Opis:
Artykuł dotyczy ponadczasowej dyskusji o rodzinie jako instytucji naturalnej. Przypomina różne eksperymentalne formy życia seksualnego człowieka, realizacje postaw osobistych i społecznych poza małżeństwem i tradycyjną, naturalną rodziną.
The article concerns the discussion that questions the timelessness of regarding the family as a natural institution and supports that stance by reminding us of experimental forms of man’s sexual, personal and social realization outside marriage and natural traditional family. A deeper analysis of those experiments, however, shows how ill functioning and transitory they are and how absurd it is to see marriage and family as merely culture creation that change with time and depend on fashion. The natural marriage and the family based on marriage reflect the reasonable character of human nature and serve the functionality of human communities. The author attributes some arguments concerning the necessity of natural family as the basis of psychological, personal and social development of human being. If we refuse the role of the family in that sphere we will remain without chance to humanize the future of human beings.

Opis:
In considering the titular opposition - music between nature and culture - we shall refer to such categories as time, with its levels and zones, and cultural communication. Conceptions of time. In an archaic situation dating from the Palaeolithic era, people lived, and cultures functioned, in sacred time, with no notion o f secular time. Another conception of time comes from the Bible, where we first encounter a ‘straightening’ of time, delineating its direction from the Creation to the Final Judgment (inopposition to ancient views on time, associating it with the wheel, with circular motion, dying and birth). Aristotle drew on Plato’s concept of time. He reduced it to the dimension of the human world, thereby initiating reflection on the ‘present’, which would endure in European thought through Saint Augustine to Edmund Husserl and our contemporary times. From this perspective, music is a process: playing, listening or participating in a musical event. Levels of time. These are as follows: atemporality (contains only simultaneity), prototemporality (contains temporal order, but also simultaneity), eotemporality (besides the features belonging to the aforementioned levels, also contains temporal intervals), biotemporality (as above, and also the present), and finally nootemporality (the human mind, awareness of time). The zones of time, meanwhile, comprise the zone of the psychological present (the motion of one’s own body, the perception of the sensory organs, natural language, musical language), the zone of performances of works (the shaping of form, including musical form), the zone of the temporal environment (three cycles: the diurnal, lunar and annual), and the zone of individual and communal life (the time from birth to death, and also memory, which reveals the sense of music from many perspectives). Cultural communication. In considering this phenomenon, we develop Roman Jakobson’s popular model of communication, expanded to encompass Karl Popper’s model of ‘three worlds’, through which we can propose a layered model of reality and, derived from that model, a concept of music as an efflorescence of nature in the culture of man. This is presented in detail in a series of figures (19-23 and especially 27).

The article is devoted to the topic of artistic dependence of Andrzej Kijowski on Witold Gombrowicz. Intertextual analysis of Kijowski’s work confirms what literary scholars have suggested, as well as what he himself has admitted. Especially in the early stages of his writing, he was strongly influenced by Gombrowicz’s works and person. The grotesque poetics of his novels, the way he constructed his protagonists, and parodic strategies were all inspired by Gombrowicz’s novel Ferdydurke. In his late-period output, such borrowings became less numerous, while there were also attempts at polemics. After experiencing religious conversion, Kijowski became closer to God and thus moved away from Gombrowicz.

Opis:
The article presents the conception of biological conditionings of language in Konrad Z. Lorenz’s approach. In Lorenz’s works the category of fulguration is the main philosophical category. It means the creation of ‘something new’ as result of the process of a sequence of phenomena that are causally related. Viewing the human race from the historical perspective Lorenz differentiates two important fulgurations, called superfulgurations. One of them is the transition from the “experiencing I” to the “conscious I”. Development of man’s mental sphere made it possible to form “verbal speech”. More broadly, in Lorenz’s approach, also culture has its subjectivization in nature. Cognition is an element of an organism’s behavior, and what is more, every mechanism of learning evolved phylogenetically. However, this does not result in strict determinism – various cultures are developed independently of one another. In the process of development of culture a special role is played by symbolization. Lorenz differentiates two types of symbols: symbols of a group (e.g. emblem) and language symbols. Language symbols were created in the regularity formed in the process of phylogeny, that is in conceptual thinking. In his philosophical explanation of the language structure Lorenz uses the data supplied by particular sciences. Moreover, language behaviors of particular people are conditioned by their personal experiences, and by the definite social and cultural milieu they live in.

