Opis:
This paper investigates the production of a micronized muscovite to a target product size of d50~15 μm with a minimum energy consumption to suit the product requirements of the paint industry by a dry grinding process in a laboratory-scale vertical stirred ball mill. A series of batch dry grinding tests were conducted without and with two commonly used industrial liquid grinding aids, ethylene glycol (EG, C2H6O2) and triethanolamine (TEA, C6H15NO3). The results were evaluated based on particle size distribution (PSD), specific energy consumption, span value, and aspect ratio. The results showed that using liquid grinding aids resulted in a finer PSD, lower specific energy consumption, a narrower size distribution, lower span values, and a higher aspect ratio, which meant better delamination and improved grinding efficiency to that of no grinding aid. The interaction between grinding aids and ground muscovite surfaces was investigated by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). FTIR measurements revealed that EG and TEA were physically adsorbed on muscovite surfaces. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) was also employed to determine differences between ground muscovite surfaces with and without grinding aids. SEM images indicated that grinding aids could prevent the agglomeration of ground muscovite particles while improving delamination. Adding grinding aids led to a decrease in muscovite agglomeration and an improvement in lamination owing to the adsorption of grinding aids on the particle surfaces.

The depression effect of corn starch on the surface of muscovite mica powder at different pulp pH value was investigated. The experiments were performed on single mineral, and its flotation performance was studied by flotation tests, adsorption quantity measurement, zeta-potential technique and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR). The results indicated that the depression effect was varied with the pulp pH value when dodecylamine chloride (DDA) was used as collector, the strongest inhibitory effect appeared at pH 2 and the zeta-potential of muscovite mica increased overall after conditioned with corn starch solution. It was confirmed by the FT-IR spectra that the corn starch indeed adsorbed on the surface of muscovite mica powder and physical adsorption was occurred between muscovite mica and corn starch. This study leads to a better understanding of the depression effect of corn starch on the surface of muscovite mica powder.

The province of Kefe (Caffa) was one of the Ottoman frontier provinces and played an important role in the Ottoman relations with Moscow and Bakhchisaray. One duty of the governor of Kefe was to control the Crimean khan and inform the Ottoman central authorities about the situation in the Crimea. Azak (Azov) belonged to the province of Kefe and, as an important frontier fortress, enjoyed special rights and privileges. Kefe and Azak were transit points for Muscovite envoys and merchants on their way to Istanbul, and their governors typically acted as the ‘ears and eyes’ of the sultan in regard to Muscovy and the Don Cossacks. Based on primary sources, this article examines the correspondence of the governors of Kefe and Azak with Moscow and discusses their impact on the OttomanMuscovite relations. Special attention is devoted to the titulature used by the Ottoman provincial governors in their letters addressed to the tsar.

In this study, three kinds of anionic collectors (sodium oleate (NaOl), sodium dodecyl sulfonate (SDS) and naphthenic acid (NA)) were used in combination with dodecylamine (DDA) to investigate the flotation behavior of muscovite under the action of different mixed anionic/cationic collectors, and their mechanisms for adsorption on the muscovite (001) Surface were clarified using molecular dynamics simulations. The flotation results indicated that different mixed anionic/cationic collectors could improve the recovery of muscovite to varying degrees, but the optimum molar ratio of anionic collectors to DDA and the optimum mixed collector dosage were different. Molecular dynamics simulations showed that the mixed anionic/cationic collectors could significantly increase the hydrophobicity of the muscovite, as evidenced by the decrease in the calculated water molecule density on the muscovite surface and the diffusion coefficient of water molecules at the solid/liquid interface. The interaction between the amino group and the polar group of anionic collectors reduced the electrostatic repulsion between DDA cations and theoretically increased the adsorption capacity of the mixed anionic/cationic collectors on the muscovite surface. Moreover, DDA/NA and DDA/NaOl could improve the calculated carbon atom density on the muscovite surface, which enhanced the hydrophobic association between nonpolar carbon chains, thus further achieving an enhanced flotation performance.

