Opis:
The article entitled “The strange world of quanta” tries to explain, in a very general and selective way, the physics theory known as the quantum mechanics. In opposition to the classical modern theories – the classical mechanics and the mechanism – the quantum mechanics has been characterized as the new revolutionary theory which changed the scientific method and the way the reality was perceived in the XXth century. The title of this article is inspired by the apparent divergence between the everyday world and the world described by the quantum mechanics. The quantum physics is a theory which has been confirmed empirically multiple times and which greatly influenced the technological development in the XXth century. It is also hoped that it will help the humanity in the future. However, as the theory which describes the micro-scale world it stands in opposition to another influential theory of the XXth century – the general theory of relativity – which describes the macro-scale world. The problem is that these two theories can not be both fundamental and true at the same time, as they describe the two aspects of the same world. This incoherence of the laws of the universe is especially disturbing when we take into account the fact that according to the Big Bang theory the universe emerged from the micro-world. Therefore, the science community awaits the emergence of the so-called “theory of everything” which could unify both theories and explain the processes taking place in the micro- and macro-scale equally well.

Opis:
The universal access to the Internet contributed to the dissemination and popularization of fake news. Their function is quite broad – they can influence the results of political elections, social attitudes and behavior or stock market quotations, and weaken social trust in particular categories of our existence. In the age of the Internet, thousands of new content with manipulated data is circulated every day, without any reliable research that destabilizes the perception of reality. Disinformation is not a new phenomenon, but it has never been such a powerful weapon. The omnipresence of fake news raises questions about the subject side, i.e. senders, content distributors, sources of responsibility for the published material. The aim of this article is an attempt to systematize the concept of fake news and indicate the entities responsible for broadcasting this type of content in the context of applicable law. For this reason, the following hypothesis was adopted: The indifference of approaches in defining the concept of fake news means that the authors and entities distributing content are not aware of the contradiction of the actions taken with generally applicable law. As a consequence, elements of the concept of fake news were distinguished and the entities disseminating this type of content were characterized. The article organizes the state of knowledge regarding fake news and fills the research gap.

Iwan Karamazow będąc w grzesznym stanie duchowym (pragnie śmierci ojca) za pomocą rzekomo pięknej idei o moralnej sprawiedliwości i zadośćuczynieniu wciąga brata Aloszę w „demoniczną eucharystię” i doprowadza go do buntu przeciwko Bogu.
In The Karamazov Brothers the protagonist’s perception of reality changes in line with changes in his spiritual state. Two extreme and opposing perceptions of reality are represented by schematic characters Ms Hohlakova and Father Zosima. The former is characterised by her so called „outward perception”, her voice is the „voice of the world”, speaking about the visible reality and seeking validation from witnesses. The Father Zosima’s perception is, in contrast, „perception of the invisible”, his voice is the „voice of life”, coming from the depths of the human soul, and as such does not require witnesses. Thearticle focuses on the spiritual paths of Alyosha and Ivan Karamazov. Ivan, driven by his diabolical desire for the death of his father, tempts his brother with the ostensibly beautiful idea of moral righteousness and retribution, pulls him into „demonic Eucharist” and leads him to the edge of utter despair. In this sinful state Alyosha forgets about the unfathomable nature of God’s essence and this changes his perception of reality. The protagonist weaves God into human relations based on reciprocity and demands material proof from Him. This is the point where „outward perception”, normally neutral in and of itself, becomes the foundation for man’s growing resistance towards God. In Dostoevsky’s world metanoia is possible, it occurs unpredictably. The condition for metanoia is man’s openness and willingness to accept God’s grace.

Opis:
The article analyses photographic discourse in contemporary Russian dramatic texts as a specific way of perceiving and constructing the reality, as a means of communication, and as a metalanguage. The conceptualization of photographic images in the dramatic text enabled the scrutiny of specific artistic ploys and photographic techniques applied. The article reveals the nature of correlation between the visual perception of a photograph incorporated in the dramatic text, the characters’ utterances and the author’s remarks. The photographic image fosters the rejection or the “appropriation” (recognition in oneself) of the Other by the characters. It also allows for the implementation of the communicative mechanisms used to create the hyperreality of the photo universum. The performative potential of the photographic discourse of the dramatic text materializes itself in such a hyperreality.

Opis:
After decades of research, technological development as well as few discouraging setbacks, virtual reality (VR) appears to be on the cusp of its settled adoption. The incorporation of VR technology into the palette of everyday communication media is not only exciting for filmmakers and game designers, but also for every manner of storytellers: documentarians, journalists, educators, scientists – all professions involved in clarifying surrounding us reality and communicating about it. They all discovered that social change can be valuably stimulated by development of new technology – technology that serves in the same time as a classic medium to communicate and spread this news around. Considering the factors enabling us to capture and disseminate “a true story” in a highly captivating, immersive way (which previously has been preserved exclusively for entertainment and commercial productions), we should mention at least 3 crucial elements: technological innovation, psychological evolution of the viewer, application of VR beyond storytelling. The first two factors mutually interact and play off each other in terms of the changing threshold of perceptual tolerance as well as rising needs of the new spectator. The first part of this paper deals with the interdependency of these two elements. Structured conclusions will be enumerated as a practical reference for VR storytelling productions. The second part of the paper will deal with the third element enumerating the most inspiring cases from recent years – eye-openers for instigating social change, adding value and promoting wellbeing via VR technology. The engagement of VR in social change, innovation and nonfiction storytelling introduced the VR technology within the current media palette. It not only changes the nature of storytelling about reality, but fulfills the story that our reality builds.

The dynamic development of virtual reality technics opened new possibilities of creating visual, audial and audiovisual moving pictures. VR is coming and invaiding XXIst century cinema. There is a grand challenge for filmmakers imagination: show delivering vision of reality or so-called reality made without using real physical objects. Are we really prepared for this technological revolution? Hendrykowski’s paper poses certain crucial questions connected with that change in making movies. Among them: ambigous nature of digital sign, possible regions of spectator’s new experiences, symbolic function of digital images and deep transformation of category od aesthetics in expanding world of multimedia.

Opis:
Nulltopia is disjunction in space, the non-space between one space and another. Such disjunction becomes important in the ontology of imaginary worlds, whose thresholds are not fully traversable. Some knowledge and some exigencies transfer across the boundaries of an image, but some do not, remaining asymmetrically bound, extant only on one side – potentiating scenarios like starving while eating Minecraft cookies. This theoretical study presents an exercise in the metaphysics of digital games, defining nulltopia in reference to dreams, the theatrical proscenium, vehicle windows, video screens, loudspeakers, and interactive consoles; and contextualizing nulltopia relative to immersion. Developing from a syncretic combination of movement and depiction, the video screen extends a technology of imagination that already existed in component forms. Partially separating slow reality from fast imaginary, nulltopia affords both discourse and addiction to the ‘etiolated actual’, in contrast to an imagined, perfectly immersive, ‘society without screens’,the bounds of whose world become imperceptible.