Opis:
The linguistic studies written by Anna Wierzbicka have been an occasion for the remarks on the relationship between linguistics and philosophy and for the question whether linguistic enquiries entitle us to put forward philosophical theses. In particular, whether and to what extent we indeed learn something philosophically significant about the world (of culture) and the nature man and his mind by examining language. Defining here position as interdisciplinary, Wierzbicka draws on the studies of the relationship between language and culture, language and mind (language is a mirror of the mind – Leibniz). She claims that philosophy can be made a reliable science, provided it is based on linguistics, and the results of linguistic analyses can be found at the grounds of philosophical theses. Such philosophical references are A. Wierzbicka's attempts to combine semantics with generativism (Chomsky). Her intention to bring about a holistic description of language through defining elementary expressions (concepts, meanings), the so-called indefinibilia (“primitives”) can also be called philosophical in character. They suffice to define all the remaining expressions, and basic universal syntactic constructs in the form of a grammar of elementary units, i.e. the ways of combining elementary units into greater wholes. We think that Wierzbicka's procedure, her quest after primary elements (of language) are reducing. A. Wierzbicka's main idea, with regard to the relationship between language and mind, may be understood as follows: this is a Janus-faced relationship – one face (empirically accessible) is language, the other one is the mind accessible through investigations on language. Both “faces” (spheres) are somehow functionally “glued together”. In fact, however, Wierzbicka speaks little about the philosophically comprehended nature of man, whereas she speaks much about linguistic varieties and similarities among people. Generally speaking, while she declares herself to be a linguist, she has a philosophical temper and ambitions to generalise, i.e. she conducts linguistic studies with an intention to arrive at philosophical theses (by examining language she wants to obtain knowledge about the world and man). She issues statements which go beyond a purely linguistic knowledge and strictly linguistic data, hence they are not made legitimate by the linguistic material itself. A. Wierzbicka does not explain in more detail her way of understanding philosophy, assuming its intuitive comprehension. From some contexts it can be deduced that she takes it to mean a worldview. Should we call some parts of her reasoning a philosophy, it is then not a realistic philosophy but subject-oriented (first-person philosophising), such that touches upon the problems of the borderline between linguistics and philosophy, more concerned with the axis language-user than language-the world. Simultaneously, it is a non-demarcated and non-autonomic philosophising, exactly within the context of science, for it takes advantage of the results of empirical sciences to pose philosophical theses. The belief that philosophy can be pursued within a linguistic context coincides with the approach of analytical philosophy with its linguistic turn. Despite her declarations to make philosophy more scientific, Wierzbicka's arguments on behalf of the generalised (philosophical) theses are more their illustration and explication than a decisive legitimacy. Her belief that one can find some common, primitive linguistic units (simplicia) in the form of a complete set of independent concepts for all languages of the world seems utopian. It is difficult to do it even in deductive systems, constructed by way of the axiomatic method and with a finite set of initial expressions.

This paper outlines the main reading strategies of ecocriticism. Its main theoretical interest lies not in the pure extraction of literary motifs of Nature, but in the deconstruction of the diversity between Nature and Culture, representing Nature as the postmodern significant “Other” relating to contemporary environmental problems and thus exposing literary approaches in the past ( includingpostmodernism ) as anthropocentric. The main part of this paper focuses on the example of the application of ecocritical strategies in Đuro Sudeta’s modernist and impressionistic novella Mor, which leads to the suggestion of reforming conventional readings in traditional literary history.

Artykuł omawia koncepcję społeczeństwa szkockiego filozofa oświecenia Bernarda Mandeville’a.
This paper presents the social doctrine of the Scottish philosopher of Enlightenment, Bernard Mandeville. In the first part the philosophical milieu of Mandeville’s time is presented and the persons of science who influenced him the most. The second part summarizes his views on society. The basic source is his essay "A Search into the Nature of Society". This work was added as a prosaic explanation to his most recognizable poem "The Fable of the Bees". Mandeville claims that the basic driving force of progress is not human virtue but vice, because every virtue is driven by a hidden vice. In the conclusion it is explained why hisconcept is not compatible with the Christian anthropology

Autor eseju skupia się na poglądach niemieckiego filozofa nauki dotyczących statusu współczesnych nauk przyrodniczych i humanistycznych, zacierania się granic ich warsztatów badawczych, zwłaszcza zaś roli, jaką pojęcie kultury zaczyna odgrywać, jego zdaniem, we współczesnej biologii eksperymentalnej.
The author focuses on the leading themes of H-J. Rheinberger’s 2015 published book Natur und Kultur im Spiegel des Wissens (Nature and Culture in the Mirror of Knowledge). He mainly concentrates on the German science philosopher’s views regarding the status of contemporary natural sciences and the humanities, the fading of to-date boundaries between both fields, and especially the role the culture concept is beginning to play in today's experimental biology.

