Opis:
The optical methods of coordinate measuring are a tool that have been more and more frequently used in biometrological applications, due to their advantages. The object of this paper is to set the accuracy of modelling solids of revolution whose shapes and measurements find their application in medical diagnostics with the use of three measurement systems employing laser and structured light. The carry out the studies, a coordinate measuring machine LK CMM with LC60Dx laser scanner, a coordinate measuring Romer Absolute Arm 7320SI with HP-L-20.8 laser scanner and an optical Scan 3D Qualify scanner were used. The use of coordinate technique to analyze the shape of the model solids allowed for the comparison of accuracy of optical methods with reference to standards digitally modelled based in measurements made by CMM Leitz PMM 12106. The most preferable contactless system to render the shape of solids of revolution is the LK CMM with LC60Dx laser scanner.

Opis:
In the paper, an effective way to design asymmetrical optics for a uniform vertical surface illumination was presented. Assessment of the obtained distribution of luminance (illuminance) on the illuminated surface is done almost at the same time as designing the optical system elements. Advantage of the final application of the presented method in 3D will be independence from the implementation of time-consuming simulations in order to verify the already designed optics. Understanding the method and its application is simple and intuitive. Observing the luminance distribution, created on the illuminated surface almost at the same time as its design, allows to see the effect of adding the next elements of the optical system on this distribution.

We present 30 fs pulse duration home-made chirped pulse amplification Ti:sapphire laser system operating at a repetition rate of 1 kHz with 4.0 mJ pulse energy. The Ti:sapphire laser system with ım819 nm center wavelength has a long-cavity oscillator, four pass grating stretcher, 8-pass pre-amplifier, 4-pass post-amplifier and a double pass grating compressor. The Peltier coolers and thermal eigenmode post-amplifier are introduced to compensate the thermal lensing of the crystal in the amplifiers and to enhance the beam focusability on the crystal. The Strehl ratio and M² value measured by employing the Shack-Hartman wavefront sensor HASO4 to observe the spatial profile and beam quality. The most sensitive single-shot second harmonic generation frequency-resolved optical gating diagnostic technique is employed to characterize intensity and phase of the output compressed laser pulses.

Opis:
This paper presents modern methods for designing optical systems for luminaires in the context of long years of light sources development. It shows that the development of technology for producing increasingly precise optical systems has led to an evolution in the construction of luminaires with increased efficacy and utilizing more efficiently the features of a specific family of light sources. Methods for designing and modelling optical systems with the use of mathematical curves as well as advanced the free-forming method are described. The paper also shows methods for modelling light sources features, especially luminance ones, designed to make precise simulation calculations required in any luminaire design process. Knowledge of luminance distributions of light sources and precise luminance distributions of optical systems for luminaires raises the design process to a very high level, enabling positive modern light source features, such as high luminance and their small dimensions, to be used consciously while minimizing negative ones, such as discomfort glare, caused by luminaires. The paper presents the results of simulation calculations and laboratory measurements for a selected case of luminaire equipped with a discharge lamp of maximum luminance exceeding 30 million cd/m2.

Opis:
Designing, optimizing and analyzing optical systems as part of the implementation process into production of modern luminaires require using advanced simulation and computational methods. The progressive miniaturization of LED (light emitting diode) chips and growth in maximum luminance values, achieving up to 108 cd/m2, require constructing very accurate geometries of reflector and lens systems producing complex luminous intensity distributions while reducing discomfort glare levels. Currently, the design process cannot function without advanced simulation methods. Today’s simulation methods in the lighting technology offer very good results as far as relatively large conventional light sources such as halogen lamps, metal halide lamps and high pressure sodium lamps are concerned. Unfortunately, they often fail in the case of chip-on-board LED light sources whose luminous surface dimensions are increasingly often contained inside a cube of the side length below 1mm. With the high sensitivity of such small chips and lenses with dimensions ranging from a just a few to between 10 and 20 mm, which is presented in this paper, modern luminance distribution measurement methods, luminance modelling and ray tracing methods should be used to minimize any errors arising from incorrectly projecting the design in the final physical model. Also, very importantly, focus should be directed towards reducing a chance of making a mistake while collimating the position of the light source inside the optical system. The paper presents a novel simulation calculation method enriched with an analysis of optical system sensitivity to a light source position. The results of simulation calculations are compared with the results of laboratory measurements for corresponding systems.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) function in a growing number both military and civil applications. One of commonly undertaken tasks is an observation in its broadest sense. The observation involves using different kinds of sensors which often take form of electro-optical gimbals i.e. cameras placed in a mechatronic system which enables change of camera orientation toward a carrier. Developing control algorithms for the electro-optical gimbals as well as for the cameras, one should consider a number of parameters connected not only with the construction of the gimbal but also with its work conditions, especially including the capabilities of the carrier. The article presents the elementary information on the electro-optical gimbal, with special emphasis on a two axis gimbal dedicated to installing on board UAV. The designed and realized test stand for electro-optical gimbals simulation tests, which have been perfomed with the use of Matlab/Simulink, is also described in the article. The test stand allows testing the control algorithms via simulation of carrier behavior. It also enables parameterization on the basis of recorded UAV real flights as well as using forced set values not existing during real flights.

We present a prototype of a simple, low-cost setup for a fast scatterometric surface texture measurements. We used a total integrated scatter method (TIS) with a semiconductor laser (λ = 638 nm) and a Si photodiode. Using our setup, we estimated the roughness parameters Rq for two reference surfaces (Al mirrors with flatness λ/10) and seven equal steel plates to compare. The setup is easily adaptable for a fast, preliminary manufacturing quality control. We show is possible to construct a low-cost measurement system with nanometric precision.

Opis:
Digital photoelasticity is an important optical metrology follow-up for stress and strain analysis using full-field digital photographic images. Advances in digital image processing, data acquisition, procedures for pattern recognition and storage capacity enable the use of the computer-aided technique in automation and facilitate improvement of the digital photoelastic technique. The objective of this research is to find new equations for a novel phase-shifting method in digital photoelasticity. Some innovations are proposed. In terms of phaseshifting, only the analyzer is rotated, and the other equations are deduced by applying a new numerical technique instead of the usual algebraic techniques. This approach can be used to calculate a larger sequence of images. Each image represents a pattern and a measurement of the stresses present in the object. A decrease in the mean errors was obtained by increasing the number of observations. A reduction in the difference between the theoretical and experimental values of stresses was obtained by increasing the number of images in the equations for calculating phase. Every photographic image has errors and random noise, but the uncertainties due to these effects can be reduced with a larger number of observations. The proposed method with many images and high accuracy is a good alternative to the photoelastic techniques.

Opis:
The paper presents a method for estimating the uncertainty of optical coordinate measurement based on the use of information about the geometry and the size of measured object as well as information about the measurement system, i.e. maximum permissible error (MPE) of the machine, selection of a sensor, and also the required measurement accuracy, the number of operators, measurement strategy and external conditions contained in the developed uncertainty database. Estimation of uncertainty is done with the use of uncertainties of measurements of basic geometry elements determined by methods available in the Laboratory of Coordinate Metrology at Cracow University of Technology (LCM CUT) (multi-position, comparative and developed in the LCM CUT method dedicated for non-contact measurements) and then with the use of them to determine the uncertainty of a given measured object. Research presented in this paper are aimed at developing a complete database containing all information needed to estimate the measurement uncertainty of various objects, even of a very complex geometry based on previously performed measurements.
