The article contains a review of basic notions connected with the consequences of an increasing multiculturalism of Polish society for the professional ethics of a psychologist in a clinical context. In the first part the issues connected with a psychological diagnosis of people of different cultural background are presented. Also, a notion of a culturally sensitive diagnosis and a specificity of interpersonal communication in a multicultural environment are described. In the second part, issues regarding psychotherapy and psychological help for people of different cultural backgrounds, with a particular attention drawn to a therapy of families culturally diverse, where the rules of communicative school of the system therapy gain an additional value are described. In both parts of the article, a particular attention is given to the contemporary understanding of the notion of cultural competency in the work of psychologists-practitioners.

Czy można mówić o powstaniu nowej subdyscypliny nauk teologicznych, będącej zarazem subdyscypliną nauk o mediach, czyli teologii mediów i komunikacji? Autorzy poddają analizie dostępne akty prawne, dokumenty urzędowe, dokumenty Kościoła oraz opracowania poświęcone metodologii nauk o mediach i nauk teologicznych. Odwołują się także do wyników własnych, wcześniejszych badań w tym zakresie, które zostały przedstawione w formie syntezy.
This article aims to answer the following questions: Do theology and media studies have common areas of interest? Can we talk about new subdiscipline of theological science, which might also be regarded as subdiscipline of media studies? The authors analyzed available legal acts, official documents, documents of the Church and the essays dedicated to the media studies and theological sciences. In addition to this, they refer to the results of their previous research in this area.

W artykule zawarto przegląd podstawowych zagadnień związanych z konsekwencjami wzrastającej wielokulturowości polskiego społeczeństwa dla etyki zawodowej psychologa w kontekście klinicznym. W pierwszej części omówiono kwestie związane z diagnostyką psychologiczną osób pochodzących z innych kultur, przybliżono pojęcie diagnozy wrażliwej kulturowo, a także specyfikę komunikacji interpersonalnej w środowisku wielokulturowym. W części drugiej skoncentrowano się na zagadnieniach związanych z psychoterapią i pomocą psychologiczną osobom wywodzącym się z różnych kultur, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem terapii rodzin zróżnicowanych kulturowo, gdzie zasady komunikacyjnej szkoły terapii systemowej dodatkowo zyskują na znaczeniu. W obu częściach szczególną uwagę poświęcono współczesnemu rozumieniu pojęcia kompetencji kulturowej w pracy psychologa praktyka.

This study investigates the effect of a vlogging project on Malaysian ESL students’ speaking performance in a secondary school. Additionally, the students’ experience and perception of making and using vlogs in their language learning were also investigated. To this end, a mixed-methods approach was adopted and the data was collected from 73 participants. A quasi-experiment was conducted to determine the effect of the vlogging project while a questionnaire and a retrospective self-report were utilised to obtain the participants’ views pertaining to their experience in creating vlogs. The findings indicate statistically significant improvement in the ESL students’ speaking scores. Additionally, the participants viewed the vlogging project positively and perceived it as a student-friendly learning tool which can also promote self-evaluation and function as a source of motivation. Drawing on the findings, ESL teachers should consider the pedagogical benefits of vlogs and incorporate them as an instructional technique in the language classrooms. This study indicates that the use of vlogs warrants further research in order to inform the feasibility and pedagogical impact of using vlogs to enhance students’ speaking skills.

„Freedom and privacy of communication is guaranteed. The restrictions may be imposed only in cases specified in the Act and in the manner specified therein.” This pronounced and clear declaration, being not only a legal guarantee is included in paragraph 49 of Constitution of the Republic of Poland. We look at it from the hindsight, which was created by a system of global invigilation of communication, not only electronic one, called Echelon. It was widely known before Edward Snowden was heard in Hong Kong. Echelon was talked, written about and discussed not only in European Parliament but also at other formal forum. Yet, in our country this phenomenon did not arouse much interest either of lawyers, ministers, senators, government or politicians. There is probably the first attempt of assessing the consequences of Echelon from the view of Polish law. We limit ourselves intentionally to the point which was reachable for everyone before Snowden. We believe that it has a particular meaning: it illustrates that in our country there is a dramatic implementation of the constitutional right to democratic rule of law. It makes us realize where we live and what we can.

The article aims at a revision of such terms as sentence, utterance, speech act, or communication event in view of new research needs and a broader understanding of language as involved in a complex communication process and, thus, considered a tool for not only generating meanings but also conveying them in interpersonal collaboration. From such a perspective, language appears to be not only a system but also one of the tools of symbolising meanings and intentional acts which serve the purpose of generating and regulating social bonds. The purpose of the authors is, thus, to define traditional linguistic concepts in order to make them good tools to describe the types of communication events and the ensuing individual interactions. We also intend to resolve the existing terminological confusion, i.e. to eliminate the employment of the same terms to describe different speech events and different levels of speech, and, as a result, to place the concepts in a hierarchy and assign them clear definitions. All this is undertaken in order to fit in the perspective of the observer as an active participant and contributor to the communication event, utterance or even a sentence
Celem tego artykułu jest rewizja takich pojęć jak zdanie, wypowiedź, akt mowy, zdarzenie komunikacyjne w obliczu nowych potrzeb badawczych i szerszego rozumienia języka – języka uwikłanego w złożony proces komunikowania, a zatem jako narzędzia służącego nie tyle do produkcji znaczeń, ile do ich przekazywania i interpersonalnego współtworzenia. Z takiej perspektywy język jawi się nie jako system, ale jako jedno z narzędzi symbolizowania znaczeń i intencjonalnych przesłań, które służą do wytwarzania i regulowania więzi społecznych. Zamiarem autorek jest zatem taka redefinicja tradycyjnych dla językoznawstwa i pragmatyki mowy pojęć, aby stały się one dobrym narzędziem dla opisu typu zdarzenia komunikacyjnego i wytworzonej jednostkowej interakcji. Chcemy też usunąć istniejące zamieszanie terminologiczne, tzn. wyeliminować używanie tych samych pojęć dla określenia innych zjawisk mownych lub innych poziomów mowy, a w rezultacie zhierarchizować te pojęcia oraz wytyczyć im przejrzyste ramy definicyjne. A wszystko to po to, by w tych ramach dała się zawrzeć także perspektywa odbiorcy jako czynnego uczestnika i współtwórcy komunikacyjnego zdarzenia, wypowiedzi, a nawet zdania.

