Opis:
Modern robotics brings up a variety of new challenges. Industrial-only times are gone forever. Nowadays, by performing many diversified services, robots turned out to be a part of our everyday life. There is no doubt that they should be able to interact with this new miscellaneous environment seamlessly. Along with the number of requirements, the importance of software increases. While gaining more autonomy, besides standard motion control, a wide range of cogntive tasks has to be executed simultaneously. It is quite obvious that complex systems with a lot of independent modules and many functions to perform need flexible and reliable sofware solutions. This article takes a Real-Time Operating System as an answer to the problems of the new generation robotics.By comparing selected features, it provides an evaluation of the most popular commercial and non-commercial solutions. Paper describes the key characteristics that should be taken into consideration during the design process and presents several examples of their successful robotic applications, including our own choices for decentralized controllers.

Due to the functionality, usability and license conditions the Linux operating system is becoming popular. Among the many distribution types, USB bootable Linux should be distinguished. The paper presents the functionality and usability of the cdlinux.pl distribution that works directly from a USB drive. Distribution is secure, portable and flexible. Distribution provides permanent storage of data generated by user applications. The system can be run directly from the media connected via USB, without installing on your hard disk, which creates the possibility of its widespread use.

Communication platform systems as, e.g., advanced telecommunication computing architecture (ATCA) standard blades located in standardized chassis, provides high level communication services between system peripherals. Each ATCA blade brings dedicated functionality to the system but can as well exist as separated host responsible for servicing set of task. According to platform philosophy these parts of system can be quite independent against another solutions provided by competitors. Each system design can be different and can face with many computer systems design problems. One of the most difficult design problems to solve is system integration with a set of components running on different operating system levels. This paper presents Linux scheduler improvement possibility to make user space application classified as time demanding (required to be serviced by CPU in given amount of time) running in user space together with complicated kernel software structure in the system.

In order to improve operation skill of the operators, the design of the auxiliary intelligent operating system of the dragline was studied. Whereby the gyroscopes incorporated in smartphone and data sequence filter algorithm, the automatic collection function of operation cycle, the rotation angle and other parameters of the dragline are attained. In line with the relations among the rotation angle of equipment operation, time-spent and the acceleration, the ratio of the acceleration and deceleration rotation angle in full load rotation and non-loaded return stage are acquired respectively. The function of bucket in rotation was realized. Comprehensive score calculation standard of the technique level of the dragline-based operation was developed, and the function of automatic checking the operation level was effectuated. Field experiment results indicated that the operators’ faults are markedly reduced as the auxiliary intelligent operating system is employed. By using the system the operation behavior of low power slow rotation in rain, snow, low atmospheric pressure and other severe weather conditions can be reduced, assuring all-weather efficient and safe operation of dragline.

W artykule tym przedstawiono problem wyszukiwania informacji w dziennikach systemowych. Zapisy z dzienników pozwalają na rozwiązanie wielu problemów nieprawidłowego działania systemu, czy wybranej aplikacji. Zastosowana procedura przetwarzania potokowego składa się z kilku etapów i jest bardzo elastyczna. Można ją łatwo zmodyfikować i wykorzystać do innych zastosowań.
This article presents the problem of searching for information in the system log. Records from the logs allow you to solve many problems of a system malfunction. The procedure of processing pipeline consists of several steps and it is very flexible. It can be easily modified and used for other applications.

Background: With an increase of the number of features in a vehicle, the computational requirements also increase, and vehicles may contain up to 100 Electronic Control Units (ECUs) to accommodate these requirements. For cost-effectiveness reasons, amongst others, it is considered desirable to limit the growth of, or preferably reduce, the number of ECUs. To that end, mixed criticality is a promising approach that received a lot of attention in the literature, primarily from a theoretical perspective. Aim: In this paper, we address mixed criticality from a practical perspective. Our prime goal is to extend an OSEK-compliant real-time operating system (RTOS) with mixed criticality support, enabling such support in the automotive domain. In addition, we aim at a system (i) supporting more than two criticality levels; (ii) with minimal overhead upon an increase of the so-called criticality level indicator of the system; (iii) requiring no changes to an underlying operating system; and (iv) featuring further extensions, such as hierarchical scheduling and multi-core. Method: We used the so-called adaptive mixed criticality (AMC) scheme as a starting point for mixed criticality. We extended that scheme from two to more than two criticality levels (satisfying (i)) and complemented it with specified behavior for criticality level changes. We baptized our extended scheme AMC*. Rather than selecting a specific OSEK-compliant RTOS, we selected ExSched, an operating system independent external CPU scheduler framework for real-time systems, which requires no modifications to the original operating system source code (satisfying (iii)) and features further extensions (satisfying (iv))). Results: Although we managed to build a functional prototype of our system, our experience with ExSched made us decide to rebuild the system with a specific OSEK-compliant RTOS, being µC/OS-II. We also briefly report upon our experience with AMC* and suggest directions for improvements. Conclusions: Compared to extending ExSched with AMC*, extending µC/OS-II turned out to be straightforward. Although we now have a basic system operational and available for experimentation, enhancements of the AMC*-scheme are considered desirable before exploitation in a vehicle. Mobile devices are widely replacing the standard personal computers thanks to their small size and userfriendly use. As a consequence, the amount of information, often confidential, exchanged through these devices is raising. This makes them potential targets of malicious network hackers. The use of simple passwords or PIN are not sufficient to provide a suitable security level for those applications requiring high protection levels on data and services. In this paper a biometric authentication system, as a running Android application, has been developed and implemented on a real mobile device. A system test on real users has been also carried out in order to evaluate the human-machine interaction quality, the recognition accuracy of the proposed technique, and the scheduling latency of the operating system and its degree of acceptance. Several measures, such as system usability, users satisfaction, and tolerable speed for identification, have been carried out in order to evaluate the performance of the proposed approach.

