The COVID-19 pandemic was a trigger for the educational reform into on-line teaching for preschools, schools, and universities. All educational institutions were faced with this new and unprecedented situation. The change has been defined by technology and thus the education as we know it – face to face and inside a classroom – was transformed into an on-line and distance learning. Access to technology, internet platforms or on-line materials as well as teachers’, parents’ and students’ technological competence made the change challenging. Polish Saturday Schools are unique and autonomous institutions where learning, even under optimal circumstances, is demanding. Hence, an insight into the teachers’ perspective on the on-line delivery seemed valuable and important to research.

This paper presents how Q-learning algorithm can be applied as a general-purpose self-improving controller for use in industrial automation as a substitute for conventional PI controller implemented without proper tuning. Traditional Q-learning approach is redefined to better fit the applications in practical control loops, including new definition of the goal state by the closed loop reference trajectory and discretization of state space and accessible actions (manipulating variables). Properties of Q-learning algorithm are investigated in terms of practical applicability with a special emphasis on initializing of Q-matrix based only on preliminary PI tunings to ensure bumpless switching between existing controller and replacing Q-learning algorithm. A general approach for design of Q-matrix and learning policy is suggested and the concept is systematically validated by simulation in the application to control two examples of processes exhibiting first order dynamics and oscillatory second order dynamics. Results show that online learning using interaction with controlled process is possible and it ensures significant improvement in control performance compared to arbitrarily tuned PI controller.

This contribution proposes software infrastructure to support new types of learning methodologies and resources based on collaborative knowledge engineering by means of an innovative application framework called the virtualized collaborative sessions framework (VCSF). The VCSF helps meet challenging collaborative knowledge engineering requirements in online learning, such as increasing group members' learning performance during the on-line collaborative learning process. In turn, systematic application of the VCSF platform enriched with semantic knowledge engineering technologies enables e-learning developers to leverage successful collaborative learning experiences in a software reuse fashion while saving development time and effort. The framework is prototyped and successfully tested in real environments, thus showing the software reuse capability and the collaborative knowledge engineering benefits of the VCSF approach. The research reported in this paper was undertaken within the ALICE project funded through the European 7th Framework Program (FP7).

Opis:
In the paper, taking into account the empirical research of different authors, the chosen pedagogical, sociological as well as psychological aspects of the on-line teaching and learning processes in the university education are presented. It has been shown that the use of on-line education causes a significant influence on the didactic process in contemporary university. The typical features of the asynchronous learning networks have been discussed in the framework of cognitive psychology, based on the constructivist theory of learning by Jerome Bruner, cognitive constructivist theory by Jean Piaget and the social constructivist theory by Lev Vygotsky. Special attention has been focused on chosen critical variables for successful on-line learning and such groups of problems as: networked collaborative classrooms, community-building paradigm and types of networked interactions. The functions fulfilled by teachers in the asynchronous learning: organizational, social and intellectual, and their competences, have been described.

Opis:
Educational on-line games are promising for new generations of students who are grown up digital. The new generations of students are technology savvy and spend lots of time on the web and on social networks. Based on an exploratory study, this article investigates the factors that influence students’ willingness to participate in serious games for teaching/learning. This study investigates the relationship between students’ behavior on Facebook, Facebook games, and their attitude toward educational on-line games. The results of the study reveal that the early adopters of educational games are likely to be students, who are young, have only a few Facebook connections, who currently play Facebook game(s). Furthermore, the study emphasizes that there may be differences between students coming from various countries.

NAVOICA – to systemowe rozwiązanie oferujące kursy MOOC (z ang. Massive Open Online Course) w Polsce. NAVOICA została uruchomiona w październiku 2018 r. i od tego momentu oferuje możliwość bezpłatnego dostępu zarówno dla twórców, jak i uczestników kursów MOOC. Na przestrzeni pierwszych 18 miesięcy na platformie NAVOICA zarejestrowanych zostało około 6500 użytkowników, co oznacza, że platforma pięciokrotnie zwiększyła liczbę uczestników kursów MOOC w ciągu ostatniego roku. Autorzy artykułu przedstawiają platformę NAVOICA po półtora roku realizacji kursów MOOC, omawiają zarządzanie platformą, system zapewnienia jakości, zgromadzone doświadczenie oraz modyfikacje i nowe funkcjonalności. Materiał zawiera zgromadzone doświadczenie w liczbach oraz wskazuje, w jakim kierunku będzie szedł rozwój oferty o kursy, których publikacja odbędzie się już wkrótce. NAVOICA jest efektem projektu tworzącego sieć współpracy uczelni i innych uznanych podmiotów kształcących na odległość. Jest to projekt realizowany na zlecenie Ministerstwa Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego.
NAVOICA is a system for offering MOOCs (Massive Open Online Course) in Poland. NAVOICA was launched in October 2018 and, from that moment on, has been offering free access to both MOOC creators and participants. Approximately 6500 users registered with the NAVOICA platform during the first 18 months, which means the platform has quintupled the number of MOOC participants over the last year. The article’s authors present the NAVOICA platform after one and a half years of implementing MOOCs, as well as discuss platform management, the quality assurance system, the experience gained, as well as modifications and new functions. The material contains the experience accumulated in numerical form and indicates the direction in which the offer is to be expanded with soon to be published courses. NAVOICA is the result of a project creating a network for collaboration of higher education institutions and other well-established bodies providing distance learning. The project has been commissioned by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