Opis:
Effects of sulphuric acid and ammonia chloride on muscovite dissolution were studied in acid leaching of vein quartz under elevated temperature and pressure. The leaching processes have been studied in detail by analyzing sources of impurity minerals, optimizing leaching process, analyzing leaching kinetics of Al in muscovite and charactering leaching mechanism of muscovite. The results showed that elements of Al and K mainly occurred in muscovite, and 98.10% or more of muscovite could be removed by acid leaching, while the process had limited influence on the particle size of quartz sand. Leaching of Al in the quartz ore was mainly controlled by chemical reaction. A calcination process and ammonia chloride were used for reducing chemical reaction resistance by damaging crystal structure of muscovite and providing stable acid leaching environment. Combined with the calcination process, muscovite, as a main gangue mineral, was effectively extracted during acid leaching of vein quartz at elevated temperature and pressure.

Opis:
The article discusses the military triumph of the Crown Field Hetman Stanisław Żółkiewski, which took place in November 1611 in Warsaw during the General Sejm, as against a similar ceremony in 1583. Both of those events crowned the war struggle with the Muscovite state and were closely associated with the Polish-Lithuanian triumphs over the eastern neighbour. In both cases, those spectacles constituted the crowning achievement of long-standing fights. Triumphs were organized in Cracow and Warsaw, and its spectators were the country’s political elites gathered at the wedding of Jan Zamoyski with Gryzelda Batory (1583) and participants of the Sejm. One can also indicate a wider audience, which was the noble society, because the propaganda activities undertaken by Stefan Batory and Sigismund III Vasa were to bring not only desired short-term results, e.g. introducing taxes for the continuation of the war with Muscovy, but also long-term effects by shaping political attitudes desired in a given moment. In both cases, the originators of the triumphal marches could obtain information from one of the chapters of Hetman’s Books of Stanisław Sarnicki. The author collected there the most important comments related to the organization of such marches. Żółkiewski’s triumph was closely related to the capture of the Smolensk fortress and the defeat of the Muscovite army near Kłuszyn in 1610. Those events gave rise to the organization of another triumph, but this time not of the king himself, but of the hetman. It was to be used primarily as an argument for the nobility sitting in parliament to pass the taxes necessary for further warfare. The analysis and comparison of both celebrations show that much greater effort was put into organizing the Cracow events of 1583. Their artistic and ideological setting was given great attention to detail. Twenty-eight years later, participants and observers of the Warsaw triumph did not experience similar impressions. Neither the king nor his entourage took care of preparing the scenario of the ceremony, music or elements of occasional architecture, etc. Many people took part in the Cracow events: dancers, musicians, actors, soldiers and exotic animals. In 1611, the triumph in Warsaw was extremely simple. Not much attention was paid to the preparations. The course of events shows the animosities between Sigismund III and Stanisław Żółkiewski along with the lack of a unified position towards the Muscovite state. The article was supplemented with a critical source edition of one of the descriptions of the events of 1611. The text is stored in a collection of manuscript documents – the so called “miscellanea” in the Czartoryski Library in Cracow. The author of this account is unknown, although he probably witnessed the Warsaw triumph, which is indicated, for example, by detailed descriptions of the appearance of Muscovite prisoners of war.

Opis:
New petrographic and geochemical data show some differences between Variscan Bt-Ms granites occurring either as small plutons or dykes in the Strzelin Massif (SW Poland). The granites of the Gromnik and Górka Sobocka plutons are rich in micas and crystallized from "wet" magmas; the granites in the dykes and in the Gębczyce pluton are mica-poorer and cordierite-bearing rocks, derived from “dryer” magmas. The lower initial eNd values in the Bt-Ms granites of the dykes, compared with those in the plutons, reflect a more "crustal" signature of the former, possibly due to local crustal assimilation, via AFC, shortly before emplacement. Much more radiogenic initial 87Sr/86Sr ratios in the dykes, up to 0.726, further suggest the involvement of extraneous, hydrous crustal fluids enriched in 87Sr during the evolution of late-stage magma derivatives. The new U-Pb SHRIMP zircon age of 296 ± 6 Ma for the Gębczyce Bt-Ms granite shows that this body belongs to the third stage of magmatism in the Strzelin Massif. The U-Pb SHRIMP zircon data for the Bt-Ms granite dykes provide ages similar to those of their host rocks: c. 295 Ma for the Gęsiniec tonalite and the enclosed Bt-Ms granite, and c. 285 Ma for the Strzelin biotite granite and its Bt-Ms granite dykes. These new data from peraluminous rock-types complement our previous studies focused on the tonalites, granodiorites and biotite granites, and shed light on the late-stage igneous evolution of the Strzelin Massif.

