Both agriculture as an research area and its closely re-lated life sciences have developed rapidly over recent decades. The amount of knowledge that comes from day to day is vast and we are in the “Agriculture 4.0” era not by accident. Research-ers representing agricultural science and research audiences often face choice - is open knowledge sources and data are appropriate source for their research or not. The discussion on the scope of open science resources is becoming intense, even though these initiatives are not new. The European Commission’s position is clear – the results of EU-funded research should be as widely disseminated as possible. This will allow to have a broader dis-cussion and develop new knowledge from existing data. It also applies to data relating to agricultural science. The study provides an overview of the current literature and relevant data sources available on the open science web for agricultural science. In the contemporary global world the various models of making and distributing science are cultivated. The particular model of institutionalized science can significantly determine the quality of working both as a scientist and as a student. Research upon science environment in the meaning of investigation  the framework of science influences for example the system of communication between different actors engaged in science, good practices, possibilities offered by particular context of science and facilities of acquiring the scientific knowledge etc. It this view the presented paper finds its justification directing analysis towards the quality of making science. Hence the paradigm of sociological science policy is strongly needed. The paper is going to reconstruct the key models which recognize contexts of making science and its numerous dimensions. The research is based on the set of literature founded through the digital key words searching process. The chosen literature recalls the most significant research based on science policy. Consequently the described models tend towards the most globalized and open models of making science to show the path of required changes into still founded coercive science structures mostly institutionalized by long-lasting tradition. The final conclusion states that more concrete steps in reformulating the science policy are required to obtain the desirable model of open science and at the same time to develop the high standing scientific priorities.

Science 2.0 aims at using the information sharing and collaborative features of the Internet to offer new features to the research community. Science 2.0 has been already applied to computer sciences, especially bioinformatics. For network information hiding, a field studying the possibility of concealing a communication in networks, the application of Science 2.0 is still a rather uncovered territory. To foster the discussion of potential benefits for network information hiding, we provide a disquisition for six different Science 2.0 aspects when applied to this domain.

The article presents conclusions from research data management (RDM) trainings conducted since 2015 as part of the activities of the Open Science Platform, an initiative of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling, University of Warsaw. The aim of the article is to present a training programme and conclusions based on 5 years of experience (in the years 2015–2020 more than 40 workshops and trainings were carried out, face-to-face and online). The frequently asked questions and problems raised by the participants will be discussed. Also, issues addressed during the trainings will be placed in a broader context of changes in scientific communication in Poland, including, in particular, the implementation of openness policies and the development of new research data repositories (as part of the Disciplinary Open Research Data Repositories project). The article will also suggest possible improvements and developments in RDM training.

The paper describes the genesis and the teaching process of the Data Steward School, Edition 2020, the first Polish school for data stewards. The initiative was implemented by Visnea sp. z o.o. (“Visnea”) in cooperation with GO-FAIR in the period from September 2020 to April 2021. The participants of the Training Programme, future data stewards, gained knowledge of the role of correct data management in achieving institutional objectives. The need to protect the legal and financial interests arising from the possession and archiving of data and data management plan design guidelines, along with the methodology for data collection, metadata, the existence of data repositories, data security and the means of data sharing and storage were also presented. The paper presents the evaluation of the Training Programme and discusses proposals related to the role and importance of the new profession, i.e. the data steward in a scientific institution.

The policy of open access to scientific publications at the Lublin University of Technology gave rise to the issue of sharing research data, which emerged to be a challenge for both research workers and librarians. Promoting awareness in the academic community of how the value and significance of their data increases and when others can make use of it is a novel and challenging task. The objective of this article is to present the activities undertaken for this purpose by the librarians of the Lublin University of Technology. These activities include introducing the Open Access Policy, creating a research data management strategy, and appointing two teams: one with the aim of supporting the University’s Project Office, and the second to create an institutional repository of research data. These actions contribute to the understanding of the value of sharing research results and how to be FAIR when doing so.

