Opis:
ANFO is a well-known, reliable and safe commercial explosive. It has been around since the late 1950’s and its detonation properties are well characterized. In this study, the detonation process of dry, wet and aluminised ANFO, was recorded using two high-speed cameras with recording rates of 1,200 fps and 50,000 fps. The 1,200-fps footage allowed the observation of the post blast fumes (i.e. NOx) produced by ANFOs with different water contents. The 50,000-fps footage allowed the observation of the detonation area, gas expansion phase and the measurement of the velocity of detonation (VOD). The video footage also recorded a bright zone in front of the gases (longer than 50 mm). We assumed that a reaction is taking place in this zone, but it is difficult to be sure if this is the reaction zone or not as it is longer than previously reported reaction zone lengths. Analysis showed that ANFO detonates effectively for water contents of up to 9 wt.%, and more importantly, there is little variation in the VOD. As far as the expansion of gases is concerned, the ANFO-Al expansion rate appears to be different. In this mixture, the absence of NOx fumes could have been due to the expected higher temperatures produced by the burning of the aluminium additive as observed in the images recorded with the high-speed camera.

Under the circumstances of the market economy the necessity to obtain the highest quality not only with regard to the product and the service, but also in all the other spheres of the company’s activities gains a special significance. This is why quality should become one of the main strategic factors of the company. The broadly understood quality carries great profits with itself. First of all the company gains a better reputation; its image becomes a lot better in the customers’ eyes. This is connected with an increase in the sales, even with a lesser marketing effort, which gives the company a decrease in the costs and a lasting profitability. Quality as perceived by the customers is its subjective evaluation conditioned by the customers’ expectations connected with the product, owing to which it has a strong effect on the decision process concerning buying. It has to be shaped according to the needs of the future user. This is why there is a particular necessity to care about the customer, as it is him that is the most important factor conditioning the company’s success.

In this paper, a new proof of ambiguity of the formula describing the aliasing and folding effects in spectra of sampled signals is presented. It uses the model of non-ideal sampling operation published by Vetterli et al. Here, their model is modified and its black-box equivalent form is achieved. It is shown that this modified model delivers the same output sequences but of different spectral properties. Finally, a remark on two possible understandings of the operation of non-ideal sampling is enclosed as well as fundamental errors that are made in perception and description of sampled signals are considered.

The problem of an inconsistent description of an “interface” between the A/D converter and the digital signal processor that implements, for example, a digital filtering (described by a difference equation) – when a sequence of some hypothetical weighted Dirac deltas occurs at its input, instead of a sequence of numbers – is addressed in this paper. Digital signal processors work on numbers, and there is no “interface” element that converts Dirac deltas into numbers. The output of the A/D converter is directly connected to the input of the signal processor. Hence, a clear conclusion must follow that sampling devices do not generate Dirac deltas. Not the other way around. Furthermore, this fact has far-reaching implications in the spectral analysis of discrete signals, as discussed in other works referred to in this paper.

In this paper, it has been shown that the spectrum aliasing and folding effects occur only in the case of non-ideal signal sampling. When the duration of the signal sampling is equal to zero, these effects do not occur at all. In other words, the absolutely necessary condition for their occurrence is just a nonzero value of this time. Periodicity of the sampling process plays a secondary role.

Opis:
In the paper, we discuss dynamics of two kinds of mechanical systems. Initially, we consider vibro-impact systems which have many implemen- tations in applied mechanics, ranging from drilling machinery and metal cutting processes to gear boxes. Moreover, from the point of view of dynamical systems, vibro-impact systems exhibit a rich variety of phe- nomena, particularly chaotic motion. In this paper, we review recent works on the dynamics of vibro-impact systems, focusing on chaotic mo- tion and its control. The considered systems are a gear-rattling model and a smart damper to suppress chaotic motion. Furthermore, we inve- stigate systems with non-ideal energy source, represented by a limited power supply. As an example of a non-ideal system, we analyse chaotic dynamics of the damped Duffing oscillator coupled to a rotor. Then, we show how to use a tuned liquid damper to control the attractors of this non-ideal oscillator.
Pokazano sposób zastosowania płynnego tłumika do sterowania formą atraktorów obserwowanych w nieidealnym oscylatorze.

