Under the assumption that the optimal control is continuous and has finitely many smooth boundary arcs, we show that the system of optimahty conditions can be reduced to a system of operator equations. Opis:
The goal of multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) is to select the most appropriate of the alternatives by evaluating many conflicting criteria together. MCDM methods are widely available in the literature and have been used in various energy problems. The key problems studied in electrical power systems in recent years have included voltage instability and voltage collapse. Different flexible alternating current transmission systems (FACTS) equipment has been used for this purpose for decades, increasing voltage stability while enhancing system efficiency, reliability and quality of supply, and offering environmental benefits. Finding the best locations for these devices in terms of voltage stability in actual electrical networks poses a serious problem. Many criteria should be considered when determining the most suitable location for the controller. The aim of this paper is to provide a comparative analysis of MCDM techniques to be used for optimal location of a static VAR compensator (SVC) device in terms of voltage stability. The ideal location can be determined by means of sorting according to priority criteria. The proposed approach was carried out using the Power System Analysis Toolbox (PSAT) in MATLAB in the IEEE 14-bus test system. Using ten different MCDM methods, the most appropriate locations were compared among themselves and a single ranking list was obtained, integrated with the Borda count method, which is a data fusion technique. The application results showed that the methods used are consistent among themselves. It was revealed that the integrated model was an appropriate method that could be used for optimal location selection, providing reliable and satisfactory results to power system planners.

Opis:
This paper presents the resolution of the optimal reactive power dispatch (ORPD) problem and the control of voltages in an electrical energy system by using a hybrid algorithm based on the particle swarmoptimization (PSO) method and interior point method (IPM). The IPM is based on the logarithmic barrier (LB-IPM) technique while respecting the non-linear equality and inequality constraints. The particle swarmoptimization-logarithmic barrier-interior point method (PSO-LB-IPM) is used to adjust the control variables, namely the reactive powers, the generator voltages and the load controllers of the transformers, in order to ensure convergence towards a better solution with the probability of reaching the global optimum. The proposed method was first tested and validated on a two-variable mathematical function using MATLAB as a calculation and execution tool, and then it is applied to the ORPD problem to minimize the total active losses in an electrical energy network. To validate the method a testwas carried out on the IEEE electrical energy network of 57 buses.

This research presents a 3D FE method for the simulation of the variable reluctance stepper motor dynamics. The proposed model is used to obtain the optimal minimum energy control law that minimizes the energy injected by the controller. The method is based on the strong coupling of field - circuit equations and extended to eddy current, motion and nonlinearity problem. The linearization technique for the coupled problem is presented. Also the lamination of the motor core is considered. In the paper the open - loop control problem is analyzed. The proposed model is validated by the comparison with measurements. Next, to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed optimal minimum energy control method is applied. In both cases, the examination of the variable reluctance stepper motor dynamics and the steel loss in the core is presented and compared.

Opis:
An optimal control theory based method is presented aiming at minimizing the energy delivered from source and the power loss in a stepper motor circuit. A linear quadratic current regulator with an infinite time horizon is employed and its appropriateness for this type of a problem explained. With the purpose of improving the accuracy of the control system, the self and mutual inductances of windings are calculated using a finite element model. The numerically computed results are verified experimentally.

Opis:
The article presents selected methods and ways of mining resistance as well as mineability index determination with the use of different instruments. The principles of their operation and the way of mining resistance measurement as well as their usefulness in planning of cutting mining machines selection (longwall tumble heading machines) in given mining-geological conditions are discussed. Their advantages and disadvantages are presented and a method presenting actual mode of longwall tumble heading machines' action is proposed. The results obtained with the use of this method should be taken as representative in the selection of cutting mining machines.
W niniejszym opracowaniu scharakteryzowano wybrane metody i sposoby wyznaczania oporów urabiania za pomocą różnych przyrządów. Omówiono zasady ich działania oraz sposób pomiaru oporów urabiania i ich przydatność utylitarną w prognozowaniu doboru maszyn urabiających na zasadzie skrawania (ścianowe kombajny bębnowe) do konkretnych warunków górniczo-geologicznych. Przedstawiono ich zalety oraz wady i wskazano na metodę która w najlepszy sposób oddaje ich charakter pracy a tym samym uzyskane tą metodą wyniki mogą być uznane jako reprezentatywne.

