Opis:
This article indicates the development trends in the construction of offshore wind turbines worldwide, and the characteristics of existing and planned ships for wind turbine installation and maintenance; it presents an approach to design ports with their future operations in mind. Problem: The safety of navigation in port waterways is the basic restrictions for the construction of harbors (terminals) to handle ships used for the construction of OWT and for increasing their size. Navigational risk is a criterion of navigational safety assessment that allows its accurate estimation in port waterways. Method: The article presents the method for dimensioning port waterways for ships serving offshore sea wind turbine transport and construction. Furthermore, a method for determining the navigational risk of jack-up vessels navigating in port waterway areas is presented. Results: The authors have determined conditions for safe operation of these ships in restricted areas and defined the basic condition of navigational safety. The presented method of navigational risk analysis refers to the departure of a loaded ship carrying offshore wind turbine components in the presently designed port terminal in Świnoujście for handling offshore wind farm projects. Conclusion: These are universal methods that can be applied to the design of ports serving vessels that install offshore wind turbines in various types of waters.

Offshore renewable energy, and in particular the offshore wind energy sector, is still developing in many countries around the world. Wind offshore projects are characterized by the need to build offshore electric power transmission infrastructure. Offshore substations are a key element of submarine electric power transmission systems. Due to the environmental conditions, an offshore substation is constructed as an indoor facility located on a platform. Depending on the offshore wind farm capacity, there are various solutions for platform and substructure designs used for the substation. Numerous economic and technical analyses indicate a significant potential for the development of offshore wind energy in Poland. By 2030, this potential is set at 6 GW of installed capacity, taking into account 2.2 GW of power included in the connection agreements being concluded. The main objective of this paper is to present the prospects for the development of offshore wind energy in Poland, and to describe the various offshore substation solutions and the different aspects of substation operation. Offshore wind energy resources and power capacity are also presented. Moreover, solutions for offshore substation platforms, electrical equipment and layout, functions of offshore substations in the power systems and offshore substation designs are described.

Opis:
Offshore wind farms have become one of the fastest growing renewable energy technologies in recent years. Projects developed in the area of the Polish Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) are considered crucial for the future of the energy sector in Poland. One of the arguments for the development of this sector is the common opinion among investors and decision makers that offshore wind farms are much less exposed to the risk of social conflicts compared to onshore installations. Due to the lack of completed investments in the Polish EEZ area and restriction of possible construction of farms to Baltic shoals only, explicit exclusion of the risk of protests seems wrong. The article identifies the factors of offshore wind farms OWF localization and the most important social groups at risk of participating in social conflicts. The Delphi method research indicates that, above all, numerous conflicts with other users of the maritime area should be expected, and the groups most vulnerable to conflict are fishermen, environmentalists, media and residents of coastal municipalities.

Opis:
The article presents the calculation and design stages of the TLP platform serving as a supporting construction of a 6 MW offshore wind turbine. This platform is designed to anchor at sea at a depth of 60 m. The authors presented the method of parameterization and optimization of the hull geometry. For the two selected geometry variants, the load and motion calculations of the platform subjected to wind, wave and current under 50-year storm conditions were performed. The maximum load on the structure was determined in these extreme storm conditions. For these loads, the MES calculation of the designed platform was performed for the selected variant. Authors have presented a method for calculating maximum wind, wave and current stresses on the structure during the worst storm in the past 50 years. For these loads the MES endurance calculations of the designed platform were made. Based on the results of these calculations, the required structural changes and recalculations have been made in succession to the structural design of the platform, which meets the design requirements and has the required ad hoc strength. The article contains stress analysis in „difficult” nodes of constructions and discusses ways of solving their problems. The work is part of the WIND-TU-PLA project from the NCBR Research Agreement (Agreement No. MARTECII / 1/2014).

Biofouling is a natural phenomenon that consists of the accumulation of living organisms on an artificial surface submerged or in contact with water like Offshore platforms. This study highlights the need for offshore floating wind farms structures to consider the choice of material used in offshore applications to minimize microbial-associated and corrosion problems. For this purpose, differences in the total of seawater biofouling attached on two coated paints and three ceramic coatings in carbon steel for offshore structures were evaluated and compared. All ceramic coatings were made of incorporating, by electrophoretic deposition, active ceramic particles against biofouling as copper, silver, zinc and titanium. This experiment consisted of testing ceramic coatings and conventional paints in a real environment with high biological activity and at the same time in a shallow marine environment for a period of 1 year, which provided positive comparisons with the standard system (ASTM-D3623) for using in protecting offshore marine structures.