The dynamical system investigated in this work is a nonlinear flexible beam-like structure in slewing motion. Non-dimensional and perturbed governing equations of motion are presented. The analytical solution for the linear part of these perturbed equations for ideal and for non-ideal cases are obtained. This solution is necessary for the investigation of the complete weak nonlinear problem where all nonlinearities are small perturbations around a linear known solution. This investigation shall help the analyst in the modelling of dynamical systems with structure-actuator interactions.
Układem dynamicznym badanym w pracy jest podzespół zawierający podatną belkę poruszającą się ruchem obrotowym w płaszczyźnie poziomej. Zaprezentowano bezwymiarowe i perturbowane równania ruchu. Rozwiązania analityczne części zlinearyzowanej tych równań uzyskano dla przypadku idealnego i nieidealnego. Taka postać rozwiązania jest niezbędna do analizy zupełnego i słabo nieliniowego problemu, w którym nieliniowości stanowią niewielkie perturbacje wokół rozwiązania liniowego. Prezentowane wyniki badań mogą okazać się pomocą dla analityków zajmujących się modelowaniem układów dynamicznych uwzględniających interakcje zachodzące pomiędzy daną konstrukcją bazową, a zamocowanymi na niej aktywnymi elementami wykonawczymi (aktuatorami).

The dynamic model of a linear energy harvester excited by a non-ideal power source is coupled to a controller to maximum vibration adjustment. Numerical analysis is taken to evaluate the energy harvested keeping the vibration optimized for the maximum interaction to the energy source using linear matrix inequalities for control driven. The dimensionless power output, actuation power and net output power is determined. As a result, it is possible to verify that the total energy harvested via exogenous vibration using the proposed controller is increased up to 65 times when in comparison to the open loop system.

In this paper, the problem of motion of controlled mechanical systems under a servo constraint is considered. The servo constraint which is prescribed by the designer is supposed to be non-ideal, that is, it does work in a virtual displacement. The second order form constraint is introduced to obtain a closed-form (i.e., analytical form) control input. The final servo control contains two parts: the first one generates the constraint force so that the constraint is exactly followed, while the second one can be designed by the designer for the facility, such as to compensate the effects of the friction force. After geometrical analysis applied to the Coulomb friction forces, we found that they actually depend on the control forces (i.e., the two are coupled). Application to a 3-DOF robot manipulator is made.

A general and simple method has been developed for calculating the detonation pressure of different kinds of ideal and non-ideal explosives containing aluminum (Al) and ammonium nitrate (AN). The new model can be applied to CHNO and CHNOFCl explosives in pure form or as mixtures as well as non-ideal mixed explosives including Al and AN. It can also be used for different plastic bonded explosives (PBXs). There is no need for any prior knowledge about the measured or calculated properties of the explosive. The only data needed are the standard enthalpy of formation and the loading density of the desired explosive. The predicted detonation pressures were compared with other predictive methods and outputs of BKWS-EOS, in both full and partial equilibrium. Different statistical parameters as well as cross validation parameters showed that the new model is precise, accurate, well-defined, and robust for predicting the detonation pressures of CHNOFCl(Al/AN) energetic materials.

An improved simple method is presented for calculation of the detonation velocity of CHNO and CHNOFCl explosives, as well as non-ideal explosives containing aluminum (Al) and ammonium nitrate (AN) additives. In contrast to the available complex computer codes, where the estimated detonation velocities of non-ideal explosives for equilibrium and steady state calculations show significant differences from the measured data, this simple method gives more reliable results. Suitable decomposition paths are suggested in which the partial interaction of Al with the gaseous products and the decomposition of AN are assumed for composite explosives containing Al/AN additives. The predicted detonation velocities using the new method are good compared to those from one of the well-known empirical methods and from computer codes using full and partial equilibrium of Al/AN.

The objective of the present work is to analyze the dynamics of a vibro-impact system consisting of two blocks of different mass coupled by a spring with two stages. Two different types of excitation sources for the system are used in the analysis: the first is an ideal excitation in form of a harmonic force, and the second is a non-ideal excitation in form of a DC electric motor with limited power supply which has an unbalanced rotor. The control parameter for both situations is the excitation frequency of the system. The analysis includes time histories of displacements and velocities, phase portraits and diagrams of the displacement and frequency, used to show the Sommerfeld effect. For certain values of the parameters of the system, the motion is chaotic. The mathematical model of the system is used to obtain an insight to the global dynamics of the vibro-impact system. The model with a non-ideal excitation is more realistic, complete and complex than the model with the ideal excitation.
