    Statistics from the Central Statistical Office (CSO) state that the total number of motor vehicles and mopeds in Poland in 2019 was 31,989,313 units. According to the Central Register of Vehicles (CEPiK) maintained by the Ministry of Digitalisation, the number of motor vehicles registered in Poland in 2019 was 23,878.8 thousand units. Among them, 18,302.4 thousand passenger cars were registered. The constantly increasing number of vehicles on the road has a significant impact on the deterioration of road capacity and drivers’ frustration with parking, especially during rush hours in the centres of large cities. Hence, urban logistics, including the country’s parking policy, is extremely important to a significant proportion of citizens. Unfortunately, citizens have different perspectives on parking issues. Most drivers expect to be able to leave their car as close as possible to their destination, while some residents, especially non-motorised ones, are against the conversion of free city space into car parks. In response to the presented issues, a comparative analysis of selected types of car parks was carried out. This analysis was one of the stages of the project entitled: “Analysis of the environmental impact of a vertical parking solution using life cycle assessment at the design stage” carried out at the Silesian University of Technology.

    W ostatnim dwudziestoleciu dokonał się w Polsce intensywny rozwój indywidualnej motoryzacji a wraz z nim zrodziły się potrzeby budowy coraz to pojemniejszych parkingów samochodowych. Najczęściej powstają one jako wielkopowierzchniowe obiekty terenowe, pochłaniając coraz więcej powierzchni biologiczne czynnych. Stają się w wyniku tego istotnym elementem kształtującym krajobraz, wywierając na nim zarazem silne piętno antropopresji. Obecnie istniejące parkingi okazują się zbyt małe. Powstaje wobec tego konieczność powiększania ich pojemności zgodnie z aktualnymi zapotrzebowaniami. Najczęstszą metodą jest aneksja, przyległych do istniejących parkingów, niezabudowanych połaci terenów – zwłaszcza terenów zieleni osiedlowej. Artykuł ukazuje zagrożenia dla krajobrazu i środowiska naturalnego związane z ekspansją samochodów, jak również sposoby udanego łączenia terenów parkingów samochodowych z przestrzeniami publicznymi i terenami zieleni, co w efekcie powoduje, że tereny parkingów zamiast szpecić krajobraz mogą współtworzyć jego pozytywny obraz.
    In the last two decades the intensive development of individual motorization has taken place in Poland, and with it gave rise to the construction of more and more capacious car parks. They usually arise as large-field objects, consuming more and more surfaces, which are biological active. They are as a result of this an important element in landscape shaping, putting at the same time the strong imprint of anthropopressure. The currently existing car parks are proving too small. In that case the need of increasing their capacity arises in accordance with current needs. The most common method is annexation of adjacent to existing car parks, undeveloped tracts of land - especially the green areas in housing estates. The article presents the threats to the landscape and the natural environment associated with the expansion of the cars, as well as successful merger of the car parking areas with the public spaces and green areas, what as a result causes that parking areas instead to disfigure the landscape can contribute to a positive image of it.

    In the paper there is a preliminary project of automated garage with capacity of 600 cars per hour in both directions. These garages can meet parking needs resulting from an increasing number of cars in developing urban areas.
    W referacie przedstawiono projekt wstępny zautomatyzowanego garażu o przepustowości po 600 samochodów na godzinę w dwie strony. Garaże takie będą zaspokajać potrzeby parkingowe, wynikające ze wzrostu liczby samochodów w roz-wijających się aglomeracjach miejskich.

    Opis:
    The article concerns on a methodological approach to design Rest and Service Areas. Because there is recorded steady growth in food cargo that require specific temperatures its resulting in an increase in demand for specialized transport. Transportation of food is usually done using vehicles equipped with refrigeration or heating. The article presents the design requirements for Rest and Service Areas (RSA), which is one of the most important elements of the road network, that condition affects the safety of drivers and cargo. Based on growth assumptions of effectiveness a functional model of RSA consisting five data bases and nine research tasks has been proposed. As a primary parameter studied in the model was the RSA effectiveness assessed by the rate of parking spaces utilization. The values of this index were estimated according to the share of traffic cars leave the motorway to the traffic flow of cars on the motorway. Evaluation of test results was based on the indicative comparative analysis of the existing and forecasted traffic flows of trucks with loads sensitive to the conditions and the time of their carriage. In the article pointed out that decisions taken in the course of modernization of the national RSA network should be reviewed and assessed through simulation studies of the transport process taking into account different boundary conditions, a risk analysis of transport depending on the type of transported cargo and analyze the efficiency and profitability of the national network creation of parking places adapted to specialized service of trucks carrying food cargo.