This paper shows that the organization of computer system memory as a hierarchical structure can lead to the existence of long-memory effect during the man-computer interaction. As a point of reference, the rate at which the operating system resolves data from hard drive caused by the hardware page faults in the virtual memory mechanism can be given. The existence of such a phenomenon can be considered in terms of statistical mechanics and Hurst parameter.

Standardized and universal solutions for industrial robot integration are increasingly urgent requirements for companies looking for machine interconnectivity, and flexibility in creating tailor made manufacturing systems. These solutions must be supported by modular and open-source components able to easily integrate new control methods and advanced Extended Reality (XR) interfaces. Robot Operating System (ROS) has proven to be a reliable standard for industrial robot integration. ROS compatibility software is provided by many producers and allows for the implementation of modular control units by unifying development practices along the same libraries and methods. Digital Twins (DT) of industrial equipment and processes offer a solid base to develop innovative digital tools relying on synchronization between physical and digital entities and to easily setup intuitive XR interfaces for teleoperation and programming. This work presents the integration of the OMRON TM5-9000 collaborative industrial robot into the IVAR laboratory DT system at Tallinn University of Technology. By using Unity3D game engine and developing a ROS package for the specific machine, the digital model of the collaborative robot is integrated into the existing twin. Synchronization with the real counterpart is provided by MQTT protocol while a robot user interface is developed in Unity and provides robot joints visualization and remote control.

Presently the interaction of robots with human plays an important role in various social applications. Reliable tracking is an important aspect for the social robots where robots need to follow the moving person. This paper proposes the implementation of automated tracking and real time following algorithm for robotic automation. Occlusion and identity retention are the major challenges in the tracking process. Hence, a feature set based identity retention algorithm is used and integrated with robot operating system. The tracking algorithm is implemented using robot operating system in Linux and using OpenCV. The tracking algorithm achieved 85% accuracy and 72.30% precision. Further analysis of tracking algorithm corresponds to the integration of ROS and OpenCV is presented. The analysis of tracking algorithm concludes that ROS linking required 0.64% more time in comparison with simple OpenCV code based tracking algorithm.

Rozwój technologii informacyjnej jest ważnym elementem systemu edukacji. Nauczanie i kształcenie związane z komputerami jest zazwyczaj ograniczone do umiejętności posługiwania się oprogramowaniem, zwłaszcza firmy Microsoft. Istnieją jednak szerokie możliwości wykorzystania w procesie kształcenia oprogramowania o otwartym kodzie. Idea wymiany obowiązująca w oprogramowaniu open source prowadzi do twórczego myślenia, aktywności, poszerza wiedzę. Kształcenie w polskich szkołach nie musi odbywać się wyłącznie na bazie rozwiązań komercyjnych, gdyż istnieją użyteczne rozwiązania alternatywne. Ubuntu Linux oraz SLAX Linux to dystrybucje najlepiej spełniające wymagania podstawy programowej kształcenia ogólnego.
The development of information technology continues to influence the educational process. However, computer related teaching practice tends to be limited to the use of software, predominantly Microsoft products, despite the fact that there is considerable potential in employing open source software to the broadly understood educational process. The very concept of Open Source is conductive of creative thinking, pro-active approach, and educational exploration. Education in Polish schools does not have to be based solely on commercial solutions, as fully functional alternatives are available. Ubuntu Linux and SLAX Linux distributions are particularly well suited to the requirements of core school curriculum.

In the article a PC-based numerical machine control system is presented, communicating over EtherCAT bus with servodrives and auxiliary I/O devices. LinuxRTAI real-time operating system was implemented on the PC controller along with the LinuxCNC control software. EtherCAT software communication module was developed and integrated with LinuxCNC. The software module implements CANOpen (CIA301) application layer standard along with device profiles for servodrives (CIA402) and I/O devices (CIA401). This allows for fast bidirectional communication between the PC controller and servodrives or I/O devices. The CNC control system developed by the authors has simple construction and is very flexible. It can be easily adapted to machines of different configuration.
