    Opis:
    The following inventory presents parchment documents and medieval impressions of seals stored in the Historical Archive of the Diocese of Toruń. It only includes the archival materials stored in the aforementioned archive. Its task is primarily to fulfil the role of information and aid and to facilitate any archival research. The list published here contains seven parchment documents and five sigils, which are the most valuable part in the collection of this institution. Currently, they form part of the Monastica collection, Benedyktynki Toruń series, Diplomata subseries; initially, they constituted a fragment of the archival collection located at St. James the Apostle Parish in Toruń. The description of the individual archival units consist of the following elements: the number of regesta, the place and date of issuing a document, the regesta of a document in Polish, the current reference code, the physical description of a document, the actual condition of a document, previous editions and the description of seal impressions.

    Opis:
    The act of the Polish-Lithuanian Union of 1569, so-called The Union of Lublin, is preserved in the holdings of the Central Archives of Historical Records in Warsaw in the collection of parchment records (ref. No. 5627). This is the 16th c. parchment document with a large group of pendant wax seals. Until now it was thought that 77 seals were attached to the document. However, during the restoration work carried out in the Central Laboratory for Conservation of Archive Materials in Warsaw was revealed another previously unknown seal. This article describes this seal as well as the attempts to identify its owner.

    The Union of Lublin document, preserved in the Central Archive of Historical Records in Warsaw (in the Collection of Parchment Records, no. 5627) is an extremely valuable relic of great historical significance. In 2015 it was honoured with the European Heritage Label, in 2017 it was included in the UNESCO Memory of the World Register. The 450th anniversary of the Polish-Lithuanian Union, which took place in 2019, was an opportunity to summarize the many years of preservation care exercised over the document by the Central Laboratory for the Preservation of Archival Materials at the Central Archive of Historical Records. Over the years the concept of conservation has gradually changed. Restoration, aimed at restoring the original appearance of the object, gave way to protective and preventive maintenance, which emphasizes extensive documentation of the item and minimizes intervention in its structure. The article presents an outline of the problems regarding the state of preservation and causes of damage to wax seals, which have been discussed and researched in recent years.

    It took King Sigismund Augustus the entire decade of the 1560s to bring the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania together. The plan was finalized on 1st of July 1569 at the General Sejm in Lublin. Before that, intense negotiations were held for almost three weeks, from 10th to 27th of June 1569. The conclusion of the agreement was completed by the exchange of acts of the union by both parties and the confirmation issued by the king, according to the “script” from Vilnius dated 24th March 1569. Evidence of those events is preserved in the only surviving parchment document of the Union of Lublin. It is the copy that the Lithuanian side has presented to the Polish side, authenticating it with 78 wax seals. The document is preserved in the Central Archive of Historical Records in Warsaw, in the Collection of Parchment Records, no. 5627. Before World War II, the document was viewed by professors Władysław Semkowicz and Stanisław Kutrzeba, publishers of the source edition Akta unii Polski z Litwą 1385–1791 [Records of the Poland-Lithuania Union 1385–1791] (Kraków 1932). At that time they saw two other acts of the Union of Lublin, which they also published in their book. Those were: the Union document presented by the Polish side to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (with 140 seals) and the so-called Original No. 2 (with 63 seals) of the Lithuanian document (i.e. the extant one). The article attempts to reconstruct the work of the Polish Crown Chancellery, operating under the supervision of Vice-Chancellor Franciszek Krasiński, which between 29 th June and 1 st July 1569 prepared these documents and organized their sealing by several hundred signatories. In the text, special attention is given – as Władysław Semkowicz and Stanisław Kutrzeba have already done – to the differences between the two documents of the Lithuanian side (the extant one and the lost one).