Apostolska adhoracja Evangelii gaudium stanowi owoc refleksji papieża Franciszka na temat XIII Zwyczajnego Zgromadzenia Ogólnego Synodu Biskupów, który odbył się w październiku 2002 r. i obradował na temat „Nowa ewangelizacja dla przekazu wiary chrześcijańskiej”. Autor analizuje dokument papieski z perspektywy komunikacji. Niniejsza publikacja nie przestawia teorii komunikacji, na których opiera się omawiany dokument, ale wydobywa pewne praktyczne nauczanie i zasady przydatne osobom zajmujących się komunikacją w Kościele. Tytuł Adhortacji Radość Ewangelii stanowi doskonałą syntezę tonu i intencji papieża oraz prowadzi do naturalnego wniosku, że osoby zajmujące się komunikacją w Kościele odgrywają szczególną rolę w dziele ewangelizacji jako siewcy pokoju i dialogu na świecie.
The Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii gaudium is the fruit of Pope Francis’ reflection on the 13th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, gathered in October 2012 which discussed the subject “The New Evangelization for the Transmission of the Christian Faith”. We analyze the Pope’s document from a communication perspective. However, this article will not present the communication theories behind the text, but extract some practical teachings and principles useful for Church communicators. The title of the exhortation, “The Joy of the Gospel”, is a perfect synthesis of the Pope’s tone and intention, and brings one naturally to the conclusion that Church communicators play a particular role in the task of evangelization, as sowers of peace and dialogue in the world.

The study of dynamic codes in various social and legal conditions and the problems of agnonymy in intercultural communication allow us to automatically assert that collective memory and a common past are the basis of socialism, language, as a true chronicler, records everything in its linguistic picture of the world. The informative value of a communicative unit is determined not only by its correlations with a specific denotate, but also by the specific emotional-aesthetic attitude of native speakers towards it, which are uniform manifestations in a given linguistic and cultural community. The scientific and technological revolution accelerates the processes leading to agnonymy (dynamics of vocabulary and connotative meanings, dynamics of printed forms, urban palimpsests, text modifications, etc.).

The article reviews specific features of the Georgian linguistic world image shaped during the long period of its existence. The analysis covers the cultural concepts and language markers that reflect the national characteristics. Being a special kind of cross-cultural communication, translation is a process of overcoming the linguistic and cultural barriers, and includes transcoding of language code as well as the cultural one. On the one hand, it uncovers the discrepancies between the key concepts in different cultures, and on the other hand, it demonstrates existence of the similar language markers of the ‘global cultural space’ that is being formed.

Opis:
Financial sanctions against Member States for infringement of Euro-pean Union law can amount to millions of euros. They are imposed by the Court of Justice of the European Union, either as a periodic penalty payment or a lump sum. The paper presents the procedure for enforcing the Court’s judgements and discusses the interpretation of Article 260 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union in the case-law of this institution: from a precedent allowing the joint imposition of a periodic penalty payment and a lump sum, by changing the method of calculating both penalties as a result of the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty, to the interpretation of the expression failu-re to fulfil its obligation to notify transposing measures referred to in Article 260 (3) TFEU.

Opis:
The adoption of a new Learning Design methodology, especially when it is related to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), by teachers in Cyprus is a challenge. This paper describes and evaluates the process of transferring such a Learning Design innovation, as developed by the UK Open University, to elementary and secondary education teachers in the Cyprus context. The paper also analyses the impact of such a Learning Design on teacher practice and considers barriers obstructing its uptake. Lastly, suggestions for future implementation are given in the conclusion.

Tekst przedstawia gry cyfrowe (w tym serious games) jako środki komunikowania sytuowane w dyscyplinie nauk o mediach. Po spełnieniu określonych warunków nadają się one do efektywnego transferu wiedzy teoretycznej, praktycznej i mogą być eksploatowane jako media różnorodnego oddziaływania na użytkowników-graczy. Artykuł jest teoretyczną prezentacją ewolucji stadiów gier obrazującą, dlaczego i w jaki sposób stawały się przedmiotem zainteresowań komunikologów i medioznawców.
The study presents digital games (including serious games) as a medium of communication, considered as one of the subjects in media studies. Under certain conditions, games are suitable for the effective transfer of theoretical and practical knowledge which, in turn, might affect the users. The theoretical paper looks at digital games from the perspective of their evolution. It illustrates the ways in which digital games have become a subject for communication and media researchers.
