Opis:
In this paper Merchant Optimization Algorithm (MOA) is proposed to solve the optimal reactive power problem. Projected algorithm is modeled based on the behavior of merchants who gain in the market through various mode and operations. Grouping of the traders will be done based on their specific properties, and by number of candidate solution will be computed to individual merchant. First Group named as “Ruler candidate solution” afterwards its variable values are dispersed to the one more candidate solution and it named as “Serf candidate solution” In standard IEEE 14, 30, 57 bus test systems Merchant Optimization Algorithm (MOA) have been evaluated. Results show the proposed algorithm reduced power loss effectively.

Feral Cat Swarm Optimization Algorithm
Opis:
In this paper Feral Cat Swarm Optimization (FCS) Algorithm is proposed to solve optimal reactive power problem. Projected methodology has been modeled based on the activities of the feral cats. They have two main phases primarily “seeking mode”, “tracing mode”. In the proposed FCS algorithm, population of feral cats are created and arbitrarily scattered in the solution space, with every feral cat representing a solution. Produced population is alienated into two subgroups. One group will observe their surroundings which come under the seeking mode and another group moving towards the prey which will come under the tracing mode. New-fangled positions, fitness functions will be calculated subsequent to categorization of feral cats for seeking mode and tracing mode, through that cat with the most excellent solution will be accumulated in the memory. Feral Cat Swarm Optimization (FCS) Algorithm has been tested in standard IEEE 30 bus test system and simulation results show the projected algorithm reduced the real power loss considerably.

Timber Wolf optimization algorithm
Opis:
In this paper Timber Wolf optimization (TWO) algorithm is proposed to solve optimal reactive power problem. Timber Wolf optimization (TWO) algorithm is modeled based on the social hierarchy and hunting habits of Timber wolf towards finding prey. Based on their fitness values social hierarchy has been replicated by classifying the population of exploration agents. Exploration procedure has been modeled by imitating the hunting actions of timber wolf by using searching, encircling, and attacking the prey. There are three fittest candidate solutions embedded as α, β and γ to lead the population toward capable regions of the exploration space in each iteration of Timber Wolf optimization. Proposed Timber Wolf optimization (TWO) algorithm has been tested in standard IEEE 14, 30 bus test systems and simulation results show the projected algorithm reduced the real power loss efficiently.

Opis:
In this paper a novel non-linear optimization problem is formulated to maximize the social welfare in restructured environment with generalized unified power flow controller (GUPFC). This paper presents a methodology to optimally allocate the reactive power by minimizing voltage deviation at load buses and total transmission power losses so as to maximize the social welfare. The conventional active power generation cost function is modified by combining costs of reactive power generated by the generators, shunt capacitors and total power losses to it. The formulated objectives are optimized individually and simultaneously as multi-objective optimization problem, while satisfying equality, in-equality, practical and device operational constraints. A new optimization method, based on two stage initialization and random distribution processes is proposed to test the effectiveness of the proposed approach on IEEE-30 bus system, and the detailed analysis is carried out.

Opis:
This paper presents the resolution of the optimal reactive power dispatch (ORPD) problem and the control of voltages in an electrical energy system by using a hybrid algorithm based on the particle swarmoptimization (PSO) method and interior point method (IPM). The IPM is based on the logarithmic barrier (LB-IPM) technique while respecting the non-linear equality and inequality constraints. The particle swarmoptimization-logarithmic barrier-interior point method (PSO-LB-IPM) is used to adjust the control variables, namely the reactive powers, the generator voltages and the load controllers of the transformers, in order to ensure convergence towards a better solution with the probability of reaching the global optimum. The proposed method was first tested and validated on a two-variable mathematical function using MATLAB as a calculation and execution tool, and then it is applied to the ORPD problem to minimize the total active losses in an electrical energy network. To validate the method a testwas carried out on the IEEE electrical energy network of 57 buses.

Opis:
Hybridization of meta-heuristic algorithms plays a major role in the optimization problem. In this paper, a new hybrid meta-heuristic algorithm called hybrid pathfinder algorithm (HPFA) is proposed to solve the optimal reactive power dispatch (ORPD) problem. The superiority of the Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm is the fast convergence speed, a mutation operator in the DE algorithm incorporates into the pathfinder algorithm (PFA). The main objective of this research is to minimize the real power losses and subject to equality and inequality constraints. The HPFA is used to find optimal control variables such as generator voltage magnitude, transformer tap settings and capacitor banks. The proposed HPFA is implemented through several simulation cases on the IEEE 118-bus system and IEEE 300-bus power system. Results show the superiority of the proposed algorithm with good quality of optimal solutions over existing optimization techniques, and hence confirm its potential to solve the ORPD problem.

Opis:
A two phase approach to obtain feasibility of the Security Constrained Unit Commitment schedules is analysed. In the first planning phase a computationally tractable variant of the security constrained UC problem is considered with a simplified representation of the network flows. Three computationally tractable variants of the UC problem formulations are investigated: (i) UC_NN model without network flow constraints, (ii) UC_NC model with network constraints reflected by enforcing nodal constraints at the bus level, and (iii) UC_DC model by enforcing network constraints on active power flows. These models are tested and compared with respect to efficiency, computational burden and complexity of the corrective actions performed by TSO in the operational phase to meet security and technical requirements of the system.
W pracy jest analizowane podejście dwufazowe do problemu doboru jednostek i ekonomicznego rozdziału obciążeń w systemie elektroenergetycznym. W pierwszej fazie planistycznej jest rozważany uproszczony wariant problemu doboru jednostek i ekonomicznego rozdziału obciążeń z uproszczonym modelem ograniczeń sieciowych rozpływu mocy. Badane są trzy realistyczne obliczeniowo warianty modelu doboru jednostek i ekonomicznego rozdziału obciążeń: (i) model UC_NN bez ograniczeń sieciowych, (ii) restrykcyjny model UC_NC z ograniczeniami sieciowymi w postaci ograniczeń przepływu na poziomie szyn i łączy, and (iii) model UC_DC uwzględniający model rozpływu mocy czynnej w sieci. Modele te są testowane symulacyjnie i porównywane pod względem obliczeniowym, efektywnościowym oraz złożoności i jakości akcji dostosowawczych Operatora Sieci Przesyłowej w drugiej fazie operacyjnych działań pozwalających na uzyskanie stanów sieci spełniających wymagania bezpieczeństwa i ograniczenia techniczne.