Opis:
The present paper provides an overview of the current state and future trends of the offshore sector worldwide, as well as the relationship between the oil and gas (O&G) and the wind power industry offshore. Study on the offshore energy transition basis on review of literature, reports, and outlooks of main energy agencies, classification societies, and main offshore companies - their pathways and ambitions. A comparative analysis of the oil prices to their extraction at sea. Analysis of new build and scrapped drilling units, and their utilization. This is followed by correlation analysis between the emergence of new projects in O&G and wind farms offshore. The new and cheaper technology, and ambitions to reduce greenhouse (GHG) emission to zero levels, favor renewable. The results disclose that the main O&G companies start investing in renewable technologies. The offshore energy transition has already begun and accelerating. Nevertheless, full transition will take a while, as the global power demand is still too high to be covered only by a renewable source of energy. The number of annual O&G assets decommissioning is double in size compared to the new projects, and Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU) utilization average of 60%. Offshore wind develops dynamically, and the forecasts show that this trend stands at the same high level to cross a number 100 GW produced from offshore wind globally in 2025, but there is a visible lack of Mobile Offshore Wind Power Service Operations Units (MOWU). If well planned there is room for mutual benefits between O&G and wind within the offshore sector due to re-orientation measures.

The support structure being the object of the analysis presented in the article is Tripod. According to the adopted assumptions, it is a foundation gravitationally set in the water region of 60 m in depth, not fixed to the seabed, which can be used for installing a 7MW wind turbine. Due to the lack of substantial information on designing and strength calculations of such types of structures in the world literature, authors have made an attempt to solve this problem within the framework of the abovementioned project. In the performed calculations all basic loads acting on the structure were taken into account, including: the self mass of the structure, the masses of the ballast, the tower and the turbine, as well as hydrostatic forces, and aero- and hydrodynamic forces acting on the entire object in extreme operating conditions.

Some problems of the foundations of offshore wind turbines are considered in this paper. A short review is presented on the two basic types of foundations, i.e. monopiles and gravity foundations, including their basic features and applications as well as general design considerations. Also, some issues regarding analysis are discussed, including geotechnical problems and modelling techniques. A numerical model of offshores turbine and some preliminary computations are presented. Finite element analysis was carried out for wind turbines supported on both gravity and monopile foundations. The wind turbine tower, blades (simplified model), gravity foundation and part of the surrounding soil are included in the model. The turbine was loaded by wind and loads induced by waves, inertia and gravity. Both non-linear static and dynamic analysis of the wind turbine was performed. The displacements and stresses under the tower foundations were calculated and a comparison analysis carried out.

Opis:
In the era of renewable energy, offshore wind farms play a very important role. The number of such installations in Europe is increasing rapidly. With the growing capacity of wind turbines installed in these farms (3, 5, 10 MW), the profitability of this type of energy systems plays an increasing role. The number of wind energy turbines installed at offshore wind farms is growing constantly as well. Once installed, the power plants must be under constant technical supervision, with reliability of electronic communication systems being a particularly important aspect in the operation of offshore wind farms. Considerations focusing on this subject form the very core of this paper. After an introduction to offshore wind farms, the following aspects will be discussed: redundant topologies, e.g. multiple HiPERRings, redundant switches and routers within the backbone networks, redundancy of the transmission media used, alternative transmission technologies, e.g. WLANs (IEEE 802.11h, IEEE 802.11g). Finally, requirements applicable to reliable electronic communication systems used in offshore wind farms will be formulated.

The paper presents a selected aspect of the determining the initial soil shear modulus value on the research example in resonant column – torsional shear apparatus (RC / TS). There are presented the significance of the initial value of shear modulus in design of offshore wind power plant foundations and the importance of its variability in the function of cyclical shear strains of soil related to the impact of sea and atmosphere on the designed structures. Based on the conducted analyses, a new methodology for interpreting the TS test results of soil has been proposed. It allows estimating the values of the shear modulus in the full range of shear strains occurring in issues closely related to the design and construction work of offshore wind power plant foundations.
