    Opis:
    Among the key causes of the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance and the Treaty of Warsaw were socio-economic factors, which were at the forefront and were based on the total incompetence of the communist leadership in production matters. The party nomenclature constantly replaced the activities of the economic structures of the country, ignorantly dictated plans and vectors of development that ultimately led to a permanently low material living standards of the citizens of the USSR and a permanent production shortage. It reached its peak in the late 80s of the 20th century, turned into a total crisis and set the country on the brink of failure. As a result, the socio-economic problems in the synthesis with a quantity of political, ethnic and religious issues significantly intensified the national liberation movement and led to the restoration of the state independence of Ukraine, collapse of the USSR and the alliances imposed by the Soviet Union on satellite countries.

    Opis:
    The political regime, which was rebuilt in the Western Ukraine at the final stage of world war II and can be defined as a kind of Soviet subtype of totalitarianism – Stalinism, has been characterized. It has been revealed the essential characteristics of the political activity of the population of the Western regions of the USSR in conditions of liberation from Nazi occupation, and stands of Stalin totalitarian regime, which was aimed at prevention of any manifestations of negative political mobilization. In the article it has been analyzed the political, legal, institutional and procedural mechanisms of the formation of structures of the Stalinist totalitarian regime in Western Ukraine, in the period after the liberation of the region from the fascist occupation, that were in the restoration and consolidation of the dominant role of the party committees and the formation of a controlled their range workers Soviet, Komsomol, economic organizations, organs of the NKVD and KGB, as an organized force to control political mobility of the local population. The violent nature of the political mobilization of the population in the Western regions of the Ukrainian SSR in support of the new political regime in countering departments of the UPA and OUN underground has been shown. It has been revealed the communicative manipulating-raising mechanisms of the formation among the population of the Western region of positive political mobilization against the new government. The negative consequences of the spread and dominance among the population liberated from the Nazi occupation of Western Ukraine controversial type of political mobilization of the contemporary socio-political conditions and present are under the analysis.

    Artykuł dotyczy dwóch problemów badawczych z historii PZPR okresu 1948-1968. Pierwszy to próba określenia pozycji Komitetu Uczelnianego Politechniki Warszawskiej w strukturze organizacyjnej aparatu partyjnego. Autor starał się dociec, jak dużym stopniem samodzielności cieszyła się ta komórka w stosunku do nadrzędnych instancji – warszawskiej i centralnej. Drugim poruszonym w artykule zagadnieniem, jest wpływ uczelnianej organizacji PZPR na politykę kadrową. Formalnie Komitety Uczelniane miały w tej materii bardzo ograniczony zakres kompetencji – każda decyzja personalna wymagała konsultacji z Komitetem Warszawskim lub Centralnym. Z drugiej strony jednak, jest mało prawdopodobne, aby zwierzchnie instancje mogły objąć skutecznym nadzorem tak szerokie spektrum. Możemy zatem przypuszczać, że czasem Komitety Uczelniane faktycznie podejmowały decyzje samodzielnie. Siedziby akademickich komórek partyjnych były także uważane za miejsca, gdzie można skutecznie załatwić wiele spraw lub przyspieszyć ich bieg. Dotyczyło to zarówno problemów dnia codziennego, „spraw bytowych” jak je nazywano, ale też nadawania stopni naukowych. Zarówno formalny, jak rzeczywisty status KU PZPR na uczelni w dużym stopniu zależał od wydarzeń na ogólnopolskiej scenie politycznej. W drugiej połowie lat pięćdziesiątych, społeczność akademicka uzyskała autonomię za sprawą postępującej destalinizacji. Poskutkowało to osłabieniem struktur PZPR działających w tym środowisku. Sytuacja zmieniła się po 1968 r., kiedy autonomię cofnięto, a Komitety Uczelniane po raz pierwszy uzyskały reprezentację w ustawowych organach szkół wyższych.
    The article concerns two main issues of the history of former Polish United Worker’s Party in a period of 1948-1968. First is the structural positioning of the academic communist cell at the Warsaw University of Technology. The Author tries to figure out, how independent it was, from it’s higher authorities of Central and Warsaw Committees. The second issue taken under consideration, is how big was their impact on the human resource policy? The answer seems not to be that obvious. From the formal point of view, the Communist Party at the basic level (like those at an University) was granted very little power. Almost every decision had to be consulted with the higher authorities. On the other hand, the latter, could have had an limited chance to embrace such a wide field. We may then come to the conclusion, that sometimes University Committees actually were making independent decisions. They were also considered being able to speed the things up – from the accommodation and everyday living problems – to an academic degree promotion. Both – the organizational and actual status of the members of Polish United Worker’s Party, was firmly affected by main political background. In late fifties, as a result of de-Stalinization, the polish academic society gained a limited autonomy. This has resulted in the weakening of the Communist Party structures operating in this environment. When the autonomy was legally halted and then backed in 1968 r., there was a good opportunity to rebuild the status of the communist University Agenda.

    Opis:
    The article presents an unusual metamorphosis of the weekly “Reality”, which from the propaganda tube of the so-called communist concrete transformed into a champion of “managerial” capitalism in the late 1980s of the XXth century. Against the background of the then opening of party discourses for economic liberalism, the article analyses explicit changes in the journalism of the “Reality” on economic topics in the years 1981–1990. It also follows attempts to save the weekly in a new formula under the name “Rondo” in 1989, which, however, did not achieve long-term success due to the liquidation of the party press group RSW “Press-Book-Movement”. On the basis of this specific case, the article highlights the issue of ideological erosion among proponents of “real socialism” in Poland and brings closer the sources of the concept of nomenclature capitalism.
    W artykule przedstawiono nietypową metamorfozę tygodnika „Rzeczywistość”, który z tuby propagandowej tak zwanego komunistycznego betonu przekształcił się w orędownik kapitalizmu „menedżerskiego” pod koniec lat 80. XX wieku. Na tle ówczesnego otwarcia się partyjnych dyskursów dla liberalizmu gospodarczego przeanalizowano wyraźne zmiany w publicystyce „Rzeczywistości” na tematy gospodarcze w latach 1981–1990. Śledzi także próby uratowania tygodnika w nowej formule pod nazwą „Rondo” w 1989 roku, które jednak nie odniosły długotrwałego sukcesu ze względu na likwidację partyjnego koncernu prasowego RSW „Prasa-Książka-Ruch”. Na podstawie tego specyficznego przypadku, artykuł naświetla zagadnienie erozji ideologicznej wśród zwolenników „realnego socjalizmu” w Polsce oraz przybliża się źródłom koncepcji kapitalizmu nomenklaturowego.