Opis:
The lifetime of the Kingdom of Poland – a state connected with the Russian Empire by a union – has not been unequivocally assessed in Polish historiography. On the one hand, the Kingdom had its own army, administration and a very liberal constitution, and had quickly achieved economic prosperity. On the other hand, within a few years of its creation, there occurred the fi rst violations of the Constitution and the persecutions of those who opposed these infringements. A significant event was the revolt of the Cadets of 29 November 1830, which turned into a uprising, today referred to as the November Uprising. This article is the analysis of the legal aspects of the Polish-Russian union created in 1815. It is then compared with the Union of Lublin and the drafts of planned unions between the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Tsardom of Russia in the 16th and 17th centuries. The circumstances which led to the creation of the Kingdom of Poland and its union with the Russian Empire, as well as the earlier attempts to create one state of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Russian Empire, as well as the principles of a union of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania are presented. The principles upon which these unions were to be based are subsequently compared and analysed. A particular emphasis has been placed on the issues related to the international legal status of the Kingdom of Poland. In this context questions such as: the treaty-making power and jus legationis have also been asked. Another important issue discussed in the paper is also the role of the king in matters concerning foreign policy and a possible role of Russia in these matters. The results of this analysis allow to formulate a more objective assessment of the period of the Kingdom of Poland, focusing on its legal status and position, and in particular on the relation with the Russian Empire.

In this study, the flotation and aggregation characteristics of muscovite mineral particles were determined as a function of dodecyl amine hydrochloride (DAH) concentration and correlated with the theoretically calculated “particle-particle” and “particle-bubble” interactions using extended DLVO theory. In this series of tests, the flotation and aggregation characteristics of the muscovite mineral were determined with micro-flotation and turbidity measurements, respectively. In addition to these analyses, surface tension measurements were carried out as a function of pH. Also, the zeta potential and contact angle measurements were also performed as a function of DAH concentration prior to the flotation and aggregation tests. The experimental studies showed that while almost minimum and maximum points of flotation and turbidity values were obtained up to a critical concentration of DAH as 6.10-6 mol/dm3, a significant increment was obtained following that concentration. Accordingly, while repulsive forces dominated the interactions up to that concentration, the attractive forces became more effective at further concentrations such as 2.10-5, 4.10-5, 8.10-5, and 1.10-4 mol/dm3 DAH concentrations for both “particle-particle” and ”particle-bubble” interactions. This in turn suggested that the determination of energy barrier heights between ”particle-particle” and ”particle bubble” may provide important insights into both flotation and aggregation characteristics of particles.

Opis:
This study shows the results of flotation concentration of mica minerals from kaolinised granite taken from the "Bašića bare" deposit – Kobaš, Srbac, The Republic of Srpska (B&H). Mineralogical composition of kaolinised granite is as follows: kaolinite, feldspar, quartz, and mica. After separating >0.630 mm, and <0.043 mm size class where kaolinite is concentrated, the rest is –0.630+0.043 mm class containing quartz, feldspar and mica. The mica concentrate was obtained by the flotation concentration, while feldspar and quartz were in the flotation underflow. According to the mineralogical analysis, the most abundant minerals are mica and chlorite/clays, while quartz and feldspar occur much less, and accessory minerals are represented in trace. The semi-quantitative mineralogical analysis obtained by the X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) method of the mica concentrate amount to: mica ≈55%, chlorite/clays ≈35%, quartz ≈5%, feldspars (plagioclase and K-feldspars combined) ≈5%.
W pracy omówiono wyniki badania koncentratu poflotacyjnego zawierającego minerały z grupy miki ze skaolinizowanego granitu pozyskiwanego ze złoża Basica bare w Kobas, w Republice Serbskiej (B&H). Skaolinizowany granit zawiera następujące minerały: kaolinit, skaleń, kwarc i mika.
