Opis:
The results of testing the Bon Voyage system for an ocean voyage are presented in this paper. The main assumptions of testing were: ETD – 26.08.2016 and ETA – 05.09.2016, as established by the owner. All the data have been obtained from an actual voyage of a post-Panamax shipping container through the North Pacific. Testing was repeated again after completion of the voyage (post-voyage analysis). The data indicate that improved results with respect to fuel consumption could have been achieved using a different moment of second stage testing. Possible problems at planning, programming, and optimizing of the route leading through the ECA (Emission Control Area) zones with the use of onboard routing systems are also presented.

While operating the ship, one of the most important tasks is forecasting the ocean route. For this purpose, the speed characteristics of the ship are used, which are used in specialized computer systems and presented in publications. However, published algorithms for speed (or decrease of speed) calculations of a ship in real weather conditions on given routes are very simplified and do not contain all the relevant parameters related to the ship's hull (affecting its resistance when sailing, eg on waves), its propulsion and weather conditions. The article presents its own, more detailed mathematical model of the speed of the ship, and the performed calculations of speed of the ship were compared with the algorithms available in the literature and with the records from the ship's log.

While operating the ship, one of the most important tasks is forecasting the ocean route. The vessel's speed characteristics are used to predict the route. Commonly used are very simplified algorithms for calculating those characteristics in which only a few basic ship parameters are used. The article presents a more detailed mathematical model for forecasting the speed of the ship in real weather conditions. This model requires more detailed geometric data of the ship and its propulsion (propeller and propulsion engine), but this data is available for operating ships.

Opis:
The operational measures in which a ship needs to avoid specified areas to escape ship stability failures were discussed at the International Maritime Organization as a part of the second generation intact stability criteria. It is necessary that the rationality and practicality of the operational measures are carefully investigated. In this study, master’s route decision-making criteria of trans-ocean vehicle carriers have been clarified by comparing the Pacific and the Atlantic data, derived from Satellite AIS and ocean wave data. Features of voyage routes of each ocean were discussed, followed by analysis of the encountered wave direction and height during a voyage. The master’s route selection criteria were defined by comparing the probability densities of the wave heights that occurred in the navigable area and that of the actual encountered waves. The navigation hours in a stormy area were also studied.

Opis:
The operational limitations are discussed at the IMO as a part of the second generation intact stability criteria. Since it is a first attempt to introduce operational efforts into safety regulations, comprehensive discussions are necessary to realize practically acceptable ones. Therefore this study investigates actual navigation routes of container ships and pure car carriers in the trans-North Pacific Ocean in winter, because they are prone to suffer significant parametric roll which is one of stability failure modes. Firstly, interviews are made to shipmasters who have experiences to have operated the subject ships to identify major elements for route selection in the North Pacific Ocean. Secondly, sufficient number of actual navigation records is collected from Satellite AIS data to derive the weather criteria for the route selection in severe weather condition. Finally, shipmaster’s on-board decision-making criteria are discussed by analysing the ship tracking data and weather data.

Navigational apparatuses, hardware and gadgets have created and the boat's route official needs to take assist in flighty ways with arranging and explore the ocean journey. The boat's official has a bunch of marine route hardware, which makes the upkeep of boats, freight and lives a lot simpler, because of mechanical advances. Subsequently, safeguarding the marine climate. As the absence of preparing and failure influence the climate, whether while moving boats to moor in ports or during cruising, as well as stacking and dumping activities in ports. Besides, momentum sailors are prepared to know how to function and work all advanced navigational hardware that made the excursion adrift smoother, more secure and safer. Positive aspects on the climate to be viable with current offices and robotization, the boat today has many high-level route hardware frameworks that give exact information to the journey, consequently keeping away from a large number of the negatives that happened in past times.