Artykuł przedstawia wyniki przeprowadzonych badań teoretycznych dotyczących zastosowania metody gradientów sprzężonych do rozwiązywania problemu sterowania optymalnego wysokością lotu czterowirnikowego bezzałogowego statku powietrznego (BSP). Ze względu na różnice w strategii sterowania mające wpływ na postać minimalizowanego funkcjonału jakości, problem rozdzielono na dwa zagadnienia – zmianę wysokości oraz stabilizację wysokości. Przeprowadzone analizy pozwoliły na określenie wpływu zmian postaci funkcjonału jakości, jego parametrów czasowych oraz współczynników wagowych na wyznaczoną za pomocą metody gradientów sprzężonych optymalną trajektorię stanu i sterowanie czterowirnikowego BSP podczas zmiany wysokości lotu oraz jej stabilizacji.
This paper presents results of studies on the usage of conjugate gradient method for solving optimal control problem of flight altitude control of a quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Due to the differences in the control strategy affecting the character of minimized quality functional, the problem was resolved on two issues: changing the flight altitude and altitude stabilization. Conducted researches allowed to determine the impact of changes in the form of a quality functional as well as of its timing and weighting factors on the designated optimal control and state trajectory of a quadrotor UAV using conjugate gradient method during changing and stabilizing flight altitude.

This article aims at giving a simplified presentation of a new adaptive semi-Lagrangian scheme for solving the (1 + 1)- dimensional Vlasov-Poisson system, which was developed in 2005 with Michel Mehrenberger and first described in (Campos Pinto and Mehrenberger, 2007). The main steps of the analysis are also given, which yield the first error estimate for an adaptive scheme in the context of the Vlasov equation. This article focuses on a key feature of our method, which is a new algorithm to transport multiscale meshes along a smooth flow, in a way that can be said optimal in the sense that it satisfies both accuracy and complexity estimates which are likely to lead to optimal convergence rates for the whole numerical scheme. From the regularity analysis of the numerical solution and how it gets transported by the numerical flow, it is shown that the accuracy of our scheme is monitored by a prescribed tolerance parameter \epsilon which represents the local interpolation error at each time step. As a consequence, the numerical solutions are proved to converge in L\infty towards the exact ones as \epsilon and \delta t tend to zero, and in addition to the numerical tests presented in (Campos Pinto and Mehrenberger, 2007), some complexity bounds are established which are likely to prove the optimality of the meshes.

In this paper the statement of the problem is formulated and the mathematical model of optimization the placement of the undirected planar geometrical objects with piecewise non-linear boundaries in the multiply area is developed. It is shown the geometrical interpretation and derived the estimate of the number of restrictions in the model. On the basis of a mathematical model for finding the global extremum of the objective function was proposed modified method of branches and boundaries. It is also shown the solutions tree that takes into account the problems of optimal placement of undirected planar geometrical object with piecewise nonlinear boundaries in the multiply area, and received the complexity of this method. For locally optimal solutions of the problem modified simulated annealing method has been developed. Thus the analytical expressions for the function of energy system were received, the function, that describes the decrease of temperature over time, function that forms a new state of system. The method of formation the new state of the system was investigated in more detail, which is based on a random permutation of numbers the pair of the objects, it is also based on a consistent placement of objects according to reshuffle their numbers and determining the probability of transition to a new state. It is shown the example of determining permissible points of placement the local coordinate system of the specific geometrical object. The conclusion is that to solve practical optimization problems of placement of the undirected planar geometrical objects with piecewise non-linear boundaries in the multiply area should be used the modified simulated annealing method.

