    Basing on the review of available literature devoted to applications of programming tools in research on mechanism of music perception, the first results of my own research devoted to mining of hidden regularities in pieces of various types of music is presented. General characteristics of the developed databases, methodology of executed research, and discussion of the discovered knowledge structures for selected types of music pieces are briefly dealt with.

    The article tries to answer the question why Clement of Alexandria (Paed. II 58, 1–2) and John Chrysostom (De Eleazaro et septem pueris, PG, vol. 63, coll. 523–4) propose peculiar interpretations of Sir 32:3. At first sight it might seem that the writers used texts of that verse in the Septuagint that were different from its present shape, but the real causes of the discrepancies were, in Clement’s case, his abhorrence of music, and in John Chrysostom’s case, the situation in which his speech was delivered.

    Artykuł jest pierwszym polskojęzycznym omówieniem i analizą treści XVIII-wiecznego podręcznika Roberta Broderipa dotyczącym zasad gry na pianoforte i klawesynie. Główny badawczy nacisk został położony na hermeneutyczną analizę jego zawartości w dwóch wzajemnie uzupełniających się aspektach: historyczno-muzykologicznym i wykonawczym (dydaktycznym). W artykule zwięźle omówiono również historię powstania pianoforte i na tym tle zarysowano wkład autora omawianego podręcznika w rozwój dydaktyki i metodyki gry na tym instrumencie. Zarysowane zostały ponadto perspektywy wykorzystania zaleceń Broderipa we współczesnej metodyce i nauczaniu gry na pianoforte.
    The article is the first Polish-language discussion and analysis of the contents of the eighteenth-century textbook by Robert Broderip regarding the rules of playing the piano and harpsichord. The main research emphasis has been placed on hermeneutic analysis of its content in two mutually complementary aspects: historical-musicological and executive (didactic). The article also briefly discusses the history of the creation of the pianoforte and outlined the contribution of the author of the discussed textbook to the development of didactics and methodology of playing the instrument. In addition, perspectives on the use of Broderip’s recommendations in contemporary methodology and the teaching of the pianoforte are outlined.
