Opis:: The aim of this paper is to make an attempt to determine the status of language in the ad- ministrative-legal language communication sphere and a proposal for an intemal diffe- rentiation of this variety of Polish.The author supports the tradition of using the name administrative variant as the one of higher order to all the expressions servicing this sphere, and to distinguish within its scope the following: the legał subvariant as the central one (law is the broadest framework of administrative activities), the office subvariant and the rhetoric subvariant. Each of them may have a further differentiation depending on the assumed criteria.

Opis:: In this article two Church Slavonic old prints: the Ostrog Bible (1581) and the Jabłeczna Gospel Book (1771) – were subjected to collation with the lexis of the Ostromir Gospel Book. All the texts are the part of the Ruthenian recension. The purpose of the comparison was to show and explain the observed differences at the lexical level. The confrontation allowed to differentiate between the language layers comprising the texts: the Greek, Moravian, West-Bulgarian, East-Bulgarian and Ruthenian ones. What is more, both old prints are identical (with the exception of three lexemes). Taking into consideration the few discrepancies, it can definitely be said that the Evangeliary of 1771 retained the pre-Niconian lexis virtually intact. Furthermore, juxtaposing proved that the Gospel aprakos differs from the Evangeliary and from the complete edition of the Bible not only in the organization of the content but also in the lexical and word formation means.

Opis:: This paper presents an example application of a software program developed using the programming language VBA and designed for modelling queuing systems in the field of transport. The program enables users to quantitatively determine the indicators of the queuing systems. In order to show the program’s capabilities and how it can be used, two scenarios have been considered - modelling single-server and multi-server queuing systems of type M/M/1 and M/M/S, respectively, having a Poisson incoming flow of requests and exponentially distributed service times.

Opis:: The article concerns an Old Polish matins to the Holy Mary from the 17th century, which were created as a sung prayer, especially for laics. Its composition is similar to the breviary office of the Catholic Church, whereas the versification is based on prominent poetry examples from the Polish Renaissance (Jan Kochanowski, Mikołaj Sęp Szarzyński et al.). The author states that this form of prayer was attacked or even ridiculed in the times of reformation and counter-reformation by Protestant writers. Thanks to philological analysis of every distich – with consideration of the European background – the author shows intense and direct relations of the text to the Bible in Renaissance translations (priest Jakub Wujek, the Gdańsk Bible) and sometimes also to Marian apocryphic texts. A crucial role is played here by the symbolism of numbers (especially 7, 3, 1) and the semantic differences in many lexemes and language forms of the virtually 16th century Polish, if compared with contemporary Polish. A full concretization of this poetic cycle becomes visible when the text is sung first – hence the musical and prosodic aspects of the Little Office: its melodic line, physiological effects as the deepening and regularity of the breath have been considered. This is the way the prayer influences the human body, it opens and purifies the spiritual space for the influence of God’s grace. The author localized the prayer within the daily cycle of Old Polish and contemporary civilization, he pointed out the radical changes in life habits within the last century and an evolution of folk spirituality. The Little Office also has its place in the weekly cycle whereby every part is assigned to one specific day of the week. During the philological and prosodic analysis potential performers of the Little Office in Old Poland from the circles of peasants and craftsmen were named. The text has been well acquired in the community for twenty generations – the Little Office is often sung from memory exclusively. Because of the sociological changes it pervaded, thanks to the Roman-Catholic liturgy, into the contemporary urban ceremonial. 1
