is a manned turret. The weapon is a 30 mm cannon. Nowadays, there is a trend towards installing systems that allow such weapons to be operated remotely. This minimises the exposure of highly trained personnel. This paper presents the results of a numerical study of the dynamic loads on the roof-plate structure of a wheeled armoured personnel carrier resulting from the firing of the vehicle's main armament. It includes the values of the strains and stresses in the upper plate structure and the forces transmitted by the brackets connecting the roof plate to the bottom plate, and an assessment of the risk of using such a system on the safety of the vehicle structure and its crew.

The main goal of education at a maritime university is to provide students with knowledge and practical skills necessary for future work on a ship. To receive the diploma of merchant navy officer, students are required to complete a 12-month maritime internship. During the internship, as well as during the entire course of studies, students' expectations regarding their future professional work are developed, related to, among others, working and living conditions on a ship, employment conditions and cooperation with the shipowner. These expectations determine the students’ subsequent choices towards a given shipowner as a potential employer, as well as their decisions about further professional development in this field. From the point of view of operational management, it is therefore important for the shipowner to know the requirements that must be met in order to have a motivated and competent staff. This article aims to classify the requirements for students relative to their future work on a ship based on assessing the impact of the requirement fulfilment level against the level of their satisfaction. The results obtained made it possible to indicate those requirements regarding working conditions, the fulfilment of which should be treated by shipowners as a priority, because they determine the students’ satisfaction to the highest degree.

In such a company, intellectual capital management will become a process where any employee will be treated subjectively, and will be a co-creator of the success of his/her organization.

Introduction and aim. Since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, many Ukrainian military personnel began to show post-traumatic stress (PTS). The purpose of the article is to identify the features of PTS exhibited in different age groups in trauma-exposed military personnel during their participation in the psychological recovery program (“Invincibility Program”). Material and methods. Ukrainian Defense Forces military personnel (n=546 males, between 20 and 60 years of age) participated in this study. All participants were divided into three age groups. Determination of the features of PTS in military personnel was carried out using psychodiagnostic tests. Results. In each age group, more than half of the participants in the “Invincibility Program” had PTS characteristics such as the sub-threshold or clinical manifestations of PTSD, adjustment disorders, low resilience to combat mental trauma, and various sleep disorders combined with somatic complaints. The data showed higher features of PTS in the younger participants and they decreased in both the 2 older sets of participants. Conclusion. The age-related features of the manifestation of PTS in military personnel must be taken into account when developing psychological recovery programs: for younger participants, such events should be carried out longer and more intensively.

Numerous studies on the economies of socialist countries indicate that one of the main sources of their weakness was the attitudes and behavior of “socialist managers”. Contrary to the predictions (e.g. by Joseph Schumpeter), they were not characterized by entrepreneurship, innovation, the ability to lead changes or the ability to formulate strategies. This was due to the nomenclature system existing in all countries of the Soviet bloc. Nominations, promotions, but also dismissals were at the discretion of party bodies. It was the main source of the communist party’s dominance in the country and the fundamental factor guaranteeing control over all spheres of social and economic life. Determining why the nomenclature system turned out to be dysfunctional requires considering three issues: what were the goals of the communist personnel policy, what methods were used to implement it, and finally who were the people appointed to perform managerial functions in the economy. We will focus our analysis on the management of Polish industry in the years 1945–1956. This is because it was the most important sector of the economy of the People’s Republic of Poland, and the personnel policy mechanisms developed at that time remained valid until the end of the “real socialism” system.

Niniejsze badanie analizuje rotacje na urzędach krzyżackich na przestrzeni stu lat (od stycznia 1310 do grudnia 1409 r.). Wedle dotychczasowej opinii tenże mechanizm regularnej wymiany zakonnych funkcji, mający na celu zapobieganie korupcji, zdawał się działać do połowy XIV. w., następnie podupadając. Twierdzenia te są w świetle niniejszej analizy nie do końca prawidłowe, gdyż częstotliwość rotacyjna spadła już w latach czterdziestych XIV w., kiedy to młodym braciom stało się znacznie trudniej dotrzeć do tytułu komtura lub Wielkiego Dostojnika. Wyjaśnia to egzystencje tajnych ślubowań w celu wzajemnego wspierania się, zabronionych w 1354 r. W latach 60. XIV w. rotacje spadły jeszcze bardziej. Po śmierci długo rządzacego Winricha von Kniprode, gdy więcej młodych krzyżaków osiągało ważne funkcje, wezbrały one na krótko na sile. Kto jednak natychmiast nie skorzystał z nadarzającej się opcji, ten miał w następnych dwóch dekadach znów znacznie niższe szanse.
The following article examines the rotation on the offices of the Teutonic Order during the hundred years (January 1310-December 1409). According to the previous opinion, such a mechanism for the prevention of potential corruption seemed to have worked until the middle of the XIV century and ailed afterwards. That statement could have been not be entirely true, as the following research shows that the frequency of the rotations dropped already in the 1340s. In this decade it became for younger brethren more difficult to rise to a higher rank. It explains the existence of the secret oaths for the mutual career help which were banned in 1354. In the 1360s the frequency rotations decreased even more. After the death of the long -ruling Winrich von Kniprode it grew for a short period, as more young brethren were able to reach important functions. But those who did not take the chance immediately, had in the next two decades again much lower chances.

