    Opis:
    Two models of two- and three-layers of a magnetic nanoparticle are presented applying the Heisenberg theory with the parameter (exchange integral and closest neighbors) values for surface layers, which differ from the bulk layer values. The difference in the numbers of closest neighbors is taken into account. The corresponding distribution and partition functions are constructed. The magnetization of the particles is calculated by the conventional transition to thermodynamics. The results are illustrated by plots, representing magnetization curves and hysteresis loops for the layer contributions. The magnetization curves for both models are compared.

    Opis:
    A different perspective from the more “traditional” approaches to studying solutions of games in partition function form has been presented. We provide a decomposition of the space of such games under the action of the symmetric group, for the cases with three and four players. In particular, we identify all the irreducible subspaces that are relevant to the study of linear symmetric solutions. We then use such a decomposition to derive a characterization of the class of linear and symmetric solutions, as well as of the class of linear, symmetric and efficient solutions.

    Experimental results concerning the isotope effect on the solubility of gases are reviewed and the theory of the isotope effect on Henry's law constants is derived in terms of the statistical mechanical theory of condensed phase isotope effects. The performance of the method is demonstrated by detailed analysis of some of the available experimental data on solubility isotope effect.

    Opis:
    Non-cooperative games such as the Prisoner’s Dilemma, Stag Hunt, Asymmetric Coordination and others are primary tools used for modeling collective action. I consider formal models that are close cousins of such standard games: Schelling’s games, Kuran’s dominos and partition function form games. For certain empirical problems, each of these formalisms may have advantages over standard games. Among the benefi ts there are mathematical simplicity, more intuitive depiction of represented phenomena, and better operationalizability. I formalize all three models and prove simple existence theorems for two of them. The detailed examples of applications include vaccination, unpredictability of revolutions, and electoral coalitions.

    Vapor phase 2nd virial coefficient isotope effects (VCIE's) are interpreted. A useful correlation is developed between -Delta(Beta-bo)/(Beta-bo) = (-VCIE) and the reference condensed phase reduced isotopic partition function ratio [ln(fc/fg)]*. B is the second virial coefficient, bo = 2pi sigma3/3, sigma is the Lennard-Jones size parameter, and Delta is an isotopic difference, light-heavy. [ln(fc/fg)]* can be obtained from vapor pressure isotope effects for T/TCRITICAL < 0.7. Also (-VCIE) = ln(fp/fg 2), where ln(fp/fg 2) is the reduced isotopic partition function ratio describing the equilibrium between monomers and interacting pairs. At temperatures well removed from crossovers in ln(fp/fg 2) or [ln(fc/fg)]*, ln(fp/fg 2) = (0.4š0.2) [ln(fc/fg)]*.

    Opis:
    A cooperative game in partition function form is proposed for a cost allocation problem. The game describes a real situation in which a payoff of any coalition does not only depend on the players in the coalition but also on the coalition structure of the other players. Solution concepts like the stable set and the core are analyzed. Relations of the concepts in the case of the game in partition function form and of an appropriately formulated game in characteristic function form are shown.
    W artykule rozpatrywana jest klasa gier kooperacyjnych w postaci funkcji partycji opisujących problem alokacji kosztów. Problem ten dotyczy sytuacji, w której grupa aktorów – graczy może wspólnie pozyskać pewien zestaw dóbr, realizując odpowiednie projekty rozwojowe i dzieląc między siebie związane z tym koszty. Gracze mogą w celu pozyskania wymaganych dóbr tworzyć różne koalicje i realizować różne projekty. Proponowana klasa gier kooperacyjnych w postaci funkcji partycji umożliwia analizę tego problemu. Gry takie opisują rzeczywiste sytuacje, w których wypłaty każdej koalicji zależą nie tylko od graczy, którzy ją tworzą, ale także od struktury koalicji tworzonych przez pozostałych graczy. W pracy rozwijana jest teoria takich gier. Proponuje się koncepcje takich rozwiązań jak rdzeń gry i zbiory stabilne na podstawie wprowadzonych relacji dominacji. Analizuje się własności tych koncepcji rozwiązań. Podaje się twierdzenia pokazujące, że w określonych przypadkach rozważane koncepcje rozwiązań gier w postaci funkcji partycji mogą być wyznaczone jako odpowiednie rozwiązania gier w postaci funkcji charakterystycznej.
