    The article presents selected and, in case of certain plots, extended results of researches conducted for the Ministry of Regional Development within the works on “The strategy of the development of Eastern Poland up to 2020” (Śleszyński et al. 2011). The topics raised there, among others, include the rarely analysed issues connected with the formation of functional linkages on the basis of registered migrations. The unique data from GUS (Central Statistical Office of Poland) concerning registered matrix migrations (check-ins and check-outs) between municipalities in 2009 was used. The results of analyses point to relatively strong linkages of the region with Warsaw, at the expense of the voivodeship cities (especially Białystok and Lublin) and also quite strong internal polarization in respect of settlement hierarchy.
    Artykuł przedstawia wybrane i poszerzone w niektórych wątkach wyniki badań wykonanych dla Ministerstwa Rozwoju Regionalnego w ramach prac nad „Strategią Rozwoju Polski Wschodniej do 2020 r.” (Śleszyński i in. 2011). Poruszono tam m.in. rzadko analizowane zagadnienia związane z kształtowaniem się powiązań funkcjonalnych na podstawie migracji rejestrowanych. Wykorzystano unikalne dane GUS dotyczące rejestrowanych przepływów macierzowych pomiędzy gminami (zameldowań i wymeldowań) w 2009 r. Wyniki analiz wskazują na stosunkowo silne powiązania regionu z Warszawą, kosztem miast wojewódzkich (zwłaszcza Białegostoku i Lublina), a także dosyć silną wewnętrzną polaryzację pod względem hierarchii migracyjno-osadniczej.

    W artykule przedstawiono problemy, uwarunkowania oraz tendencje i kierunki migracji ludności miast wraz z określeniem wpływu suburbanizacji na rozwój systemów zaopatrzenia w wodę oraz odprowadzania i oczyszczania ścieków. Analizie poddano także kierunki importu/eksportu wody oraz ścieków w pięciu największych miastach Polski oraz zmiany liczby ludności obsługiwanej przez systemy wodociągowe i kanalizacyjne w ostatnim dziesięcioleciu.
    This article presents problems, conditions and trends and directions of the urban migrations, specifying the impact of urbanization on the development of water supply and sewage disposal and treatment systems. Also analyzed the directions of import/export of water and wastewater in five major Polish cities and changes of the population served by water and sewage pipe line networks over the past decade.

    In the panorama of international migration statistics, there is a progressive growth of registrations of Italian citizens residing abroad. In particular, the steady increase in consular registrations based in the People’s Republic of China is striking. The expression “new emigrations” is an increasingly recurrent among scholars to highlight the quantitative and qualitative changes that have characterised Italian emigration abroad in recent years. The choice to emigrate depends on many factors, the very definition of new emigration calls into question aspects of the debate that imply a careful evaluation of the different components that characterize its profile. Which dimensions, above others, act on the choice to emigrate? Which aspects characterize the profile of Italians who decide to undertake an emigration experience in the People’s Republic of China, albeit temporary? New Italian migration in Shanghai is a Skilled Migration? In this article, we will focus on some results of a qualitative research conducted on the new Italian emigration to China1. More precisely, in the following pages we try to bring out which dimensions act in the choice to emigrate and which aspects characterize the profile of Italians who decide to emigrate to Shanghai.

    Od początków istnienia człowieka na ziemi ludzie przemieszczali się szukając dla siebie lepszego miejsca. Główną przyczyną tych wędrówek była nadzieja, że znajdą bardziej sprzyjające warunki do rozwoju. Jednakże w tamtych czasach migracja miała przede wszystkim zbiorowy charakter i dotyczyła zazwyczaj całych plemion, które zabierały z sobą wszystko co posiadały, tj. rośliny uprawne, zwierzęta oraz narzędzia. Obecnie natomiast migracja przyjęła zindywidualizowaną formę. W XXI wieku decyzję o wyjeździe poza miejsce zamieszkania osoby podejmują samodzielnie lub co najwyżej wspólnie ze swoimi rodzinami.
    From beginnings of the existence of the man on the earth people moved seeking the better place for themselves. The main cause of these migrations of you the hope that you will find more favorable conditions for development. People seeking better Land under crops and animal husbandry, and at the alone time rich in natural resources. However in those times the migration had collective character above all and usually concerned the entire tribes which took everything with themselves what had, i.e. crop plants, animals and tools. At present however the migration assumed the individualized form. In the twenty-first century decision it is leave outside the squares of residence of the of personages shall own or at the bridge, together with their families.

    Celem artykułu jest przeanalizowanie problemu migracji przymusowej na obszarze poradzieckim w kontekście zachodzących tam procesów społeczno-politycznych. Kluczowe znaczenie ma przybliżenie genezy, skali i konsekwencji masowej migracji przymusowej, wywołanej konfliktami zbrojnymi, prześladowaniem określonych grup narodowych, etnicznych, religijnych czy politycznych. Niemożność uregulowania szeregu „zamrożonych” konfliktów posowieckich niesie ze sobą ryzyko dalszej destabilizacji regionu, co może mieć niepośledni wpływ na bezpieczeństwo nie tylko obszaru poradzieckiego, ale także regionów sąsiednich, w tym Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej oraz ogólnie całej Unii Europejskiej.
    The aim of the article is to familiarize the problem of forced migration in the post-Soviet area in the context of socio-political processes taking place there. It is crucial to highlight the causes, nature, effects and scale of mass forced migration caused by armed conflicts, persecution of certain national, ethnic, religious groups, and by discrimination. The inability to regulate these conflicts brings the risk of further destabilization of the region, which will make difficult to provide effective assistance to the victims of military convicts in the region, which may have a significant impact on the security not only of the post-Soviet area, but also of neighbouring regions, including Central Europe and generally the entire European Union.

    Migration processes related to the current geopolitical situation in the world and the increasing mobility of humanity are becoming and increasing challenge for current international politics as well as for the Church. The community of faith is obliged to take care of the so-called „people on the move”. This article presents some of the Church’s teaching on migrants. The publication shows the theological foundations of the Church’s concern for migrants based on the biblical texts of both the Old and New Testaments. The article also shows that the migration processes themselves should be considered in terms of signs of the times and a specific challenge for the community of faith. The article also presents individual groups of migrants and the way in which the Church should engage in their care, both temporal and spiritual. This text also presents some organizational mechanisms that should appear in the Church so that it can take care of migrants more effectively.