Over recent years, open access has developed very dynamically in the world. Many countries have implemented an open access policy and created different ways to publicize the results of scientific research. There are many rules and guidelines related to it, among others Plan S, which aims to implement from 2020 full and unrestricted access to publications resulting from the results of research financed from public funds. The introduction of such activities involves signing and, in particular, transforming existing contracts with publisher into agreements based on the principles of open access the so-called transformative agreements. Standards are created to support national consortia and libraries in negotiating the implementation of a new type of contract, eg. five negotiation rules with LIBER publishers (Ligue des Bibliothèques Européennes de Recherche – Association of European Research Libraries). The aim of the paper is to present good practices and familiarize with activities implemented in the world in the implementation of open access strategies, in particular policies of selected European Union countries in negotiations with scientific publishers, which may become an inspiration for activities related to openness in science implemented in Poland.
Przez ostatnie lata otwarty dostęp rozwijał się na świecie bardzo dynamicznie. Wiele krajów wdrożyło politykę otwartego dostępu i utworzyło różne ścieżki upubliczniania wyników badań naukowych. Powstało wiele zasad i wytycznych z tym związanych m.in. Plan S, którego celem jest wdrożenie od 2020 r. pełnego i nieograniczonego dostępu do publikacji powstających z wyników badań finansowanych ze środków publicznych. Z wprowadzeniem tego typu działań związane jest podpisywanie, a w szczególności przekształcanie dotychczasowych umów z wydawcami na umowy oparte na zasadach otwartego dostępu (ang. transformative agreements). Tworzone są standardy pozwalające na wsparcie konsorcjów krajowych i bibliotek w negocjowaniu wdrażania nowego typu umów np. pięć zasad negocjacji z wydawcami LIBER (Ligue des Bibliothèques Européennes de Recherche – Stowarzyszenie Europejskich Bibliotek Naukowych). Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie dobrych praktyk i przybliżenie działań realizowanych na świecie w zakresie wprowadzania strategii otwartego dostępu, a zwłaszcza polityk wybranych krajów Unii Europejskiej w negocjacjach z wydawcami naukowymi, które mogą stać się inspiracją do działań związanych z otwartością w nauce realizowanych w Polsce.

Rośnie znaczenie wiedzy zgromadzonej w różnego rodzaju systemach, w tym w kursach on-line. Połączenie systemów je przetwarzających z Internetem w znaczącym stopniu usprawniło rozprzestrzenianie informacji i zwiększyło jej dostępność. Coraz szersze uznanie zyskują ruchy Otwartego Dostępu (ang. Open Access). Politechnika Gdańska w ramach projektu Multidyscyplinarny Otwarty System Transferu Wiedzy – MOST Wiedzy buduje platformę o tej samej nazwie, która ma na celu udostępnienie w trybie Otwartego Dostępu zasobów nauki opracowanych na Uczelni. Celem tego działania jest szerokie wypromowanie potencjału badawczego i edukacyjnego Uczelni oraz jej pracowników. Usprawni to organizację międzynarodowych multidyscyplinarnych zespołów i projektów badawczych oraz nawiązywanie współpracy nauka – biznes w zakresie wykorzystania potencjału uczelni oraz komercjalizacji innowacji.
At present more and more valuable information is gathered in various systems. Many participants get attracted by online courses available on numerous e-learning platforms. Most of these systems are available on the Internet, which increases the availability and the ease of processed data spreading. There is an Open Access initiative which becomes very popular nowadays. Gdańsk University of Technology implements a project called Multidisciplinary Open System Transferring Knowledge. The acronym of its name in the Polish language is “MOST Wiedzy”, which means “bridge of knowledge”. It is an Internet system of the same name whose aim is to provide an open access to the resources created and gathered at the University. The objective of the platform is to promote widely the research and educational potential of the University and its staff. This will facilitate international multidisciplinary teams building and research projects organisation. Moreover, it will improve the research-to-business (R2B) cooperation in the area of university scientific potential exploiting and commercialization of innovations.
