    Opis:
    Selection and proper application of business process modeling methods and techniques have a significant impact on organizational improvement capabilities as well as proper understanding of functionality of information systems that shall support activity of the organization. A number of business process modeling notations were popularized in practice in recent decades. Most significant of the notations include Business Process Modeling Notation (OMG BPMN) and several Unified Modeling Language (OMG UML) extensions. In this paper, the assessment whether one of the most flexible and strictly standardized contemporary business process modeling notations, i.e. Rational UML Profile for Business Modeling, enable business analysts to prepare business models that are all-embracing and understandable by all the stakeholders. After the introduction, methodology of research is discussed. Section 2 presents selected case study results. The paper is concluded with a summary.

    The article presents an attempt to evaluate commercially avaible software selected software vendors, used in the design of relational databases. In the comparative analyses both commercial and non-commercial solutions are taken into account. The research purpose is to propose a method of assessment of tools based on a modified model of usable quality presented in ISO 25010 and to select the best tool of the ones that have been evaluated.

    The article tackles the problem of improving mathematical communication in a group of students with different visual impairment levels, under the guidance of a group leader or a teacher. Visually impaired persons face a problem while learning mathematics. The said problem results from the specific nature in which mathematical content (formulas, function graphs, geometrical figures and projections of solids) is recorded and presented. The effectiveness of learning mathematics is boosted when students work in a group moderated by a leader. This requires them to share documents, with the leader being able to keep track of the individual work of each participant, and with the group discussing specific solutions. In order for a visually impaired student to be able to participate in and contribute to the work of the group, either remotely or locally, all participants must use universal IT tools that support visually impaired students without complicating the work of others. This paper presents interactive multimedia solutions developed under two research projects carried out by the author. The said solutions support communication in mathematics. Results of qualitative surveys on new solutions are presented, confirming their usefulness and the measurable impact they exert on the efficiency of the group’s work concerning mathematical problems.

    I dedicate this article, in Memoriam, to Professor Sylwester Dworacki, my first guide in Greek texts, with whom I later had the distinguished privilege to frequently discuss diverse issues in philological exegesis. The little-known figure of Hippocrates of Chios has recently attracted strong interest of several scholars, though mainly by historians of mathematics. Aristotle mentioned critically his quadrature of the circle by means of segments or by means of lunules. Aristotle’s commentator Simplicius, citing Eudemus of Rhodos, quoted a longer paraphrase of Hippocrates’ arguments regarding the quadrature of the lunules. Appropriately selected parts from these arguments are given here in Greek, along with their faithful Polish translation. One should carefully understand the critical stance of Aristotle, who in his particular way understood quadrature as the finding of the geometrical mean and, therefore, accused Hippocrates of using false diagrams.

    The article discusses the content of marginal notations extracted from Bulgarian manuscripts from 10th–16th century containing comments on the process of writing. The author focuses on notations that not only refer to the conditions, under which medieval codes are produced, but above all refer to the physical act of creating the text itself. The glosses discussed in the article describe specific writing materials – parchment, paper, ink and feathers. Information extracted from these marginal notations is confronted with the current knowledge on medieval writing methods.
    W artykule poddano analizie glosy i marginalia zamieszczane w średniowiecznych rękopisach bułgarskich z X–XVI wieku, zawierające informacje o procesie pisania. Autorka tekstu omawia nie tylko warunki, w których powstawały średniowieczne kodeksy, ale skupia swą uwagę również na fizycznym akcie tworzenia tekstów. W omówionych w artykule glosach występują takie materiały piśmiennicze jak: pergamin, papier, pióra, atramenty. Wyekscerpowany przez autorkę materiał został przez niego zestawiony ze współczesną wiedzą o średniowiecznych metodach pisania.

    In the article, a problem of conceiving and depicting of the Turkish authority is taken into account, for the considerations concentrate on the patterns of presentation regarding the Ottoman Turks’ invasion of the Balkan territory, together with their oppressive rule. The above mentioned patterns, present in the Old Serbian literature, were to commemorate all those tragic events. In the Old Serbian texts (pertaining to hagiography, historiography, hymnic literature, and also to the brief literary forms – notations), the Turkish authority was expressed in explicitly negative categories of illegality, violence, and godlessness, presented in the context of the “end of time”, Christian community’s martyrdom, maintained in the eschatological perspective of history’s definition and exegesis, the perspective so characteristic for the Middle Ages.

