    W dotychczasowej literaturze niewiele jest wiadomości dotyczących mineralogicznych badań zębów pochodzących ze starych cmentarzysk takich jak np. groby mumii egipskich. Prezentowana publikacja uzupełnia w zakresie badań mineralogicznych wiedzę dotycząca przyżyciowych i pośmiertnych zmian w zębach ludzi Starego i Nowego Państwa Egipskiego. Ukazuje ona zjawiska zachodzące w historycznych zębach, które są zbliżone do zjawisk współczesnych. Wykonano ją na kilkunastu zębach, prezentując w publikacji jedynie wybrane, szczególnie ciekawe zjawiska.
    In the literature so far, there has been little information on mineralogical studies of teeth from old cemeteries, such as the tombs of Egyptian mummies. This publication adds to the knowledge in the field of mineralogical studies regarding vital and posthumous changes in the teeth of the people of Old and New Kingdom of Egypt. It shows the phenomena occurring in historical teeth, which are similar to those occuring in modern times. The research was conducted on approximately a dozen teeth, and the publication presents only selected, particularly interesting phenomena.

    The paper presents the exploration of the eastern bank of the Dry Moat by a team from the University of Warsaw, extending further south from the section unearthed in 2001. The team also uncovered a previously unknown Old Kingdom funerary complex in the area south of the tomb of Merefnebef. Burials of the Upper Necropolis were found in both sectors. Field conservation, an important part of the program, is discussed in the appendix.

    Opis:
    Fieldwork of the Polish–Egyptian Mission to Saqqara in the 2020 season continued on the eastern bank of the Dry Moat, resulting in the discovery of a rock-cut structure directly south of Corridor 1. Fieldwork also included exploration of a rock-cut chapel adjacent to the tomb of Merefnebef, part of the Sixth Dynasty funerary complex located south of the tomb. Both areas yielded new burials belonging to the so-called Upper Necropolis, which overlies the remains of late Old Kingdom funerary structures. Conservation work constituted an important part of the 2020 fieldwork program.

    The University of Warsaw has a collection of ancient Egyptian objects, including four human mummies (200334 MNW, 236805/3 MNW, 236806 MNW, along with the mummy remains under two numbers KMS St. 0089 and KMS St. 0096 from the coffin 236804 MNW). They were donated by various persons in the nineteenth century. This paper establishes their dating, history, provenances, and research history in the context of the university’s antiquities collection, interests in ancient Egypt, and the development of Egyptology in Poland, especially in Warsaw. Previous studies on the subject were problematic owing to the limited and dispersed nature of sources and the fact that some of them were ambiguous and sometimes contradictory. Since then, more information has become available, especially computed tomography and X-ray scans of the mummies made by the Warsaw Mummy Project in cooperation with the National Museum in Warsaw. This has allowed further elaboration on the history of the collection and to re-establish identities of some of the deceased.
