Opis:
The Green’s function approach is applied for studying the exact and approximate null-controllability of a finite rod in finite time by means of a source moving along the rod with controllable trajectory. The intensity of the source remains constant. Applying the recently developed Green’s function approach, the analysis of the exact null-controllability is reduced to an infinite system of nonlinear constraints with respect to the control function. A sufficient condition for the approximate null-controllability of the rod is obtained. Since the exact solution of the system of constraints is a long-standing open problem, some heuristic solutions are used instead. The efficiency of these solutions is shown on particular cases of approximate controllability.

The problem considered is under which conditions in weakly nonlinear regression model with constraints I a weakly nonlinear hypothesis can be tested by linear methods. The aim of the paper is to find a region around the approximate value of the regression parameter with the following property. If we are certain that the actual value of the regression parameter is in this region, then the linear method of testing can be used without any significant deterioration of the inference.

The paper describes a nonlinear controller design technique applied to a servo drive in the presence of hard state constraints. The approach presented is based on nonlinear state-space transformation and adaptive backstepping. It allows us to impose hard constraints on the state variables directly and to achieve asymptotic tracking of any reference trajectory inside the constraints, despite unknown plant parameters. Two control schemes (with and without integral action) are derived, investigated and then compared. Several examples demonstrate the main features of the design procedure and prove that it may be applied in case of motion control problems in electric drive automation.

A sensitivity result for cone-constrained optimization problem in abstract Hilbert spaces is obtained, using a slight modification of Haraux's theorem on differentiability of the metric projection onto polyhedric sets. This result is applied to sensitivity analysis for nonlinear optimal control problems subject to first order state constraints.

We consider nonlinear optimal control problems with bound constraints for the controls. Under the assumption that the optimal control is continuous and has finitely many smooth boundary arcs, we show that the system of optimahty conditions can be reduced to a system of operator equations. Based on this system we investigate convergence of approximations by control parameterization.

In a series of the recent papers of the author, it was shown that the solutions and Lagrange multipliers of state-constrained optimal control problems are locally Lipschitz continuous and directionally differentiable functions of the parameter, under usual constraint qualifications and weakened second order conditions. In this paper, it is shown that those conditions are not only sufficient, but also necessary. Thus, they consitute a characterization of Lipschitz stability and sensitivity properties for state-constrained optimal control problems.

The quadratic loss penalty is a well known technique for optimization and control problems to treat constraints. In the present paper they are applied to handle control bounds in a boundary control problems with semilinear elliptic state equations. Unlike in the case of finite dimensional optimization for infinite dimensional problems the order of convergence could only be roughly estimated, but numerical experiments revealed a clearly better convergence behavior with constants independent of the dimension of the used discretization. The main result in the present paper is the proof of sharp convergence bounds for both, the finite und infinite dimensional problem with a mesh-independence in case of the discretization. Further, to achieve an efficient realization of penalty methods the principle of control reduction is applied, i.e. the control variable is represented by the adjoint state variable by means of some nonlinear function. The resulting optimality system this way depends only on the state and adjoint state. This system is discretized by conforming linear finite elements. Numerical experiments show exactly the theoretically predicted behavior of the studied penalty technique.

Opis:
Convergence results for two Lagrange-Newton-type methods of solving optimal control problems are presented. It is shown how the methods can be applied to a class of optimal control problems for nonlinear ODEs, subject to mixed control-state constraints. The first method reduces to an SQP algorithm. It does not require any information on the structure of the optimal solution. The other one is the shooting method, where information on the structure of the optimal solution is exploited. In each case, conditions for well-posedness and local quadratic convergence are given. The scope of applicability is briefly discussed.

The combination of model predictive control based on linear models (MPC) with feedback linearization (FL) has attracted interest for a number of years, giving rise to MPC+FL control schemes. An important advantage of such schemes is that feedback linearizable plants can be controlled with a linear predictive controller with a fixed model. Handling input constraints within such schemes is difficult since simple bound contraints on the input become state dependent because of the nonlinear transformation introduced by feedback linearization. This paper introduces a technique for handling input constraints within a real timeMPC/FL scheme, where the plant model employed is a class of dynamic neural networks. The technique is based on a simple affine transformation of the feasible area. A simulated case study is presented to illustrate the use and benefits of the technique.

In the paper a path following problem for a wheeled mobile robot of (2,0) type has been considered. The kinematic model of the robot was derived with respect to the Serret-Frenet frame. Two kinematic control algorithms - Samson and Morin-Samson - have been tested taking into account their sensitivity to a white noise with a zero mean appearing in the one of state variables. The properties of path following errors have been analysed using statistical techniques. The conclusions related to an acceptable level of noise and a range of applicability of the presented algorithms have been reached.

This paper describes a computationally efficient (sub-optimal) nonlinear predictive control algorithm. The algorithm uses a modified dual-mode approach which guarantees closed-loop stability. In order to reduce the computational burden, instead of online nonlinear optimisation used in the classical dual-mode control scheme, a nonlinear model of the plant is linearised on-line and a quadratic programming problem is solved. Calculation of the terminal set and implementation steps of the algorithm are detailed, especially for input-output models, which are widely used in practice.

A family {(O[sub h])} of parametric optimal control problems for nonlinear ODEs is considered. The problems are subject to pointwise inequality type state constraints. It is assumed that the reference solution is regular. The original problems (O[sub h]) are substituted by problems [...] subject to equality type constraints with the sets of activity depending on the parameter. Using the classical implicit function theorem, conditions are derived under which stationary points of [...] are Frechet differentiable functions of the parameter. This paper presents a control concept for a single-axle mobile robot moving on the horizontal plane. A mathematical model of the nonholonomic mechanical system is derived using Hamel's equations of motion. Subsequently, a concept for a tracking controller is described in detail. This controller keeps the mobile robot on a given reference trajectory while maintaining it in an upright position. The control objective is reached by a cascade control structure. By an appropriate input transformation, we are able to utilize an input-output linearization of a subsystem. For the remaining dynamics a linear set-point control law is presented. Finally, the performance of the implemented control law is illustrated by simulation results.
W artykule przedstawiono koncepcję sterowania ruchem jednoosiowego robota poruszającego się po płaszczyźnie poziomej. Model matematyczny nieholonomicznego systemu mechanicznego wyprowadzono korzystając z równań ruchu Hamela. Opisano następnie szczegółowo koncepcję sterownika śledzącego. Sterownik prowadzi poruszający się robot po zadanej trajektorii utrzymując go jednocześnie w pozycji pionowej. Cel sterowania jest osiągnięty przy zastosowaniu kaskadowej struktury sterowania. Dzięki odpowiedniej transformacji danych wejściowych, w podsystemie istnieje możliwość linearyzacji wejście-wyjście. Dla dynamiki pozostałej części zaprezentowano prawo liniowego sterowania stałowartościowego. Ostatecznie, jakość działania zastosowanych praw sterowania zilustrowano wynikami symulacji.