This paper addresses the numerical solution of optimal control problems for systems described by ordinary differential equations with control constraints. The state equation is discretized by a general explicit Runge-Kutta scheme and the controls are approximated by functions that are piecewise polynomial, but not necessarily continuous. We then propose an approximate gradient projection method that constructs sequences of discrete controls and progressively refines the discretization. Instead of using the exact discrete cost derivative, which usually requires tedious calculations, we use here an approximate derivative of the cost functional denned by discretizing the continuous adjoint equation by the same Runge-Kutta scheme backward and the integral involved by a Newton-Cotes integration rule, both involving maximal order intermediate approximations. The main result is that strong accumulation points in L2, if they exist, of sequences generated by this method satisfy the weak necessary conditions for optimality for the continuous problem. In the unconstrained case and under additional assumptions, we prove strong convergence in L2 and derive an a posteriori error estimate. Finally, numerical examples are given.

We consider an optimal control problem for systems governed by ordinary differential equations with control constraints. Since no convexity assumptions are made on the data, the problem is reformulated in relaxed form. The relaxed state equation is discretized by the implicit trapezoidal scheme and the relaxed controls are approximated by piecewise constant relaxed controls. We then propose a combined descent and discretization method that generates sequences of discrete relaxed controls and progressively refines the discretization. Since here the adjoint of the discrete state equation is not defined, we use, at each iteration, an approximate derivative of the cost functional defined by discretizing the continuous adjoint equation and the integral involved by appropriate trapezoidal schemes. It is proved that accumulation points of sequences constructed by this method satisfy the strong relaxed necessary conditions for optimality for the continuous problem. Finally, the computed relaxed controls can be easily approximated by piecewise constant classical controls.

We consider an optimal control problem for systems governed by semilinear parabolic partial differential equations with control and state constraints, without any convexity assumptions. A discrete optimization method is proposed to solve this problem in its relaxed form which combines a penalized Armijo type method with a finite element discretization and constructs sequences of discrete Gamkrelidze relaxed controls. Under appropriate assumptions, we prove that accumulation points of these sequences satisfy the relaxed Pontryagin necessary conditions for optimality. Moreover, we show that the Gamkrelidze controls thus generated can be replaced by simulating piecewise constant classical controls.

Based on the elaborated calculation method he authors method for determining the wear and durability of gears was employed to measure the maximum contact pressures, linear wear of teeth and durability of the gear with height correction of the profile. The optimal condition width in involute helical gears is indicated ensuring constant length of the line of contact between the meshing gears. As a result, it was possible to determine variations in the parameters for the optimized gear describing the meshing gears at different values of the profile correction coefficients.

On the basis of the elaborated calculation method, the optimal width in involute helical gears was determined ensuring a constant length of the line of contact between the meshing gears that is based on the novel method for determining the wear and durability of the gears which was employed to measure the maximum contact pressures, linear wear of teeth and durability of the gear with angular correction of the profile. It was possible to determine the variations in the parameters for the optimized gear describing the meshing gears at different values of the profile correction coefficients.

This paper considers the multi-criteria optimal control problem in linear time-invariant systems with a single bounded input. It has been proven that, under certain assumptions, a state trajectory is non-dominated throughout the whole control process if and only if it is yielded by a control signal that belongs to a particular class of bang-bang functions. Furthermore, an explicit formula relating hyperplanes tangent to an attainable set and control switching times is presented.
W artykule rozważono problem wielokryterialnego sterowania optymalnego w liniowym stacjonarnym systemie dynamicznym z jednym wejściem przyjmującym wartości z ograniczonego przedziału. W szczególności udowodniono, że przy spełnieniu określonych założeń trajektoria stanu jest niezdominowana w trakcie całego procesu sterowania wtedy i tylko wtedy, gdy jest generowana przez sterowanie należące do pewnej klasy sygnałów typu bang-bang. Ponadto został przedstawiony wzór pozwalający wyrazić hiperpłaszczyznę styczną do zbioru osiągalnego w funkcji czasów przełączeń sygnału sterującego.