    Artykuł porusza zagadnienie nakładu egzemplarzy pergaminowych oraz papierowych Statutu Jana Łaskiego. Problem ten rozpatrywany jest w dwóch aspektach. Po pierwsze, przybliżono i usystematyzowano funkcjonujące w literaturze przedmiotu poglądy na temat liczby wydrukowanych egzemplarzy. Krytyce poddany został najwcześniejszy, pochodzący z końca XVIII wieku, przekaz autorstwa Tadeusza Czackiego traktujący o nakładzie Statutu. Został on skonfrontowany z obecnym stanem wiedzy o oficynie Jana Hallera. W dalszej części ukazane zostało to, w jaki sposób pogląd o skromnym nakładzie Statutu był powielany w kolejnych publikacjach. Po drugie, przedstawiono rozważania na temat funkcji egzemplarzy pergaminowych oraz papierowych, ich przeznaczenia oraz potencjalnie różnego finansowania nakładu na poszczególnych tworzywach. Całość uzupełniają uwagi na temat prawdopodobnej liczby wydrukowanych egzemplarzy poczynione na podstawie dostępnych źródeł oraz zachowanych do dzisiaj egzemplarzy Statutu.
    This article discusses the volume of parchment and paper copies of the Statute by Jan Łaski. The problem is approached by the author within two aspects. The one aims at presenting and systemising various opinions, still functioning in the literature, on the number of printed copies. The earliest mention of the printed volume of the Statute, given by Tadeusz Czacki towards the end of the eighteenth century, is challenged and confronted with the present state of knowledge on Jan Haller’s printing office. The tendency to support the view on the low volume of the edition of the Statute in successive publications is discussed and explained. The other aspect of the issue in question is the considerations on the decidedly separate functions that the parchment and paper copies were to perform, their intended use and potentially different financial support for the editions in either writings. In addition, the author gives his own estimations on the probable number of printed copies, using the available sources and the copies of the Statute that have been preserved until our times.

    Opis:
    This article is devoted to the recently attributed eight parchment strips stored in the Сollection of the Archdiocese Archives in Gniezno (MS Fragm. 244). These fragments have not previously appeared in the scientific literature, so the main purpose of this publication is to inform the scientific community about the new sources and their introduction into circulation. All the bits are written with the Ustav script. These fragments were separated from two different Church Slavonic codices as the analysis of handwriting and the content has shown. Six strips belong to the one manuscript with the text from the New Testament. These are two incomplete passages from Eph 3,14–21 and Eph 4,14–16, that allow identifying the original codex as Apostol Aprakos. Two other strips from the liturgical codex. They contain excerpts from prayers, which were read at the evening service on the eve of the feast of the Trinity. The attribution of the content of these two strips has allowed us to consider them an additional part of the Liturgiсon. Those fragments may be dated to the 12th – 13th centuries according to the studies of the material side of the pieces, palaeography of scripts, graphic and orthographic identification, and linguistic features.

    Papier i tekturę należy poddać recyklingowi, ale odpady papierowe zanieczyszczone np. olejem spożywczym czy plastikiem, są znacznie bardziej problematyczne. W szczególności papier zanieczyszczony olejem spożywczym lub masłem (np. pudełka po pizzy) jest trudnym odpadem. Również papier do pieczenia nie może być kierowany jako odpad celulozowy. Rozwiązaniem może być kompostowanie, ale w wielu miejskich systemach zbiórki odpadów stałych, odpady te są zbierane ze strumieniem odpadów zmieszanych, co ostatecznie prowadzi do składowania lub spalania tego materiału. Papier pergaminowy i karton do pizzy zawierają dużo celulozy, a na składowiskach są źródłem CO2 i CH4. Celem pracy było badanie niskiego poziomu łatwo dostępnego azotu i temperatury niższej niż w czasie typowego procesu kompostowania na proces degradacji dwóch typów papieru silnie zanieczyszczonego olejem spożywczym. Jako materiał testowy wykorzystano tekturę zwykle używaną do celów opakowaniowych. W eksperymentach zasadniczych wykorzystywano dwa rodzaje papieru zwykle używanego w kuchni: karton (zużyte pudełko po pizzy) i papier pergaminowy silnie zabrudzony olejem spożywczym. Przetestowano dwa rodzaje mediów stałych o niskiej zawartości azotu nieorganicznego: dojrzały kompost z odpadów komunalnych (MSWC) oraz ziemię liściową. Spadek masy obu rodzajów próbek papieru był skorelowany z czasem procesu i ubytkiem azotu amonowego i azotanowego. Obie badane próbki suche oraz z dodatkiem oleju spożywczego uległy częściowemu lub całkowitemu rozkładowi po 6 tygodniach przetwarzania w warunkach tlenowych bez dodatkowej dawki azotu nieorganicznego. Możliwe jest deponowanie papieru zanieczyszczonego olejem roślinnym wraz z odpadami biodegradowalnymi, aby uniknąć zwiększenia masy strumienia odpadów zmieszanych
