    The article analyses the active part and assignments of Salesian brothers in the teaching function of the Church. The problem is examined with reference to the third book of the Code of Canon Law 1983 and law of the Society of St. Francis Sales. The author considers assignments of Salesian brothers in the ministry of the divine word, the missionary action of the Church, the Catholic education and instruments of social communication. Salesian brothers can fundamentally participate in all teaching functions. Small limitations, e.g. the prohibition of the predication of the homily during the Holy Mass, are derived from theological or legal reasons.

    The purpose of the article is to present the issue of the use by the episcopal conferences of obligatory norms of the Code of Canon Law within the purview of the munus docendi of the Church. The Code obliges or enables episcopal conferences to issue norms complementary to the CCL, among others regarding the Magisterium of the Church. In three cases, the Code obliges episcopal conferences to make arrangements regarding the munus docendi of the Church (can. 772 § 2, 788 § 3, 831 § 2). The author presented and evaluated the provisions of selected episcopal conferences in the field of the teaching task of the Church.
    Celem artykułu jest ukazanie zagadnienia wykorzystania przez konferencje episkopatów norm obligatoryjnych Kodeksu Prawa Kanonicznego w zakresie munus docendi Kościoła. Kodeks zobowiązuje albo umożliwia konferencjom biskupim wydanie norm komplementarnych do KPK m.in. w zakresie zadania nauczycielskiego Kościoła. W trzech przypadkach Kodeks zobowiązuje konferencje biskupie do wydania ustaleń w zakresie munus docendi Kościoła (kan. 772 § 2, 788 § 3, 831 § 2). Autor przedstawił i ocenił przepisy wybranych konferencji episkopatów w dziedzinie nauczycielskiego zadania Kościoła.

    Jezus Chrystus powierzył Kościołowi zadanie nauczania. W 1588 r. papież Sykstus V utworzył Kongregację do Spraw Uniwersytetu Studiów Rzymskich, aby nadzorować studia zarówno w Studium Rzymskim, jak i innych znaczących uniwersytetach tamtych czasów. Następni Biskupi Rzymu utworzyli: Kongregację Studiów, Świętą Kongregację Seminariów i Uniwersytetów, Świętą Kongregację do Spraw Wychowania Katolickiego, a w 1988 r. Kongregację Seminariów i Instytutów Studiów. Papież Benedykt XVI w 2013 r. zmienił nazwę dykasterii na Kongregację Edukacji Katolickiej (Instytutów Studiów).
    The founder of the Church entrusted the Church the teaching function. In 1588 Pope Sixtus V erected the Congregatio pro universitate studii romani to supervise the studies at the University of Rome and other notable universities of the time. Then the Roman Pontiffs created: the Congregatio studiorum, Congregatio de Seminariis et Studiorum Universitatibus, Sacra Congregatio pro institutione Catholica, and in 1988 Congregation for Catholic Education (in Seminaries and Institutes of Study). The Pope Benedict XVI changed in 2013 the name of the dycastery into Congregation for Catholic Education (Institutes of Study).

    The Catholic Church has always taken care about giving the Christian faithful a proper upbringing. Even today education is one of its key tasks. School is a crucial element in the process of education. One of obligations of State is controlling the level of education and because of this, there are many legal acts, which regulate the system of education in Poland. The first part of the article describes standards of Catholic education. The basic principles are: the rights and duties of parents and the Church to the education of children and youth. The second part presents regulations of the Church and State for Catholic schools. These rules govern issues related to the duties and powers of the lay faithful, setting up schools and the supervision of competent ecclesiastical authority on teaching and upbringing.