Opis:
The question of nature-culture and music is approached in the text from several perspectives as points of gravity and profiles, as the ‘tenors’ of considerations of the nature-culture relationship within the context of musical behaviours: 1) the biological tenor - culture as the simulation or imitation of nature (the dominant feature of the art of the Palaeolithic and the rituals of the Neolithic; derivatives in agrarian cultures); in this context, all musical behaviours, the kinetic, verbal, social and symbolic were centred around obtaining and celebrating crops - the results of purposeful activity, patient waiting and the benevolence of supernatural powers. The joy from a powerful hope in the survival of a community through abundant harvests seems to have been the source of the synergy (mutual stimulation) of all the components of socio-musical events, collective rituals and free individual expression. 2) the social tenor, where verbal-dance-musical behaviours (generally speaking - amusement) serve to ‘hew off and distinguish an individual within a group (‘nature’). Thus the nature-culture relationship is translated or reflected in the interplay between the collective and the individual. The dance itself is a play between the (‘natural’) group action and the (‘cultural’) individualised performance. The oscillation between the action of a group and the display of an individual also occur in whirling dances of couples interspersed with individual sung ditties. The social tenor, the transition from collective nature to a culture that is also individual, also concerns the practising of song repertoire, and it is an important factor in understanding cultural change. 3) the conscious-psychological tenor, in which music and musical behaviour are conscious manifestations of culture within historical processes, without necessary references to nature. The fundamental question in this aspect of discussion is the relative extent to which culture is given or created. There is no doubt that nature is given to man, whilst culture needs time. Reflection on the link between music and the social environment leads to the conclusion that nature tightens, while culture loosens, music’s bond with the situational-social context that is strictly ascribed to it. 4) the structural tenor of the musical work/behaviour, which highlights the microworld of nature-culture, particularly the oscillation of openness/change and closedness/ constancy of musical works or behaviours. The nature-culture model can be referred to the logic of development or stylistic change in musical output itself. Following that quartet of tenors, it is worth posing the question as to whether there exists a fifth, linking all the previous four, a ‘cosmic’, theological tenor in the symphony of nature-culture; in other words, whether there exists a ‘school’ of tenors.

The article presents the conception of personalism and the understanding of human person developed by two Polish philosophers: Karol Wojtyła and Mieczysław A. The author comes to the following conclusions: (1) Wojtyła’s and Krąpiec’s conception of personalism comes from experience and seeks verification in experience; it does not accept any a priori explanations or theses, though it does not shy away from drawing upon different branches of knowledge in its attempts to broaden experience, being aware that not everything is given to immediate experiential perception; (2) Wojtyła’s and Krąpiec’s personalism wants to draw on the whole philosophical tradition, taking into account, at the same time, the findings of different sciences of man or humanities which broaden the experience of man or contribute something to the interpretation of experience; (3) bringing together genetic empiricism and methodical rationalism, Wojtyła and Krąpiec are able to avoid radicalism in the explanation of man, making a successful attempt to join in a complementary way these aspects of personal human being which carry some opposition; (4) Wojtyła’s and Krąpiec’s conception of person does not bear any traces of antagonism since it is not directed against anyone; in the light of this conception every human person has a character of the honest good which is the unconditional good, that is the highest and the ultimate good not competing with the value of anything else; (5) Wojtyła and Krąpiec prove that the conception of human person lies at the basis of understanding society, culture, ethics, law, politics, economy, art, and even religion.

The aim of a study was to reconstruct manifestations of children’s e-culture generated in the course of children’s Internet communication at selected web sites (Facebook, MovieStarPlanet, Gry.pl). Data were accumulated in a netnographic manner. Processing (text, visual and audio-visual) data and their interpretation was performed by a qualitative content analysis, which revealed many peculiar manifestations of children’s culture. This includes an absence of temporal and spatial boundaries of children’s culture, the mediated nature of its members’ contacts, the involvement of children in the network, the existence of culture in external memory, the electronic character of culture creations and their ephemeral and peculiar nature. This indicates the new, digital nature of children’s culture, which seems to produce an increase in children’s community-related actions and strengthens their autonomy and their resistance potential towards the school and increases their participation in the digital culture, which serves to break down barriers between children.

We wstępnej części tekstu przedstawione zostaną podstawowe pojęcia z zakresu duszpasterstwa powołań. Część zasadnicza to analiza kultury powołaniowej. Chodzi o taką kulturę, która pomaga wychowankom zrozumieć i przyjąć otrzymany od Boga dar człowieczeństwa oraz dorastać do świętości, czyli do takiej miary dojrzałości w byciu człowiekiem, jaka jest pragnieniem Boga, a zarazem warunkiem odkrycia i realizacji powołania szczegółowego, czyli powołania do bycia małżonkiem i rodzicem, kapłanem albo osobą konsekrowaną. Ostatnia część niniejszego artykułu opisuje taki styl życia wychowanków w odniesieniu do ciała, płciowości, seksualności, sfery moralnej, duchowej, religijnej i społecznej, który umożliwia budowanie w sobie świętego człowieczeństwa, a przez to stawanie się osobą zdolną do wiernej realizacji swojego powołania szczegółowego.
The aim of this article is to present the culture of vocations, i.e. such a view of a person that enables a given person to discover and implement the unique vocation that God in His love proposes to that person. In the introductory part of the text, the basic concepts of the pastoral care of vocations will be presented. The main part is the analysis of vocational culture. It is about a culture that helps pupils to understand and accept the gift of humanity received from God and to grow up to holiness, that is, to such a measure of maturity in being a human being that is God's desire and which is a condition for discovering and implementing a specific vocation, that is, the vocation to be a spouse and parent, priest or consecrated person. The last part of this article describes such a lifestyle of the pupils in relation to the body, human sexuality, sexuality, moral, spiritual, religious and social spheres, which makes it possible to build a holy humanity in oneself, and thus become someone capable of faithfully fulfilling one's particular vocation.
