    The present study’s main focus is the analysis of three exhortations’ structure along with the topic featured therein, which appear in Piotr Kochanowski’s translation Gofred abo Jeruzalem wyzwolona published in 1618. Those speeches are delivered by Soliman and Emiren, who represent the Saracen side, and the eponymous Goffredo, who represents Christians. The author of the article indicates some arguments (understood as rhetorical devices) referring to the knightly community, which may either be praised (“our” side) or chastised (the opponents), or referencing the leader/warlord, who may deliver a self-praise or berate the enemies’ leader. In addition, a classification of speeches is offered; and so, the following types were distinguished: the call-to-arms type speech to defend a territory, values, and family; the speech calling for outstanding bravery and manly prowess in the face of expected defeat; calling for dedication when faced with an equal opponent; and finally, calling for devotion in the course of attaining a military aim.

    В статье рассматривается поэтика еще не исследованного стихотворения Антонина Ладинского Аргонавты (1926), представляющего собой авторскую интерпретацию античного мифа. Анализ данного поэтического текста показывает, что акцентированное в его структуре совмещение реалий античности и русской действительности превращает изображаемое «аргонавтическое» плавание в символическое восхождение к духовным вершинам универсума. Художественная символика, определяющая логику нарративного развертывания стихотворения, эксплицирует оппозицию «жизнь – смерть» в их ценностном единстве и продуцирует идеологему преображения бытия. Формулируется вывод, что «аргонавтический» миф в стихотворении сопряжен с онтологическими и историософскими исканиями поэта и утверждает необходимость не только достижения идеала («золотого руна»), но и осознания его ценностной сущности.
    The article deals with the poetics of Antonin Ladinsky’s under-researched poem “Argonavty” (“The Argonauts”, 1926), which represents the author’s interpretation of the ancient myth. The analysis of this poetic text shows that the emphatic combination of elements of ancient reality and Russian reality turns the depicted “Argonautic voyage” into a symbolic ascent to the spiritual heights of the universe. The artistic symbolism, which determines the logic of the narrative development in the poem, explicates the opposition between life and death in their axiological unity and produces the ideologeme of the transfiguration of being. The conclusion is that the “Argonautic” myth in the poem is associated with the poet’s enquiry in the sphere of ontology and philosophy of history; it postulates the need to achieve not only the ideal (the “golden fleece”), but also the awareness of its axiological essence.

    Intersemiotyczny model przekładu jawi się jako dialog między różnymi gatunkami i mediami, który charakteryzuje się wzajemnym efektem odbicia lustrzanego. Średniowieczna narracja zostaje przetłumaczona na narrację filmową dzięki galerii obrazów – znaków niewerbalnych. Ten rodzaj przekładu ujawnia semiotyczną złożoność podobną do tej właściwiej oryginałowi. Twórca filmu – fidus interpres – naśladuje sztukę średniowiecznego barda czy minstrela i pozostaje wierny duchowi mitu. Celem artykułu jest prześledzenie metamorfozy mitu od średniowiecznej poezji do filmowej narracji. Argumentacja autorek przebiega dwutorowo: 1) rozważania na temat heroicznego monomitu – jego fabuły, tematów, motywów umocowanych w horyzontalnym/narracyjnym następstwie ujęć; 2) ujawnienie interakcji między formuliczną strukturą planszy z napisami a tradycją poezji epickiej.
    The intersemiotic model of translation exhibits itself as a dialogue between various genres and media, which is marked by the reciprocal looking glass effect. A medieval narrative is translated into a cinematic narrative by a gallery of images – non-verbal signs. This kind of translation reveals similar semiotic complexity as that of the original. The film producer – the fidus interpres – imitates the art of the oral epic singer and remains faithful to the spirit of myth. The aim of this paper is to contemplate the metamorphosis of myth from the medieval poetic to the cinematic narrative. The argument of the authors proceeds in the following way: (1) to consider the heroic monomyth – its plot, theme, and motifs – as embedded in the horizontal/narrative successions of shots; (2) to reveal the interaction between the formulaic structure of the intertitles and oral epic poetry.

    After a brief initial excursus on the topos of illness in literary criticism and the so-called “Narrative Medicine”, I analyse this theme as found in the work of Małgorzata Lebda, and particularly in the collections Matecznik (2016) and Granica lasu (2013), in which the poet tells her personal story, displaying a changing enigmatic nature which is a place of the soul both real and mysterious at the same time. Lebda describes the encounter with the disease in a clear, direct language style and by means of a narrative that gives a therapeutic meaning to her experience, and places it in a natural universe filled with multiple correspondences and resonances. The constant metaphorisation of the poetic images becomes a way to convey evocative, deep emotions which, thus mediated, can express themselves with all their evocative power.

    Adam Mickiewicz's epic poem Pan Tadeusz, published in Paris in 1834, can be seen as an expression of a romantic culture of remembrance which emerged in Poland and Lithuania in the aftermath of a traumatic political event, the January Uprising of 1830–1831. This article discusses the poet's transformation of the devices and generic model of heroic epic for the double purpose of expressing a notion of historical time which holds out an open future for both the individual and the national community, and of promoting the acceptance of a complicated past through the resolution of its conflicts. Both in Poland and in Lithuania, Pan Tadeusz was regarded as a monumental tribute to the culture of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and a major influence on the modern national literatures in Lithuanian, Belarusian and Yiddish, sprouting on the territory of the former Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
