Opis:
The paper presents complete analysis of differential amplifier noise figure single-ended measurement setup. The analysis is based on scattering matrix representation for the network and wave representation for noise. As a result, there are presented equations allowing the differential amplifier gain and noise figure to be de-embedded with single-ended measurements. De-embedding equations are given for the balanced amplifier and for the fully differential amplifier.

Opis:
In this paper there is presented and discussed a general analysis method for noise characterization of noisy multi-element multiport differential networks. It is based on mixed mode, differential and common mode, noise waves representation of noise, generalized mixed-mode scattering parameters and generalized mixed-mode noise wave correlation parameters for the network. There are derived analytical relation between the noise figure for a given output port and the noise matrix and the scattering parameters of the network, as well as the correlations between the input port noise waves. The signal to noise ratio degradation factor is derived and discussed, too. Presented results can be implemented directly in a CAD software for noise analysis of differential microwave multi-element multiport networks with differential as well as with conventional single ended ports.

Opis:
In this paper, we have reported a very advanced hybrid optical amplifier (Raman-TDFF amplifier) for the 180 × 10 Gbps super dense wavelength division multiplexing system with the channel spacing of 100 GHz. The performances of the model have been evaluated in terms of gain and noise figures for the C-band (from 1525 to 1565 nm). Gain flatness (> 21 dB) is recorded with the least variation of 2.5 dB without using any cost effective technique. Further, the effect of the proposed hybrid optical amplifier has also been analyzed with slightly shifting the wavelength spectrum for the same feature.

Hybrid NEMS interfaces are the key to systems combining the benefits of highly sensitive miniaturized mechanical sensors with the vast functionalities available in electronics. In this context, a phase-locked loop, locking on a suspended resonating carbon nanotube NEMS, is implemented and characterized, able to start, track, amplify and sustain NEMS oscillation up to 100MHz in a sensing environment. Detection of the signals out of the NEMS has been found most challenging and diverse RF front-ends meant for interfacing high-impedance carbon nanotube based NEMS are analyzed. Given the feeble signals from the NEMS, their high output impedance and non-negligible interconnect parasitics, front-end design must imperatively focus on minimal noise figure. Limits on minimal detectable signal are extracted via design, simulation and characterization of a 3-stage common-emitter front-end.

Opis:
This paper presents active inductor based VCO design for wireless applications based on analysis of active inductor models (Weng-Kuo Cascode active inductor & Liang Regular Cascode active inductor) with feedback resistor technique. Embedment of feedback resistor results in the increment of inductance as well as the quality factor whereas the values are 125.6@2.4GHz (Liang) and 98.7@3.4GHz (Weng- Kuo). The Weng-Kuo active inductor based VCO shows a tuning frequency of 1.765GHz ~2.430GHz (31.7%), while consuming a power of 2.60 mW and phase noise of -84.15 dBc/Hz@1MHz offset. On the other hand, Liang active inductor based VCO shows a frequency range of 1.897GHz ~2.522GHz (28.28%), while consuming a power of 1.40 mW and phase noise of -80.79 dBc/Hz@1MHz offset. Comparing Figure-of-Merit (FoM), power consumption, output power and stability in performance, designed active inductor based VCOs outperform with the state-of-the-art.

Opis:
We investigate Chaucer’s use of interjections in Fragment III of the Canterbury Tales, which comprises “The Wife of Bath’s Prologue and Tale”, “The Friar’s Prologue and Tale”, and “The Summoner’s Prologue and Tale”. We discuss the problem of how to distinguish interjections from other word classes, and we distinguish primary interjections such as allas, buf, ey, fy, hayt, lo, weilawei and secondary interjections, such as hayl, look, now, peace, welcome, why. As a third group we also take corroborative phrases such as by God into consideration. We look at the frequency of the various interjections: Now, lo, nay as well as a, by God, and pardee are frequent and occur in all the tales of Fragment III; on the other hand of the frequency scale there are buf, which is a hapax legomenon, and the rarely attested hayt. We describe the interjectional spectrum used in Fragment III based on their functions. Interjections can, for example, serve as indicators of emotions (allas, weilawei), as corroboratives (by God) and expletives (a devel weye), as discourse markers (now thanne), as response forms (nay, ye, yis), as polite speech act formulae (grant mercy, no fors), etc. The paper further offers an analysis of the phonology, morphology, verse meter and stress pattern. As the Middle English vocabulary generally, the etymology of the interjections is mixed: some go back to Old English, especially weilawei, but many were borrowed from French (or ultimately from Latin), e.g., allas, ey, fy, pardee. Chaucer’s characters often use not just one, but two or three interjections in combination, e.g., Allas! and weylawey! or allas nay, nay, mainly probably for additional emphasis. We suggest that that the interjectional spectrum in Fragment III (1) expands on Biber et al’s. (1999) inserts and Culpeper and Kytö’s (2010) pragmatic noise; (2) undergoes change like words; and is indexical (3) of a multi-lingual social context (4) and of oral and literary conventions.