This paper reports on a one-year longitudinal study that adopted a blended teaching approach based on designing and implementing an online EFL course to be used by Greek students aged 13-14 years old along their more traditional face-to-face lessons. The reason for creating a more dynamic learning environment aligned with the rest of the curriculum was to increase EFL learners’ engagement and motivation through their exposure to authentic online material and participation in a variety of reading, writing, speaking and listening tasks. Data analysis of pre- and post-achievement tests on English language reading comprehension performance along with students’ Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) attitude questionnaire showed that participants generally had a positive attitude toward CALL. At the same time, open online access technologies gave them the opportunity to further develop their EFL reading comprehension skills. The paper concludes by highlighting the fact that online class components were not designed to fit the online tools into a task-based EFL lesson, but rather served the learning objectives of the actual lesson based on a blended teaching approach.

W artykule przedsta-wiona zostanie definicja platform edukacyjnych stosowanych na płaszczyźnie edukacyjnej, jako serwis internetowy o profilu dydaktycznym.
In the final decade there was a sudden increase of using microcomputers which connected with the popularization of an online contact led to emerge a completely new opportunity of education – teaching from a distance that is conducting a teaching process in conditions where students and tutors who are not at the same place, using contemporary communication technologies to pass on information. The development of technology has contributed to the search of mobile forms of learning, or e-earning. Translated into Polish language, is nothing like distance learning, e-learning or online learning. This section describes the definition of educational platforms will be used for educational level, as Internet service educational profile.

Since couple of years we've became witnesses of fast developing of the internet, including huge amount of participans and wide range of facilities. One of such services become prepared courses distance learning platform in which to communicate directly with the type: the teacher - student, replaces the electronic communication. Article defines an educational course and content of such a course, which is to collect the basic tasks of teaching materials, organize and share their addressees.

The paper presents the characterization of elearning tools and describes three areas: system ty-pology, elearning standards. We are witnessing how information technology-communication be-comes more and faster development. Fashion and even downright inevitable desire to create an information society. Computers and the Internet replacing the traditional model of education so far. The development of technology has contributed to the search of mobile forms of learning, or e-learning.

With the tremendous growth of information technology is slowly learning in traditional school walls is displaced by more modern Computers and the Internet replacing the traditional model of education so far. The importance of the global network as an information source, which from important decisions are taken. In the education the latest model of the teaching and the learning, fitted to new conditions and to new needs is an effect of changes. A distance education is becoming one of essential educational tools of the information society.

Opis:
The paper is an attempt to show how to introduce elements of distance teaching in philology studies. The key feature of these studies is that the most frequent method of education are workshops and seminars, at which the master-student relationship dominates and the direct thought exchange is fundamental and irreplaceable by any other form of the didactic offer. It appears however, that new technologies can be made use of, along with certain types of distance teaching, despite troubles with breaching the psychological barrier and technical problems. The paper gives factual results of such attempts, illustrating them with products created by lecturers and students. The presentation focuses on the effects of using the new technologies at B.A. and master’s degree seminars on methods of foreign language teaching, literature and linguistics in the past two years, at the Institute of Roman Philology.

Współczesne metody nauczania na odległość zmieniają się dynamicznie. Powstają światowe konsorcja podejmujące starania zapewnienia dostępu do edukacji na najwyższym poziomie z wykorzystaniem Internetu. Jedną z takich prób jest platforma edX. Jej rozwój zapoczątkowały niemal 2 lata temu MIT i Harvard. Obecnie zespół liczy już 30 uczelni z całego świata. Renoma ośrodków naukowych biorących udział w projekcie przyciągnęła już ponad 2 miliony kursantów z całego świata. Ogromnymi zaletami platformy są takie aspekty jak: kompleksowe podejście do kształcenia online, obejmujące zarówno wykłady jak i ćwiczenia, czy wirtualne laboratoria. Platforma jest również polem doświadczalnym dla nowatorskich metod weryfikacji wiedzy oraz jej potwierdzania za pomocą wciąż rozbudowywanego systemu certyfikatów. Artykuł podsumowuje opinia dot. możliwości portalu z punktu widzenia studenta i wykładowcy PG.
Modern e-learning methods develop dynamically. Worldwide consortiums, which unite institutions trying to make an effort to assure the education at highest level, with usage of the Internet, are created. The edX platform is a new approach to this task. It was founded almost two years ago by MIT and Harvard. At the present, participating group involves 30 top universities from all over the world. Reputation of those research centers appealed over 2 million students already. The most significant advantage of the edX platform is complex approach to the online training. It includes both valuable and encouraging video lectures and virtual laboratories where students can challenge new concerns on their own. The edX is also a testing field for innovative methods of knowledge and skills verification. There is also a constantly expanding certification system which features a proctored exams or verified ID diplomas. Moreover, the edX consortium share the achievement on open-source basis. Possibilities offered by the platform attract many educational institutions over the world such as French or Chinese ministries of education. The paper is summarized with student’s and lecturer’s point of view onto the platform’s opportunities.
