Opis:: Neuroendocrine carcinoma is a rare neoplasm, and its most common location in the head and neck area is the larynx, especially the epiglottis and the supraglottic region. The first case of neuroendocrine carcinoma of the larynx was reported in 1969 by Goldman et al. Expression of the two crucial markers, synaptophysin and chromogranin, along with neural cell adhesion molecule (CD56) should be mentioned among the neuroendocrine features detected on immunohistochemistry. Human papilloma virus (HPV16/18) infection in the laryngeal neuroendocrine carcinoma can be one of the causal factors, and the detection of HPV should be considered as a standard procedure for the diagnosis and treatment.

Opis:: Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare cutaneous malignancy, with aggressive behaviour. The discovery of MCC polyomavirus (MCPyV) provided a major insight into pathogenesis of MCC, as MCPyV is present in most MCC tumours. The primary treatment of locoregional MCC is surgery, and sentinel lymph node biopsy should be performed in all cases at clinical stage I-II. Adjuvant radiotherapy decreases disease recurrences in stage I-III of the disease. Chemotherapy is primarily used for palliation and provides overall response rates of approximately 70%; however, the disease often recurs within a few months. All cases of MCC should be managed in an experienced multidisciplinary setting.

Opis:: The following changes were introduced in 2017 WHO and TnM classifications: 1. a new group of well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors with the proliferation index of more than 20% and mitotic count of 20 per 10 hpf (NET G3), formerly classified under neuroendocrine carcinomas (NEC G3) 2. the division of poorly differentiated neuroendocrine tumors (PD NET) with the Ki-67 index of more than 20% into two groups in terms of the degree of differentiation and prognosis: NET G3 and NEC. 3. the replacement of MANEC with MINEN within the mixed group 4. the verification of histological grading (G) criteria 5. new TNM staging criteria, based on ENETS guidelines.

Opis:: The paper presents a case of primary neuroendocrine breast carcinoma that coexisted with a typical infiltrating carcinoma (BC) within the same mammary gland. It was diagnosed post-operatively on histopathological examination and confirmed by immunohistochemical analysis.
W pracy przedstawiono przypadek pierwotnego neuroendokrynnego raka piersi, który współwystępował z typowym rakiem naciekającym (BC) w tym samym gruczole piersiowym. Został zdiagnozowany pooperacyjnie w badaniu histopatologicznym i potwierdzony w badaniach immunohistochemicznych.
