    Background. Clinically, functional instability (FI) of metacarpophalangeal joints (MCPJ) is not considered to represent a pathology. This excessive mobility can be detected by the application of external forces to a MCPJ at different angles. Our study aimed to measure the FI of 2nd to 5th MCPJ. Materials and methods. A group of 36 healthy right-handed individuals were enrolled. The value of FI was measured in millimeters and verified by a CT scan. Statistical calculations was made in Statistica v.10.0. Results. The largest values of the right and left-hand finger posterior displacement (FI) in the second to fifth MCPJ were obtained in the neutral position 0° (p<0.05). Measurements of volar displacement of the proximal phalanx second to fifth MCPJs in both hands revealed higher values at position 0° (p<0.05). Conclusions. 1. FI of the second to fifth MCPJs is determined by anatomical configuration and dynamic stabilizers. 2. Instability measurements show that posterior displacement of the proximal phalanges is greater by at least 1 mm in the 0° neutral position.

    Opis:
    Peculiarities of metals uptake by the biofuel crop Miscanthus x giganteus were explored during plant growth at soil from the military site (Sliač, Slovakia). The experiment was carried out in greenhouse during two vegetation seasons. Research soil was predominantly elevated in Fe and Ti, while other metals (As, Cu, Mn, Sr, Zn and Zr) were presented at order of magnitude lower concentrations. No inhibition of plant growth was observed. The calculated Bioconcentration Factor showed that levels of metals’ accumulation by plant roots, stems and leaves were independent of metals’ concentrations in the soil. The accumulation of metals by stems and leaves was much lower than by roots. As, Zr, Ti were almost not accumulated by stems and leaves during both seasons; accumulation of Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn and Sr was not essential which confi rmed that biomass of M. x giganteus might be processed for the energy purpose.

    Opis:
    In the context of contemporary society, the behaviour of the consumer is influenced to a great extent by models that appear in advertisements. Romanian clothing companies should take into account that globally they are competing against top brand companies with proven marketing strategies and which make use of celebrity endorsements in order to increase the value of their brands and to strengthen their image. The research purposes are as follows: (1) to empirically test – by using non-parametric statistics and through a convenience sampling and self-administrative questionnaire – Romanian consumers’ preferences for using celebrity endorsements in fashion clothing TV advertisements both for Romanian and global brands, (2) to measure customers’ brand loyalty, (3) customers’ awareness, and (4) consumers’ purchase intentions towards brands. A set of five research hypotheses was tested. Our results validate the international ones. These results fill a gap in the little empirical knowledge available on celebrity endorsements in Romania.
    W kontekście współczesnego społeczeństwa na zachowania konsumenta duży wpływ mają wzorce pojawiające się w reklamach. Rumuńskie firmy odzieżowe powinny liczyć się z tym, że na całym świecie konkurują z najlepszymi markami, które mają sprawdzone strategie marketingowe i korzystają z rekomendacji celebrytów, aby zwiększyć wartość swoich marek i wzmocnić swój wizerunek. Cele badawcze pracy były następujące: (1) empiryczne przetestowanie – za pomocą nieparametrycznych statystyk oraz za pomocą wygodnego pobierania próbek i kwestionariusza samo-administracyjnego – preferencji rumuńskich konsumentów w zakresie stosowania rekomendacji celebrytów w reklamach telewizyjnych odzieży modowej zarówno dla rumuńskich, jak i światowych marek , (2) pomiar lojalności klientów wobec marki, (3) świadomość klientów i (4) zamiary zakupowe konsumentów względem marek. Przetestowano zestaw pięciu hipotez badawczych. Przedstawione wyniki wypełniają lukę w niewielkiej wiedzy empirycznej dostępnej na temat rekomendacji celebrytów w Rumunii.

    Opis:
    The aim of this research was to study a nonparametric estimator of the density and mode function of a scalar response variable given a functional variable, when the observations are i.i.d. This proposed estimator is given by combining Missing At Random (MAR) with the local linear approach. Finally, a comparison study based on simulated data is also provided to illustrate the finite sample performances and the usefulness of the local linear approach with MAR to the presence of even a small proportion of outliers in the data.
    Celem analizy było zbadanie nieparametrycznego estymatora funkcji gęstości i trybu skalarnej zmiennej odpowiedzi na zmienną funkcyjną, gdy obserwacje są i.i.d. Ten proponowany estymator jest tworzony przez połączenie metody Missing At Random (MAR) z lokalnym podejściem liniowym. Na koniec zapewniono również badanie porównawcze oparte na symulowanych danych, aby zilustrować wydajność skończonej próbki i przydatność lokalnego podejścia liniowego z MAR do obecności nawet niewielkiej części wartości odstających w danych.