In this paper, the issue of teaching professional aviation subjects in the field of higher education air transport was ad‐dressed. We present some research results in the field of didactics of professional aviation subjects, teaching effectiveness, motivation and evaluation of students in education. In this work we present some approaches to the development of didactics of professional subjects in Slovakia. We state that the subject of didactics is the student, teacher and knowledge forming the didactic tri‐angle. Didactics of professional subjects examines the possibilities of transforming the knowledge of technical scientific disciplines into the content of education, didactic systems, teaching projects and the studentʹs knowledge. We researched the area of didactics of professional aviation subjects with a focus on motivating students to study. We managed to involve a large sample of students in the research, which helped us in‐crease the objectivity of the results. Based on the research results, we recommend some measures to increase the quality of higher education of students in the field of air transport. The motivating goal for our research is to support the quality of education at the Faculty of Aeronautics of the Technical University of Košice.

Objectives A significant proportion of healthcare workers (HCWs) had been infected with SARS-CoV-2, which complicated the organization of patient care during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the exact scale of infection prevalence among the group of HCWs is not known, therefore this study aimed to assess the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 infection among HCWs in the Silesian voivodeship, Poland, and to define its determinants. Material and Methods The cross-sectional study was conducted in 2 multidisciplinary hospitals in the Silesian voivodeship during the period October 2021–February 2022. The standardized WHO questionnaire Surveillance protocol for SARS-CoV-2 infection among health workers was completed by 242 HCWs. To assess the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 infection and its determinants, such as personal, occupational, and work environment-related conditions and preventive behaviors, the collected data were subjected to statistical analysis. For this purpose, descriptive and analytical statistics (significance of differences in χ² test) were used. Results Almost half (42.6%) of subjects were infected with coronavirus, most frequently care assistants (57.1%) and paramedics (50%). People suffering from chronic diseases were infected significantly more often (p < 0.001). The majority of the infected HCWs declared previous contact with COVID-19 patients (56.3%). Unfortunately, 10.3% of respondents refused to be vaccinated against COVID-19, most often care assistants (38.1%) and nurses (10.6%). The determinants such as sex, age, occupation, place of work (ward), participation in occupational safety and health training, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), or preventive behaviors did not significantly affect the risk of infection (p > 0.05). Conclusions Even though the PPE was used and the percentage of fully vaccinated HCWs against COVID-19 was high (89.7%), the frequency of SARS-CoV-2 infected HCWs remains high at 42.6% (95% CI: 40.7–44.5%). The main determinants of SARS-CoV-2 infection risk among HCWs were previous contact with infected individuals and the presence of chronic disease.

Objectives The COVID-19 pandemic has globally affected healthcare workers’ (HCWs) health and wellbeing. Most studies on COVID-19 have focused on tertiary healthcare. The aim of this study was to increase the knowledge on the effects of the pandemic on working conditions in tertiary and primary healthcare. Material and Methods The comparative cross-sectional study consisted of an online questionnaire sent to HCWs of the City of Helsinki (primary healthcare) and Helsinki University Hospital (tertiary healthcare). Altogether 1580 HCWs with direct patient contact participated in the study: 895 from tertiary and 685 from primary healthcare. Statistical analysis used SPSS 25 from IBM. The tests used were the χ² test, Fisher’s exact test, and binary logistic regression analysis. Results Primary HCWs were less likely to treat COVID-19 patients (OR = 0.45, 95% CI: 0.37–0.56). However, both groups reported a similar number of COVID-19 infections, primary HCWs 4.9% and tertiary HCWs 5.0%, and workrelated quarantine was significantly more prevalent (OR = 1.96, 95% CI: 1.38–2.79) among primary HCWs. In addition, work-related wellbeing was poorer among primary HCWs than tertiary HCWs in terms of feeling more stressed at work (OR = 3.20, 95% CI: 2.55–4.02), not recovering from work (OR = 0.49, 95% CI: 0.39–0.62), reported mental wellbeing below normal levels (OR: 1.59, 95% CI: 1.26–2.00), and increased working hours (OR = 1.63, 95% CI: 1.25–2.12). Conclusions The study demonstrates how the pandemic has affected the wellbeing and working conditions of not only tertiary but also less studied primary HCWs. Our findings suggest that the challenges identified during the COVID-19 pandemic in the health and wellbeing of healthcare workers are even greater in primary care than in tertiary care.