    2018 we are commemorating the hundredth anniversary of Polish independence regained after the years of partitions of Poland. Special celebrations are on all over the country; many events are planned to be continued up to 2021 in line with, inter alia, the programme of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage named Niepodległa 2017– 2021. The article presents the results of research on the material artefacts left behind by the not easily defined historic formation of the years 1968–1989, which can be generally described as an anti-communist civil resistance in the Polish People’s Republic. The actions taken by the resistance started from the so-called March events as well as the foundation of the “Ruch” Organisation. It was followed by: the Workers’ Defence Committee, the Committee for Social Self-Defence “KOR”, the Movement for Defence of Human and Civic Rights, the Confederation of Independent Poland, the Movement of Young Poland; next came: the Independent Self-governing Labour Union “Solidarity”, the Independent Students’ Association, and many smaller organisations or parties, up to the negotiations of the so-called Round Table. The opposition to communist regime was a major factor in the process of regaining by Poland its full independence, restoration of market economy, and putting an end to censorship that had been affecting the freedom of speech. The huge amount of published prohibited materials from this historic period, the so-called second circulation, remained: books, periodicals, leaflets, photos, posters, stamps, badges, cassette tapes, as well as printing machines, duplicating machines, broadcasting equipment, and other material remains. They are presently collected by Polish museums, some of them still in the process of organisation; they are also in possession of associations and foundations as well as private owners who often create remarkable collections, e.g. Krzysztof Bronowski’s “Muzeum Wolnego Słowa” (Museum of Free Speech) containing 700 000 items that arouse interest of foreign museums. Information about the individual oppositionists, events, underground prints and organisations published in the Internet also adds to the legacy of anticommunist resistance; among the available sources are: mentioned above “Muzeum Wolnego Słowa”, Dictionary Niezależni dla Kultury 1976–1989 by the Association of Free Speech, or collection of the “Karta” Centre. The author of the article attempts to classify these collections after interviewing the representatives of relevant institutions and organisations or private owners.
    W roku 2018 przypada 100. rocznica odzyskania przez Polskę niepodległości po latach zaborów. Obchodzimy ją uroczyście w całym kraju, a liczne wydarzenia będą trwać aż do 2021 r., zgodnie m.in. z programem Ministerstwa Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego Niepodległa 2017–2021. Artykuł prezentuje wyniki badań zasobów spuścizny materialnej po trudno definiowalnej formacji historycznej z lat 1968–1989, którą można szeroko i ogólnie nazwać opozycją antykomunistyczną w PRL. Działania opozycji rozpoczęły się od tzw. wydarzeń marcowych i powstania Organizacji „Ruch”, potem powstawały: Komitet Obrony Robotników, Komitet Samoobrony Społecznej „KOR”, Ruch Obrony Praw Człowieka i Obywatela, Konfederacja Polski Niepodległej, Ruch Młodej Polski, następnie: Niezależny Samorządny Związek Zawodowy „Solidarność”, Niezależne Zrzeszenie Studentów i wiele mniejszych organizacji lub partii, aż po obrady tzw. Okrągłego Stołu. Działania opozycji przyczyniły się do odzyskania przez Polskę pełnej suwerenności, przywrócenia gospodarki rynkowej i usunięcia cenzury, ograniczającej wolność słowa. Pozostała po tym okresie olbrzymia liczba wydawnictw tzw. drugiego obiegu w postaci książek, czasopism, druków ulotnych, zdjęć, plakatów, znaczków, plakietek czy kaset magnetofonowych, ale także maszyn drukarskich, powielaczy, sprzętu nadawczego czy innych świadectw materialnych. Gromadzone są one obecnie w istniejących w Polsce muzeach, czasami dopiero się tworzących, są własnością stowarzyszeń lub fundacji, a także pozostają w rękach prywatnych, tworząc często znaczące kolekcje, jak np. Muzeum Wolnego Słowa Krzysztofa Bronowskiego – liczący ponad 700 000 pozycji zbiór, którym interesują się muzea zagraniczne. Spuścizną po opozycji są także informacje o osobach, wydarzeniach, wydawnictwach lub formacjach opozycyjnych publikowane w internecie, m.in. wspomniane już Muzeum Wolnego Słowa, Słownik Niezależni dla Kultury 1976–1989 Stowarzyszenia Wolnego Słowa czy zbiory Ośrodka „Karta”. Artykuł podejmuje próbę klasyfikacji tych zbiorów na podstawie wywiadów z przedstawicielami posiadających je instytucji, organizacji lub właścicielami kolekcji.

    Kwerenda w zbiorze notacji filmowych Europejskiego Centrum Solidarności na temat I Krajowego Zjazdu Delegatów NSZZ „Solidarność”, dostarczyła niewielu danych, dlatego zdecydowano się przeprowadzić kolejne wywiady z uczestnikami tego wydarzenia. Przyniosły one mało dotąd znane informacje o Zjeździe, pokazują tym samym wartość tematycznych notacji filmowych, skupionych wyłącznie na danym zagadnieniu. W opracowaniu autorzy zwrócili uwagę m.in. na różnice w postrzeganiu wydarzenia, wynikające z odmiennych perspektyw jego uczestników.
    A source query among the collection of film records of the European Solidarity Centre aimed at obtaining information related to the 1st National Congress of Delegates of NSZZ “Solidarność” provided little or no data about the Congress, and that was the reason for conducting further interviews with participants at the event. They brought little-known information on the topic, thus showing the value of thematic film notations focused only on a given issue. The authors’ additional intention was to draw attention to the differences in the perception of events depending on the perspective.
