Opis:
Controller placement problem (CPP) is a significant technological challenge in software defined network (SDN). Deployment of a properly designed SDN-based network is required to detect optimal number of controllers for enhancing the network’s performance. However, the best possible controller placement for enhancing the network’s performance faces many issues. To solve the CPP, a novel technique called the hybrid evolutionary algorithm of optimized controller placement (HEA-OCP) in SDN environment is introduced to increase network’s performance by different network topologies. In the proposed model, optimized controller placement using improved multi-objective artificial fish optimization is employed to improve data transmission and reduce latency. Controller placement can be determined using an undirected graph based on a variety of factors, including propagation delay, load balancing capabilities and bandwidth, fault tolerance and data transfer rate, and a variety of other factors. For each controller, the fitness value is calculated over multi-criteria functions. The optimizer’s performance can be improved with the use of Gaussian chaotic maps. In large-scale SDN networks using HEC-OCP, the algorithm dynamically analyzes the optimal number of controllers and the best connections between switches and controllers. As a result, the overall network performance is improved and the delay minimization-based controller placement strategy is obtained. The simulation of HEA-OCP with existing methods is conducted by a network topology dataset of various metrics, namely packet delivery ratio, packet drop rate, throughput, average latency, and jitter. The proposed HEA-OCP improves the packet delivery and throughput with reduced average latency, and packet drop ensures more instantaneous communications in real-time applications of SDN for better decision-making.

The article discusses a multi-criteria comparative analysis of GIS class computer systems using the Pareto method . Referring to this problem, to find a GIS system (a compromise solution) that would be acceptable for each decision criterion, to make a Pareto optimal decision, multi-criteria optimization was obligatory. To find the mentioned optimum (the Pareto optimum), it is necessary for the decision maker to make a choice concerning the set of admissible decision solutions. Here, a matrix of criteria constructed by the authors is available, filled in with appropriate weights by field experts. This structure is very useful when evaluating the admissible solutions of the resulting algorithm. The space of acceptable solutions in the considered problem task is a set of systems, limited to their eighteen instances, which meet the criterion of completeness of all data required in the conducted research. The selected criteria are the most widely used and most accepted in the environments that systems of this class use daily.

The purpose of this paper is to develop a method for forming the shape of compact ground launching devices (GLDs) unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which includes three stages. Firstly, the choice on the basis of the theory of dimension and similarity of the closest analogue of the design object based on world experience gained in this field. Secondly, the creation of a comprehensive model of the working process of GLD and a universal method for its numerical implementation. Thirdly, the solution to the problem of optimizing the dynamic characteristics of GLD. At the described stages of the formation of the shape of an GLD UAV, a statistical analysis of the technical perfection of known analogues of UAV launch systems, methods of the theory of similarity and dimension in mechanics, methods of numerical simulation of the working process, and also methods of conditional parametric optimization are used. The undoubted importance of the problem of the equivalent development of the components of the UAS, consisting of an aircraft and a launch system (catapult). The traditionally non-priority status of GLD in the general cycle of the complex design program is also known. A systematic solution to this problem lies in the mainstream of creating common approaches, one of which is contained in this article. The proposed method of forming the appearance of compact GLDs UAV can be extended to a wide class of starting systems containing a thermal expansion machine and a mechanical component. In the presented form, the method is not applicable to systems of air, aerodrome and manual launch of UAVs. A method has been developed for the formation of the shape of GLD based on the energy relations of the criterion type between useful functions and the corresponding costs, with subsequent verification numerical studies of the launch processes based on specially created technology of a computational experiment, as well as optimization of the dynamic characteristics of GLD. The method of forming the shape of compact GLD is universally applicable to any type of catapults, regardless of the type of transmission and drive, since many particular forms of organization of the working process are generalized using the criteria of energy perfection, a comprehensive physical and mathematical model and normalization of the starting overload.

