Opis:
The paper addresses planning and design of contemporary networks of mobile telecommunication, where an existing network is subject to far reaching development and modication, thus evolution with diverse requirements of users and diverse density of network cells. This leads to considering diverse variants of network designs. When several variants of network designs are available, an investor might ask for a ranking of these variants. The investor is obviously not bounded by the results of such a ranking and might select a variant not highest in the ranking, but an objectied ranking might help in the selection. Therefore, the paper presents the way of computing and examples of objectied multiple criteria ranking, possibly not requiring the determination of weighting coecients.

Opis:
This paper uses network-based efficiency measures to evaluate the efficiency implications of the evolution of the transport network in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) over the period 1988-2008. The network-based efficiency measures consider the relative ease of access between cities in terms of weighted relative travel cost. The results indicate that the spatial patterns of network efficiency are different from ‘core-periphery’ pattern derived from classical accessibility indicators. This implies that there are low network efficiency cities and high network efficiency cities in core and peripheral regions at the same time. In the first stage (1988-1998), the efficiency contour shows a ‘corridor’ pattern along the GuangShen traffic corridor between Guangzhou and Shenzhen in the eastern side of the Pearl estuary; in the following decade (1998-2008), with large-scale infrastructural developments, the spatial pattern has changed from a north-south corridor to an east-west contiguous distribution pattern. By 2008, the mean network efficiency value indicates that the efficiency levels within the PRD as a whole are tending towards optimal levels. We conclude by suggesting ways to promote the urban economic development based on the relationship between the network efficiency and per capita GDP.

Human brain is “the perfect guessing machine” (James V. Stone (2012) Vision and Brain, Cambridge, Mass: The MIT Press, p. 155), trying to interpret sensory data in the light of previous biases or beliefs. Bayesian inference is carried out by three complex networks of the human brain: salience network, central executive network, and default mode network. Their function is analysed both in neurotypical person and Attention Deficit Disorder. Modern human being having predictive brain and overloaded mind must develop social identity, whose evolution went probably through three stages: social selection based on punishment, sexual selection based on reputation, and group selection based on identity.

Revolutionary development of the internet has significantly affected not only society and culture, but also economy. The biggest network corporations has not been passive in the face of upcoming changes and began perfectly to use people attachment to the network. The commercial urge has led to the objectification of man and the measuring of his or her value in the economic terms. Capitalism has exacted its toll on the nets functioning, but the network, ruled by its own rules, has also began to influence on the form of that system and to actualize it. We have became the witnesses of the capitalist market evolution and the obsolescence of some concepts.

Opis:
Artificial neural networks are essential intelligent tools for various learning tasks. Training them is challenging due to the nature of the data set, many training weights, and their dependency, which gives rise to a complicated high-dimensional error function for minimization. Thus, global optimization methods have become an alternative approach. Many variants of differential evolution (DE) have been applied as training methods to approximate the weights of a neural network. However, empirical studies show that they suffer from generally fixed weight bounds. In this research, we propose an enhanced differential evolution algorithm with adaptive weight bound adjustment (DEAW) for the efficient training of neural networks. The DEAW algorithm uses small initial weight bounds and adaptive adjustment in the mutation process. It gradually extends the bounds when a component of a mutant vector reaches its limits. We also experiment with using several scales of an activation function with the DEAW algorithm. Then, we apply the proposed method with its suitable setting to solve function approximation problems. DEAW can achieve satisfactory results compared to exact solutions.
Algorytm DEAW wykorzystuje małe początkowe granice wag i adaptacyjne dostosowanie w procesie mutacji. Stopniowo rozszerza on granice, gdy składowa wektora mutacji osiąga swoje granice. Eksperymentujemy również z wykorzystaniem kilku skal funkcji aktywacji z algorytmem DEAW. Następnie, stosujemy proponowaną metodę z jej odpowiednim ustawieniem do rozwiązywania problemów aproksymacji funkcji. DEAW może osiągnąć zadowalające rezultaty w porównaniu z rozwiązaniami dokładnymi.

Opis:
This paper introduces an LTE system level simulator and presents investigations of scenarios with differently balanced traffic emergence between uplink and downlink as well as inhomogeneous distribution of link direction asymmetry. In the TDD mode of LTE, duplexing is implemented via sharing the time domain between uplink and downlink users. This is done by different switching configurations, which offer varying capacity distributions between downlink and uplink, from a downlink-heavy configuration with 90 percent of the capacity in downlink direction to uplink heavy configurations with 60 percent uplink. We utilize the available capacity perfectly by adjusting the link configuration appropriately to traffic emergence. Performance gains when selecting a configuration appropriate to the arising traffic compared to usage of a static configuration with equally distributed capacity are investigated. In case of different configurations, additional interference can occur in neighbored cells due to distinct communication direction at the same time. We clarify the differences between these scenarios and quantify the gains and losses when the switching point between uplink and downlink is variable.

Opis:
The growth in worldwide data traffic and user subscriptions in mobile telecommunication networks makes it increasingly difficult to manage network performance in an environment already containing multiple radio access technologies. Despite the rise of 5G, LTE remains the dominant technology, and new cells are installed daily to support traffic growth and new services such as voice over LTE. Detecting faulty cells in the network is one of the main concerns of operators. Self organizing networks have been introduced to deal with this problem, and their self healing functionality has improved cell fault management. Nonetheless, faulty cell detection remains challenging, and most of the tasks involved are still done manually. This paper introduces a new method of faulty cell detection in an LTE radio access network, applying multiple criteria methods to this problem. The cells are ranked based on selected key performance indicators, using the multi attribute utility theory to construct a utility function. The analytic hierarchy process is used to define weights for the criteria.

The long-term evolution of the river beds of Nida River in Pińczów and Wiślica gauging station as well as an analysis of the causes of significant cases of lowering of the bottom of stream beds are presented in the paper. The intensity of river bed evolution as a stochastic process is described with the use of a statistical model. The analysis of the intensity of the process of river bed erosion was conducted under the assumption that the observed long-term trend of the lowest annual water levels reflect the elevation of the river bottom in the same years. The recorded observations at the Pińczów and Wiślica gauging stations on the Nida River, covering over 70-year period of time, are analyzed. Observations of the variability in the studied bottom levels over the decades allow concluding that the great transformation of riverbeds occurred there. The observations and calculations show that in Pińczów multistream or meandering river bed changed into straight channel and the process of shallowing of the river bed appeared. At the Wiślica gauging station the process of riverbed erosion with the variable intensity was observed. The research shows that the causes of these changes observed in Pińczów and Wiślica are not natural, but rather of human activity.

Opis:
By considering a specific scenario of early language evolution, here I advocate taking into account one of the most obvious players in the evolution of human language capacity: (sexual) selection. The proposal is based both on an internal reconstruction using syntactic theory, and on comparative typological evidence, directly bringing together, formal, typological, and evolutionary considerations. As one possible test case, transitivity is decomposed into evolutionary primitives of syntactic structure, revealing a common denominator and the building blocks for crosslinguistic variation in transitivity. The approximations of this early grammar, identified by such a reconstruction, while not identical constructs, are at least as good proxies of the earliest stages of grammar as one can find among tools, cave paintings, or bird song. One subtype of such “living fossils” interacts directly with biological considerations of survival, aggression, and mate choice, while others clearly distinguish themselves in fMRI experiments. The fMRI findings are consistent with the proposal that the pressures to be able to master ever more and more complex syntax were at least partly responsible for driving the selection processes which gradually increased the connectivity of the Broca’s-basal ganglia network, crucial for syntactic processing, among other important functions.
