Artykuł wyodrębnia czynniki, jakie wpłynęły na tożsamość powstałej po 1955 roku Bundeswehry. W pierwszej części publikacji opisano pokrótce zmiany zachodzące w środowisku bezpieczeństwa oraz w siłach zbrojnych po okresie Zimnej Wojny, a także zaprezentowano prognozę użycia czynnika militarnego oraz kierunek, w jakim zmieniać się będą siły zbrojne. Przemyślenia te stały się wstępem do refleksji nad wartością struktury militarnej i nad jej tożsamością w XX i XXI wieku. Druga część artykułu rozpoczyna się od przedstawienia bazującego na teorii nauk o organizacji pojęcia kultury organizacyjnej, która kształtuje i wpływa na tożsamość każdej stworzonej przez człowieka organizacji. Punktem wyjściowym zasadniczej części rozważań stał się stworzony na potrzeby artykułu ogólny model czynników kształtujących kulturę organizacyjną sił zbrojnych jako specyficznej organizacji. W odniesieniu do tego modelu, scharakteryzowane zostały następnie wybrane elementy kultury organizacyjnej Bundeswehry. W rezultacie uzyskano względnie zamknięty obraz tożsamości sił zbrojnych RFN w XXI wieku. Przemyślenia te pozwoliły ostatecznie na sformułowanie odpowiedzi na pytania o zmiany tożsamości armii Niemiec w przyszłych latach, wieńczące całe studium.
The article describes the factors that influenced the identity of the Bundeswehr after its establishment in 1955. The first part of the publication depicts the changes in the international security environment and the armed forces after the Cold War, as well as the forecast of using the military factor and its direction in the future. It is the basis for further reflections about the value of each single military structure and its identity in the 20th and 21st century. The other part of the article covers the concept of organizational culture which influences the organizational identity. The main part of the reflections presents the original model of the factors influencing the organizational culture within the armed forces as a special organization. This model is the basis on which the selected elements of the Bundeswehr organizational culture have been characterized. As a result, the view of the German armed forces identity in the 21st century has been described. According to those reflections, it is possible to answer the questions of the direction of the Bundeswehr identity changes in the years to come.

A thesis of this paper is that global changes lead to a necessity of expert managing of scientifical effectiveness. Instead, our thesis is considered in regards to individual creativity. In particular, its effects in publications and organizational conditions fostering scientifi c effectiveness. This effectiveness is chiefly rooted in the creative process and its basic features such as sustainability and susceptibility to external determinants which traits are a subject of psychology of creativity and psychology of organization. Both domains are hence a framework for presented considerations, though offered paper is far from completeness, rather aiming at pointing a direction for future reflection.

Bogdan Walczak, full professor, doctor habilitatus and one of the most distinguished students of Professor Władysław Kuraszkiewicz. Since his graduation from the Polish Faculty of Adam Mickiewicz University in1965, he developed his career at the Poznań university where he was awarded his doctor and doctor habilitatus degrees. At the behest of the University Council of the Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology he was appointed professor. Bogdan Walczak made his academic debut in 1964. Since that time, he has published over a thousand research and popular science works on various linguistic sub-disciplines, with special emphasis placed on linguistics related to the Polish and Slavic languages. The history of the general Polish language and its regional variations have been at the centre of his research. On the other hand, he has devoted a large part of his work to contemporary Polish, the culture of the Polish language and the cultural heritage enshrined in the Polish language, glottodidactics, onomastics, social linguistics and methodology of linguistic research. Professor Bogdan Walczak is also a valued academic teacher and organizer of research activities.He has received many awards, including the Order of Polonia Restituta and the Medal of the Commission ofNational Education for his remarkable research and academic achievements and for his organizational work,which has been of such importance to his alma mater.In 2012, when he retired, he was granted the esteemed title of senior professor of Adam Mickiewicz Universityin Poznań.

The purpose of the paper was to characterize the network structure of science-industry cooperation in Poland. Social network analysis (SNA) was applied for graphics and calculation. Network construction was based on POL-on „scientific projects” database supporting Polish governmental organizations. The analysis was focused on scientific entities and was conducted from inter-organizational and inter-regional perspective.
Niniejszy artykuł stanowi opis struktury sieciowej współpracy naukowo-przemysłowej w Polsce. Dla celów opracowania graficznego zagadnienia oraz dokonania podstawowych obliczeń zastosowano metodę analizy sieci społecznych (social network analysis – SNA). Prezentowaną sieć zidentyfikowano na podstawie bazy „projekty naukowe” systemu POL-on. Analiza koncentruje się na podmiotach naukowych i obejmuje zarówno perspektywę międzyorganizacyjną, jak i międzyregionalną.

