Opis:
Tumbling NPA (non-principal axis) asteroids are discovered by the investigation of photometric data and asteroids lightcurves. A particular solution of Euler-Liouville equation was found for an elongated symmetrical body. It may be useful for investigations of dual periods of rotational motion NPA tumbling asteroids. Physical formula of the gravity force moment acting at a rigid body was derived. A numerical solution of the same accurate equation was found and compared with the analytical ones. A stable region of the numerical solution was investigated and numerical algorithms for fast variables were examined. Very long time period of the numerical solution of Euler- Liouville equation for the body in gravitational field was found.

Opis:
The paper presents a finite element code for compressible flow simulations. The code has two important features: adaptivity to increase accuracy of computations by selectively refining a finite element mesh and efficient parallel performance due to a special implementation based on concept of patches of elements. The algorithm for approximating the compressible Navier-Stokes equations is a version of the stabilized finite element method. Three time integration strategies are implemented, explicit, linear implicit and nonlinear implicit, and the GMRES method is used to solve systems of linear equations. For parallel simulations the code uses a special algorithm for mesh partition. The performance of the code is tested for two examples of supersonic flows: one inviscid and one viscous.

Opis:
The finite difference time domain method (FDTD) is frequently used for the numerical solution of a wide variety of electromagnetic (EM) problems and, among them, those concerning human exposure to EM fields. In many practical cases related to the assessment of occupational EM exposure, large simulation domains are modeled and high space resolution adopted, so that strong memory and central processing unit power requirements have to be satisfied. To better afford the computational effort, the use of parallel computing is a winning approach; alternatively, subgridding techniques are often implemented. However, the simultaneous use of subgridding schemes and parallel algorithms is very new. In this paper, an easy-to-implement and highly-efficient parallel graded-mesh (GM) FDTD scheme is proposed and applied to human–antenna interaction problems, demonstrating its appropriateness in dealing with complex occupational tasks and showing its capability to guarantee the advantages of a traditional subgridding technique without affecting the parallel FDTD performance.

Opis:
With the development of machine learning and Big Data, the concepts of linear and non-linear optimization techniques are becoming increasingly valuable for many quantitative disciplines. Problems of that nature are typically solved using distinctive optimization algorithms, iterative methods, or heuristics. A new variant of the Accelerated Projection-Based Consensus (APC) iterative method is proposed, which is faster than its classical version while handling large sparse matrices in distributed settings. The algorithm is proposed, and its description and implementation in a high-level programming language are presented. Convergence tests measuring acceleration factors based on real-world datasets are done, and their results are promising. The results of this research can be used as an alternative to solving numerical optimization problems.

Opis:
The problem of vehicle-bridge interaction can be followed in the literature from the year 1849. It was induced by the collapse of the Chester Rail Bridge in England in the year 1847. At the early stage the analytical methods were applied. The development of computers brings the change in the approach to the used methods of solution. The Finite Element Methods and the Component Element Methods represent the revolution and qualitative jump in the development. The dynamic deflections and the values of dynamic coefficients are remarkable from the point of bridge designers. The analysis of dynamic coefficients on the frequency ratio of natural frequency of vehicle and natural frequency of a bridge and dependence of dynamic coefficients on the speed of vehicle motion are presented in this contribution.

The submitted paper is dedicated to the numerical simulation of moving load effect on road structures in the time domain. The dynamic load from vehicles on pavements is the subject of interest. The multi-body computing models of vehicles on various levels are introduces. The equations of motions are derived in the form of ordinary differential equations. The equations of motions are solved numerically by the use of step-by-step integration method in the environment of program system MATLAB. The road unevenness as the main source of kinematical excitation of vehicle is modeled as the random rod profile by the use of the power spectral density functions. The time histories of wonted functions are calculated. Especially the time histories of tire forces as the source of dynamic load of pavements are the object of interest. The conclusions are focused on the influence of the road profile quality on the values of tire forces.

Opis:
A finite volume numerical method for the prediction of a fluid flow in complex geometries such as turbomachinery channels has been parallelized using a domain decomposition approach. A mathematical formulation of a 3-D incompressible steady flow has been presented on the basis of the N-S equations in a grid-oriented co-ordinate system with contravariant velocity components. A parallelized pressure-based implicit algorithm with discretization on a staggered grid has been developed. A message exchange system with a boundary exchange, developed by the authors, has been described. Exemplary calculations have been carried out for a laminar flow through a curved duct and for an inviscid flow through a stage of the centrifugal pump. A good agreement has been obtained in both the cases. Despite considerable simplification that has been introduced in the flow through the pump stage, the computations have shown nearly the same pressure rise in the stage as the measurements. Further directions of numerical investigations of a flow through turbomachines, including in particular those devoted to pressure losses related to the rotor-stator interaction, have been mentioned.

This paper presents comparison of efficiency of basic integration methods implemented in App Inventor and Java for Android environment. Chosen methods (rectangle, trapezoidal and Simpson’s rules) were applied for linear, cubic and sine functions. Conducted experiment revealed that applications developed in App Inventor were significantly slower than in case of Java, which makes App Inventor unsuitable for applications involving intensive calculations.
