Opis:
Purpose: The purpose of the article is determining the prospects of oil production in the Arctic from technological point of view. Design/methodology/approach: The study uses qualitative analysis in order to gain insights into the realistic prospects and the key aspects of the development of the Arctic shelf. The methods of strategic analysis were adopted to determine the main strategic directions of technological development of offshore projects. Reliability and validity of the obtained results are established due to the usage of modern legal and regulatory framework and data of the “Gazprom” and “RosNeft” oil companies. Findings: The study offers an approach to investigation of problem of Arctic oil and gas projects’ technological support. This paper provides the strategies of technological aspect’s future development and analyses opportunities of their implementation in current circumstances. Research limitations/implications: The relevance of this research is connected with increasing interest in the extraction of mineral resources in Russian Arctic. Practical implications: The findings of this study have a number of important implications for future practice within determination of the realistic prospects for development of Russian Arctic shelf. Originality/value: The problem of the development of offshore oil and gas Arctic projects has risen recently on a world scale due to the depletion of traditional overland oil and gas fields. This study has provided a deeper insight into strategic directions of providing the Russian offshore projects with required technologies. The possible ways were divided into three strategies: import-oriented strategy, cooperation strategy and intra-oriented substitution strategy.

MUSE Projects
oil and gas reservoirs
Opis:
The content in this report was presented at the 3rd MUSE steering committee meeting at UoS, in Stavanger, December 10th, 2015. The project report consists of five individual reports, each focusing on various themes: 1. Hydrocarbon Reservoir Behaviour during the Process of Abandonment and Thereafter by Victor Chukwudi Anokwuru, IPT/TN/UoS 2. Monitoring Techniques Applied to CCS-EOR by Intergrity Obara, IPT/TN/UoS 3. Risk Assessment by Emil Gazizullin, IPT/TN/UoS 4. Environmental Considerations of CO2 Projects by Oduro Takyiwa Susanna, IKM/TN UoS and Yen Adams Sokama-Neuyam, IPT/TN/UoS 5. How to Reduce the Likelihood of Environmental Impacts During Plug and Abandonment by Alexander Steine Johnsen, Preben Emil Haugen and Jann Rune Ursin, IPT/TN/UoS The reports are all written under supervision of the WP2 project leader. All reports are based on open sources; local (UoS) reports, publications available on the internet, official publications and journal papers, and communications with a great number of individual resource persons in the Norwegian oil and gas industry. The relevance of the work presented in the above mentioned reports, in relation to the MUSE project objectives is, as far possible, promoted through carefully following the project description (part of the AGH–UoS partnership agreement) and with reference to a preliminary WP1 progress report from mid February 2015; WP1-Selecting reservoirs for application of CO2 storage with IOR technology and feasibility studies. The work in the MUSE project is accomplished through the willingness and skills of UoS department master students, hired as project assistants. Fortunately for the project there are quite a few high class student, capable of writing high quality technical reports at UoS. The five reports are presented sequentially and all reports are the responsibility of the author and all reports are approved by the WP2 project leader.

Opis:
The construction phase of oil and gas projects (OGPs) is a risky process and project managers face numerous challenges during this particular period. A proper risk analysis and management during the construction phase of the OGPs not only will affect the timely and successful operation of the project as a whole, it can also affect occurrence of risks in subsequent phases and overall economic viability of the project. As a result, via using extensive literature review, this study tries to answer the question of what are main risks involved in construction phase of OGPs and which methods are used for identifying them? The outcome of this research would likely be a valuable source for construction professionals to improve project performance while managing existing risks. It is also useful to avoid common problems that befall many project managers and will assist them to have a better understanding of risk management as part of a project plan.