Purpose: This study focuses on the causal mechanisms by which a series of organizational factors like commitment, communication, experience, dependence and trust collectively affect on the success of science-industry R&D cooperation. The purpose of this paper is to identify multiple paths of complex causal recipes that can lead to success of science-industry R&D cooperation. Design/methodology/approach: The study uses fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA), a technique that provides a holistic view of the examined interrelationships, compared to traditional net effect approaches that assume symmetric and linear relationships among variables. Findings: Results indicate that different causal paths, exactly five configurations, explain success R&D contracts. Particularly, the findings reveal that the availability of commitment and communication are important, sufficient conditions because they appear in at least three of the five configurations that result from the analysis. In this way, a series of conclusions and implications have been obtained that can be very useful, both in the academic world and when trying to lead and manage cooperation agreements. Research implications: A comprehensive theoretical model was developed and tested that identifies the organizational factors of the success of science-industry R&D cooperation. The presented model and comprehensive research using fs/QCA allows to overcome the fragmentation of this specialized literature. Practical implications: The results contain a number of practical recommendations that can be useful in the conduct and management of cooperation agreements. During the establishing and developing contract stages, it is recommended to design managerial and organizational mechanisms that ensure a high degree of commitment and communication in combination with experience (configuration number 1) and/or with dependences (configuration number 4). Originality/value: Vital value of this paper is the use of fs/QCA, a technique that is an important novelty, at least in the field of R&D cooperation relationships between companies and research organizations. This method allows testing the configuration of conditions in relation to a specific outcome (e.g. success of science-industry R&D cooperation) in a way that is not possible using a linear additive approach.

Well known to students of St. Thomas Aquinas is that he maintained that the whole of a science is contained in its principles and that its principles are contained in its defini-tions. The author takes as his point of departure for this article a definition of money that he gave in the article he wrote for the 2019 Aquinas School of Leadership’s School of Economics inaugural issue for the Studia Gilsoniana: “Aristotle and Aquinas on the Virtue of Money as a Preservative of Justice in Business Affairs and States.” According to him, as a species of economic activity, the definition of money must contain what A-quinas considered to be his generic definition of the science of economics and the es-sential principles he thought this definition contains. The present article he writes is an attempt to unpack some implications contained in St. Thomas’s generic definition of the science of economics of which money is a species.

This study takes its departure in the difficulties to recruit and retain qualified senior seafarers in the Swedish shipping sector. The study focus is on seafarers’ motivation at work for the specific shipping company (organizational commitment), and seafarers’ motivation towards their occupation (occupational commitment), in times of flagging out. It was hypothesized that the youngest seafarers and the oldest may be most sensitive to foreign registration of ships. Statistical analyses were employed, using a survey material of 1,309 Swedish seafarers randomly collected in 2010 from a national register of seafarers. The results of the analyses show that flagging-out imposes a significant decline in organizational commitment for all seafarers. This decline is related to the perception of the social composition of crew. In addition, the oldest seafarers (age 55+) demonstrate diminished occupational commitment under a foreign flag. This decline is related to the degree of satisfaction with the social security structure. Occupational commitment among the youngest seafarers (age 19-30) is not affected by the nationality of flag. However, this type of commitment is decreasing by the time served on the same ship. This effect is partly related to a decline in satisfaction with the work content. In the concluding discussion, the findings are discussed in more details and recommendations are put forward.

The present study focuses on the pattern of organizational commitment and job satisfaction among seafarers working on passenger vessels, compared to those working on board other types of ships. The dependent variable in the study is organizational commitment. Work position, age and job satisfaction are used as independent variables. The question posed in this study is whether the pattern of organizational commitment and job satisfaction differ depending on the proximity to passengers. The material is based on a survey sent to a random sample of seafarers in the Swedish Transport Agency’s register of seafarers. It has been analyzed with descriptive statistics and multivariate regressions comparing the two categories of vessels. The results show that organizational commitment is higher on passenger vessels, while the effect of job satisfaction on organizational commitment is slightly higher for ships that do not carry passengers. For managers in the service department, the level of commitment is to a higher extent dependent on job satisfaction. Development and communication of career options and opportunities for the service crew is suggested as a way to enhance organizational commitment and job satisfaction among this group.
