Opis:
This article contains the analysis of the correlation between the cone resistance qc from CPTU tests and shear modulus G0 determined from seismic tests SDMT and SCPTU. The analysis was performed for sands located in Poland, characterised by differential grain size distribution and origin. The significant impact of the independent variables; grain size, preconsolidation stress σ’p, geostatic vertical stress σ’v0 and relative density index on the dependencies analysed, were examined in three stages. Firstly, a general relationship between the cone resistance and shear modulus G0 was established; in the second stage, an analysis was carried out in selected groups of subsoil; and in the third stage, the influence of other independent variables was taken into account. In each stage, the functional form of the dependency was determined, and their statistical significance was assessed throughout coefficient of determination R2. For more variables, multivariable regression analysis was applied for assessment. Conducted analysis showed that the overall view of the relation between the cone resistance qc and shear modulus G0 has low evaluation of the statistical significance. This fact is consistent with the theoretical assessment of this relationship. To obtain a satisfactory assessment of this dependency, it is necessary to construct empirical equations for individual groups of soil, taking into account other independent variables; preconsolidation stress σ’p, vertical stress σ’vo and relative density index. This approach allows to assess the local correlation relationship, which is very useful during the geological project.

Opis:
The paper aims to comparison the permeability coefficient in non-cohesive soils by the method of test pumping and based on tests in a consolidometer. The tests were carried out on 18 types of non-cohesive soils with different fraction. Pumping tests were carried out according to the standard method i.e. by making one well with a diameter of 400 mm and installing two piezometers at different distances from the well. The water table change was measured in piezometers during water pumping from the well. Tests in the consolidometer were carried out on soil samples that were first compacted to the same density index as in the test site. The tests were carried out with a continuous inflow of water from below with constant gradients of 0.50. The tests presented in the paper allow to verify and compare the values of the permeability coefficient in non-cohesive soils determined in the field and laboratory tests.

Opis:
The influence of the soil granulation, grain diameter and the soil type on the FID signal intensity is presented. The FID signal intensity is used to determine the water content in soil sample by the use of the NMR spectrometry. Eighty five samples taken from four different soils (3 sand,1 sandy silt) were tested. The samples were characterized by different masses and water contents. The results of the FID signal intensity were compared to the mass of water in soils calculated by empirical formula obtained for clay soils and the mass of water obtained by the oven-drying method. The empirical formula using FID Signal Intensity can be used to calculate the mass of water in every soil regardless of its type. The type of soil, grain diameter and granulation do not appear to influence the FID Signal Intensity value. The factors that influence the FID Signal Intensity are the mass of water in soil, the water content in case of poorly sorted soils and the mass of soil sample in well sorted soils. The statistical analysis were conducted using Statistica 9.1 software.

Opis:
The paper analyzes the problem of initial compaction of a non-cohesive soil sample on the example of dry silty sand samples. Two different compaction methodologies were used: I) dynamic compaction - using split Hopkinson pressure bar and II) vibration compaction - using a vibrating shaker. A better result of the compaction process was obtained for dynamic compaction with an initial pressure value of 0.5 bar (small difference in the result - both methods obtained comparable results). The paper also includes a numerical analysis of the calibration of the pneumatic launcher in the Matlab environment on the basis of the system of difference equations. The calibration process was carried out in the initial pressure range from 0.5 to 3.0 bar for three different variants of the barprojectile length: 100 mm, 200 mm and 250 mm and compared with the experimental analysis - the results were consistent.