The tests used were the χ² test, Fisher’s exact test, and binary logistic regression analysis. Results Primary HCWs were less likely to treat COVID-19 patients (OR = 0.45, 95% CI: 0.37–0.56). However, both groups reported a similar number of COVID-19 infections, primary HCWs 4.9% and tertiary HCWs 5.0%, and workrelated quarantine was significantly more prevalent (OR = 1.96, 95% CI: 1.38–2.79) among primary HCWs. In addition, work-related wellbeing was poorer among primary HCWs than tertiary HCWs in terms of feeling more stressed at work (OR = 3.20, 95% CI: 2.55–4.02), not recovering from work (OR = 0.49, 95% CI: 0.39–0.62), reported mental wellbeing below normal levels (OR: 1.59, 95% CI: 1.26–2.00), and increased working hours (OR = 1.63, 95% CI: 1.25–2.12). Conclusions The study demonstrates how the pandemic has affected the wellbeing and working conditions of not only tertiary but also less studied primary HCWs. The authors’ findings suggest that the challenges identified during the COVID-19 pandemic in the health and wellbeing of healthcare workers are even greater in primary care than in tertiary care. Opis:
The article examines the way of organizing the means by which it is possible to detect the occurrence of the human factor that has a negative impact on complex technical objects. The system is an organized set of tools for diagnosing the human factor, implemented in the control system and operating in real time. The article develops an approach to the implementation of the human factor diagnosis method, which consists in identifying a dangerous emotional state of a selected person and identifying additional information that causes the activation of the appropriate human factor. In order to fully present the research problem of the work, an analysis of psychophysiological features of the human emotional state was carried out. Tasks, the solution of which is necessary for the model combined with the human factor, were considered. The analyzed model describes the process of functioning of the human factor and proven methods of organizing the process of diagnosing the human factor in technical facilities.
W artykule zbadano sposób organizacji środków, za pomocą których można wykryć wystąpienie czynnika ludzkiego, który ma negatywny wpływ na złożony obiekty techniczny. System jest zorganizowanym zestawem narzędzi do diagnozowania czynnika ludzkiego, zaimplementowanym w systemie sterowania oraz działającym w czasie rzeczywistym. W artykule opracowano podejście do realizacji metody diagnozy czynnika ludzkiego, polegającego na zidentyfikowaniu niebezpiecznego stanu emocjonalnego wybranej osoby i zidentyfikowaniu dodatkowych informacji, które powodują aktywację odpowiednego czynnika ludzkiego. Dla pełnego przedstawienia problemu badawczego pracy przeprowadzono analizę psychofizjologicznych cech stanu emocjonalnego człowieka. Rozpatrzono zadania, których rozwiązanie jest niezbędne dla modelu połączonego z czynnikiem ludzkim. Analizowany model opisuje proces funkcjonowania czynnika ludzkiego oraz sprawdzone metody organizacji procesu diagnozowania czynnika ludzkiego w obiektach technicznych.

Culture has many meanings and synonyms in Polish - so we can talk about good manners, savoir-vivre rules, social refinement or politeness. Most people intuitively know how to behave in situations outside of work. In recent years, there has also been increasing talk about culture in the workplace. This is particularly important in the construction industry at a time when new forms of employment are emerging and many organizations are undergoing restructuring processes. This causes e.g. high turnover of staff, employing more contract workers, frequent changes in the working environment, as well as performing work on various construction sites. In such cases, the direct and long-term impact of supervision on maintaining safe and cultured working conditions becomes increasingly limited, and all construction workers should take responsibility and adopt an attitude of active and continuous care for the culture and safety of their behavior and others, and be personally involved in the process of shaping cultural and safe attitudes on construction sites. The article defines culture and proposes its use on construction sites.