The article describes optimization of the process of acceleration of the tower crane trolley movement mechanism during the steady mode of the slewing mechanism. A mathematical model of the boom system of the tower crane was used for the optimization of the trolley movement. The model was reduced to a sixth-order linear differential equation with constant coefficients, which represents the relationships between the drive torque and the coordinate of the load and its time derivatives. Non-dimensional complex criterion (objective function), which takes into account the drive torque and its rate of change in time during the transient process, was developed to optimize the mode of the trolley movement mechanism. Based on that, a variational problem was formulated and solved in an analytical form in which root-mean-square (RMS) values of the quantiles were applied. A complex optimal mode of acceleration of the trolley movement mechanism was obtained and compared with the modes optimized based on different criteria. Advantages and disadvantages of the solutions were discussed based on the analysis of the obtained optimal modes of motion. The analysis revealed low- and high-frequency elements oscillations of the trolley movement mechanism during the transient processes. The conditions for their elimination were formulated.

Countries need to develop sustainable energy policies based on the principles of environmental sensitivity, reliability, efficiency, economy and uninterrupted service and to maintain their energy supply in order to increase their global competitiveness. In addition to this impact of sustainable energy supply on the global world, maintenance processes in power plants require high costs due to allocated time, materials and labor, and generation loss. Thus, the maintenance needs to be managed within a system. This makes analytical and feasible maintenance planning a necessity in power plants. In this context, this study focuses on maintenance strategy optimization which is the first phase of maintenance planning for one of the large-scale hydroelectric power plants with a direct effect on Turkey's energy supply security with its one fifth share in total generation. In this study, a new model is proposed for the maintenance strategy optimization problem considering the multi-objective and multicriteria structure of hydroelectric power plants with hundreds of complex equipment and the direct effect of these equipment on uninterrupted and cost-effective electricity generation. In the model, two multi-criteria decision-making methods, AHP and COPRAS methods, are integrated with integer programming method and optimal maintenance strategies are obtained for 571 equipment.

Opis:
The author attempts to apply a multi-criteria spatial analysis of issues related to urban public transport in terms of optimizing its usage and accessibility. Publicly available spatial and statistical data were used. Desktop GIS computer software was the primary tool and work environment - due to its popularity and wide interdisciplinary application in studying geospatial phenomena, processes, and dependencies. The article consists of two parts. The first identifies the research area, indicates the data used and the methodology of the conducted analysis, while the second presents the results of analyses in optimizing the functioning of public transport in Mińsk Mazowiecki (Mazowieckie Voivodeship, Poland) and recommendations that may contribute to disseminating the use of multi-criteria analyses in medium-sized cities.

The problem of choosing the way to move people is often encountered both in scientific research and in everyday life. The difficulty of this process depends on the availability of many variants and the pursuit of satisfying transport needs at the minimum cost, in the shortest possible time and in the most comfortable conditions. The publication presents a decision problem of choosing the best transport option using multi-criteria methods. At the beginning authors presented the widely used methods of solving decision problems in the literature. Subsequently, based on the example of the Warsaw-Wroclaw connection, the MAJA multi-criteria assessment method algorithm was analysed. Both road, rail and air transport options were considered. Six possible variants of solutions were indicated, which were assessed in three sub-criteria: cost, time and comfort of travel. Then, the results of the analysis were compared with the results obtained using other multi-criteria decision-making support methods, i.e. ELECTRE I, AHP, TOPSIS, PROMETHEE, SAW, PVM. The considered methods were divided according to the way the result was presented, as a result of which the methods based on the relation of superiority (which included the MAJA method) and methods using ranking were distinguished, and then an intra-group comparison was made. On the basis of the constructed compliance matrix of the relation of superiority, it was found that domination methods exhibited convergence of the obtained results. However, in order to compare the convergence of the results of the ranking methods, the Spearman's linear correlation coefficient was used. The applied MAJA multi-criteria method has made it possible to determine non-dominated solutions considered optimal taking into account the adopted weights of criteria and compliance and non-compliance thresholds. Its unquestionable advantage is the possibility of using many partial criteria expressed in different measurement units. In the presented example, the best options were the premium express rail transport and airplane. The summary defines the direction of further research and possibilities of modification of the presented method.

