Opis:
In this paper the efficiency of the System of Production Order Verification in application to service of customer is examined. Its aim is to find out whether a given work order can be accepted to be processed in an enterprise and satisfy the customer’s requirements within constraints imposed by the enterprise configuration and the process of manufacturing of other products. The presented system is illustrated on an example.

Opis:
The paper gives second order sufficient conditions for the strong local optimality of a bang-singular extremal in a minimum time problem. The conditions are given in terms of regularity assumptions on the extremal and of the coercivity of the extended second variation associated to the minimum time problem with fixed end-points on the singular arc. The conditions are close to the necessary ones in the usual sense, namely we require strict inequalities where necessary conditions have mild inequalities.

Opis:
This paper presents a series of new results on the asymptotic stability of discrete-time fractional difference (FD) state space systems and their finite-memory approximations called finite FD (FFD) and normalized FFD (NFFD) systems. In Part I, new, general, necessary and sufficient stability conditions are introduced in a unified form for FD/FFD/NFFD-based systems. In Part II, an original, simple, analytical stability criterion is offered for FD-based systems, and the result is used to develop simple, efficient, numerical procedures for testing the asymptotic stability for FFD-based and, in particular, NFFD-based systems. Consequently, the so-called f-poles and f-zeros are introduced for FD-based system and their closed-loop stability implications are discussed.

Second order sufficient optimality conditions (SSC) are derived for optimal multiprocess control problems. For that purpose the multiprocess control problem is transformed into a single stage control problem with augmented state variables which comprise the state variables of all individual stages as well as the switching times as choice variables. This toansformation allows to apply the known SSC for single stage control problems. A numerical test of SSC involves the solution of an associated Riccati equation together with boundary conditions adapted to the multiprocess. Sensitivity analysis of parametric multiprocess problems can be based on SSC. A numerical example of the optimal two-stage control of a robot illustrates both SSC and sensitivity analysis.

Opis:
Second order necessary and sufficient optimality conditions for bang-bang control problems have been studied in Milyutin, Osmolovskii (1998). These conditions amount to testing the positive (semi-)definiteness of a quadratic form on a critical cone. The assumptions are appropriate for numerical verification only in some special cases. In this paper, we study various transformations of the quadratic form and the critical cone which will be tailored to different types of control problems in practice. In particular, by means of a solution to a linear matrix differential equation, the quadratic form can be converted to perfect squares. We demonstrate by three practical examples that the conditions obtained can be verified numerically.

Opis:
An approach to nonlinear constrained mathematical programming problems which makes use of a second order derivative is presented. By using a second order modified objective function method, a modified optimization problem associated with a primal mathematical programming problem is constructed. This auxiliary optimization problem involves a second order approximation of an objective function constituting the primal mathematical programming problem. The equivalence between the original mathematical programming problem and its associated modified optimization problem is established under second order convexity assumption. Several practical O.R. applications show that our method is efficient. Further, an iterative algorithm based on this approach for solving the considered nonlinear mathematical programming problem is given for the case when the functions constituting the problem are second order convex. The convergence theorems for the presented algorithm are established.

Opis:
This paper concerns second order sufficient conditions of optimality, involving the Riccati equation, for optimal control problems with periodic boundary conditions. The problems considered involve no pathwise constraints and are 'regular', in the sense that the strengthened Legendre-Clebsch condition is assumed to be satisfied. A well-known sufficient, condition, which we refer to as the Riccati sufficient condition, requires the existence of a global solution to the Riccati equation whose endpoint values satisfy a certain inequality. A sharper condition, named the extended sufficient, condition, takes the form of an inequality involving the solutions of a Riccati equation and two additional linear matrix equations. We highlight the superiority of the extended Riccati sufficient condition and develop a number of equivalent formulations of this condition. Not only does the extended Riccati sufficient, condition supply more information about, minimizers, but it is the basis of simpler numerical tests for assessing whether an extremal is a minimizer, at least in a local sense. The Riccati and also the extended Riccati sufficient conditions are applied to a variant of Speyer's 'sailboat' problem, involving parameters. It is found that the extended Riccati sufficient condition identifies a much larger set of points on parameter space for which a nominal control is optimal, in comparison to the Riccati sufficient condition.

This paper improves the results of and gives shorter proofs for the analysis of state constrained optimal control problems than presented by the authors in Bonnans and Hermant (2009b), concerning second order optimality conditions and the well-posedness of the shooting algorithm. The hypothesis for the second order necessary conditions is weaker, and the main results are obtained without reduction to the normal form used in that reference, and without analysis of high order regularity results for the control. In addition, we provide some numerical illustration. The essential tool is the use of the "alternative optimality system".

Under steady-state conditions when fluid temperature is constant, temperature measurement can be accomplished with high degree of accuracy owing to the absence of damping and time lag. However, when fluid temperature varies rapidly, for example, during start-up, appreciable differences occur between the actual and measured fluid temperature. These differences occur because it takes time for heat to transfer through the heavy thermometer pocket to the thermocouple. In this paper, a method for determinig transient fluid temperature based on the first-order thermometer model is presented. Fluid temperature is determined using a thermometer, which is suddenly immersed into boiling water. Next, the time constant is defined as a function of fluid velocity for four sheated thermocouples with different diameters. To demonstrate the applicability of the presented method to actual data where air velocity varies, the temperature of air is estimated based on measurements carried out by three thermocouples with different outer diameters. Lastly, the time constant is presented as a function of fluid velocity and outer diameter of thermocouple.

First- and second-order optimality conditions are established for the boundary optimal control of quasilinear elliptic equations with pointwise constraints on the control. The theory is developed for Neumann controls in polygonal domains of dimension two. For the derivation of second-order sufficient optimality conditions, which is the main goal of this paper, the regularity of the solutions to the state equation and its linearization is studied in detail. Moreover, a Pontryagin principle is proved. The main difficulty in the analysis of these problems is the nonmonotone character of the state equation.

The optimality conditions for Neumann boundary conditions are obtained and the set of inequalities that characterize these conditions is formulated. Also, several mathematical examples for derived optimality conditions are presented. Finally, we consider an optimal distributed control problem for (n x n)-infinite variables hyperbolic systems.
