Opis:
This paper was inspired by the works of P. H. Rabinowitz. We study nonlinear eigenvalue problems for some fourth order elliptic partial differential equations with nonlinear perturbation of Rabinowitz type. We show the existence of an unbounded continuum of nontrivial positive solutions bifurcating from (μ₁,0), where μ₁ is the first eigenvalue of the linearization about 0 of the considered problem. We also prove the related theorem for bifurcation from infinity. The results obtained are similar to those proved by Rabinowitz for second order elliptic partial differential equations ([5]-[7]). The methods used are based, in principle, on the results of [1], [5], [6].

Opis:
The idea suggested in this article is to combine the Rangaig transform with the homotopy analysis method in order to facilitate the solution of nonlinear partial differentia equations. This method may be called the homotopy analysis Rangaig transform method (HARTM). The proposed example results showed that HARTM is an effective method for solving nonlinear partial differential equations.

In this study, we consider some nonlinear partial integro-differential equations. Most of these equations are used as mathematical models in many problems of physics, biology, chemistry, engineering, and in other areas. Our main purpose is to propose a new numerical method based on the Laguerre and Taylor polynomials, called matrix collocation method, for the numerical solution of the mentioned nonlinear equations under the initial or boundary conditions. To show the effectiveness of this approach, some examples along with error estimations are illustrated by tables and figures.

Opis:
A mathematical model for fluid and solute transport in peritoneal dialysis is constructed. The model is based on a three-component nonlinear system of two-dimensional partial differential equations for fluid, glucose and albumin transport with the relevant boundary and initial conditions. Our aim is to model ultrafiltration of water combined with inflow of glucose to the tissue and removal of albumin from the body during dialysis, by finding the spatial distributions of glucose and albumin concentrations as well as hydrostatic pressure. The model is developed in one spatial dimension approximation, and a governing equation for each of the variables is derived from physical principles. Under some assumptions the model can be simplified to obtain exact formulae for spatially non-uniform steady-state solutions. As a result, the exact formulae for fluid fluxes from blood to the tissue and across the tissue are constructed, together with two linear autonomous ODEs for glucose and albumin concentrations in the tissue. The obtained analytical results are checked for their applicability for the description of fluid-glucose-albumin transport during peritoneal dialysis.

Opis:
This paper presents the results of applying a new iterative method to linear and nonlinear fractional partial differential equations in fluid mechanics. A numerical analysis was performed to find an exact solution of the fractional wave equation and fractional Burgers’ equation, as well as an approximate solution of fractional KdV equation and fractional Boussinesq equation. Fractional derivatives of the order are described using Caputo's definition with 01<α≤ or 12<α≤. A comparative analysis of the results obtained using a new iterative method with those obtained by the Adomian decomposition method showed the first method to be more efficient and simple, providing accurate results in fewer computational operations. Given its flexibility and ability to solve nonlinear equations, the iterative method can be used to solve more complex linear and nonlinear fractional partial differential equations.

Opis:
The objective of this study is to present a new modification of the reduced differential transform method (MRDTM) to find an approximate analytical solution of a certain class of nonlinear fractional partial differential equations in particular, nonlinear time-fractional wave-like equations with variable coefficients. This method is a combination of two different methods: the Shehu transform method and the reduced differential transform method. The advantage of the MRDTM is to find the solution without discretization, linearization or restrictive assumptions. Three different examples are presented to demonstrate the applicability and effectiveness of the MRDTM. The numerical results show that the proposed modification is very effective and simple for solving nonlinear fractional partial differential equations.

Our aim is to adapt Fletcher's filter approach to solve optimal control problems for systems described by nonlinear Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) with state constraints. To this end, we propose a number of modifications of the filter approach, which are well suited for our purposes. Then, we discuss possible ways of cooperation between the filter method and a PDE solver, and one of them is selected and tested.