The essence of the article is the use of multi-criteria static optimization of object motion, based on a set of optimal Pareto points in the space of possible variants of solutions for a new approach to the problem as a game control. Using the example of the two-criteria optimization of the final payoff of the object game control during the safe evasion of the encountered objects, six methods of multi-criteria static optimization are presented—Bentham's utilitarian rule, Rawls's principle of justice, Salukvadze's benchmark, Benson's weighted sums, Haimes's constraints, and goal-oriented programming. In the end, the results obtained by the two-criteria optimization are compared with regard to the values of the components of the final game payoff—the risk of collision and the deviation of the object from the safe route of the set trajectory of movement. The directions for the development of multi-criteria optimization methods, both static and dynamic, and the game are indicated.

A decision-making process is considered for a firm, in which two coexisting groups of interests pursue different goals. An original model based on a non-neoclassical production function is proposed. The function satisfies the conditions formulated by R. Frisch, which makes it possible to investigate firms operating in the environment far from the perfect competition and pursuing goals other than profit maximization. A two-criteria optimization problem is formulated with the two criteria representing the goals of the groups: maximization of profit and maximization of income generated by the firm with respect to capital and labor. The problem is considered in two variants of the product market, namely the perfect and the imperfect competition. Solutions of the problem are analyzed including the derived Pareto sets. The importance of knowledge about the Pareto set in negotiations between the groups of interests in the firm is illustrated and discussed.

One-criterion decision making under uncertainty (1-DM/U) is related to situations in which the decision maker (DM) evaluates the alternatives on the basis of one objective, but e.g. due to numerous uncertain future factors some parameters of the problem are not deterministic. Instead of entirely known paramaters, a set of possible scenarios is available. Multi-criteria decision making under certainty (M-DM/C) concerns cases where the DM assesses particular options in terms of many objectives. The parameters are known. Therefore, scenario planning is redundant. Both issues are investigated by many researchers and practitioners, since real economic decision problems are usually at least uncertain or multi-objective. In the paper, numerous analogies between 1-DM/U and M-DM/C are revealed. Some of them have existed for many decades, but others, so far, have not been developed. A careful examination of all the similarities enables an improvement of existing methods and a formulation of new algorithms for 1-DM/U and M-DM/C. The article presents six pairs of similar procedures and contains the description of three novel approaches created by analogy to existing ones.

The authors defined the problem under investigation in the form of a four-phase decisionmaking process taking into account assignment of aircraft to airports and maintenance stations, assignment of crew to maintenance points, setting the schedules, i.e. working days on which aircraft are directed to maintenance facilities. This approach to the planning and management of aircraft maintenance is a new approach, unprecedented in the literature. The authors have developed a mathematical model for aircraft maintenance planning and management in a multi-criteria approach and an optimisation tool based on the operation of a genetic algorithm. To solve the problem, a genetic algorithm was proposed. The individual steps of the algorithm construction were discussed and its effectiveness was verified using real data.

Technological assurance and improvement of the economic efficiency of production are the first-priority issues for the modern manufacturing engineering area. It is possible to achieve a higher value of economic efficiency in multiproduct manufacturing by multicriteria optimization. A set of optimality criteria based on technological and economic indicators was defined with the aim of selecting the optimal manufacturing process. Competitive variants and a system of optimization were developed and investigated. A comparative analysis of the optimality criteria and their influence on the choice of optimal machining processes was carried out. It was determined that the batch of parts made an impact on the selection of the manufacturing process.

The paper presents a framework for optimising a sailing yacht rig using Multi-objective Evolutionary Algorithms and for filtering obtained solutions by means of a Multi-criteria Decision Making method. A Bermuda sloop with discontinuous rig is taken under consideration as a model rig configuration. It has been decomposed into its elements and described by a set of control parameters to form a responsive model which can be used for optimisation purposes. Considering the contradictory nature of real optimisation objectives, a multi-objective approach has been chosen to address this issue. Once the optimisation process is over, a Multi-criteria Decision Making method based on a w-dominance relation is applied for filtering out the most interesting solutions from the obtained Pareto set. The proposed method has been implemented, and selected results are provided and discussed.
