This paper is devoted to the concept of stability in linear matrix inequalities. Especially to the analysis of a bounded stability region for a multivariable 3DOF system. The study is focused on two different, user defined, bounded LMI regions where poles are calculated with the use on an algorithm and placed in the left half plane of complex variable plane s. It is shown that in the studied case the shape of the region is irrelevant compared to the location of region bounds. And more specifically only the active bounds where the poles are located on it’s limits are significant to controller operation.

Opis:
Disturbance rejection performance optimization with constraints on robustness for a multivariable process is commonly encountered in industrial control applications. This paper presents the tuning of a multi-loop Proportional Integral (PI) controller method to enhance the performance of load disturbance rejection using evolutionary optimization. The proposed design methodology is formulated to minimize the load disturbance rejection response and the input control energy under the constraints of robust stability. The minimum singular value of multiplicative uncertainty is considered a multi-loop system robust stability indicator. Optimization is performed to achieve the same, or higher level than the most-explored Direct Synthesis (DS) based multi-loop PI controller, which is derived from a conventional criterion. Simulation analysis clearly proved that the proposed multi-loop PI controller tuning method gives better disturbance rejection, and either, the same or a higher level of robust stability when compared to the DS-based multi-loop PI controller.

This paper explains the basics of the Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMI), with examples of simulations and calculations created in Matlab/Simulink programming environment where the controlled plant is the “Blue Lady” ship model. First chapter of this paper gives a short overview of publications describing the use of Linear Matrix Inequalities method. Second chapter contains basic definitions and equations for the LMI method. Chapter three presents the use of LMI method for ship control by describing controller synthesis for the “Blue Lady”. Chapter four compares the operation of two controllers, the first one consisting of three independent proper adjusted PID controllers and the second one being a multivariable LMI controller. Finally conclusions from the above comparison are drawn.

The paper presents the training problem of a set of neural nets to obtain a (gain-scheduling, adaptive) multivariable neural controller for control of a nonlinear MIMO dynamic process represented by a mathematical model of Low-Frequency (LF) motions of a drillship over the drilling point at the sea bottom. The designed neural controller contains a set of neural nets that determine values of its parameters chosen on the basis of two measured auxiliary signals. These are the ship’s current forward speed measured with respect to water and the systematically calculated difference between the course angle and the sea current (yaw angle). Four different methods for synthesis of multivariable modal controllers are used to obtain source data for training the neural controller with parameters reproduced by neural networks. Neural networks are designed on the basis of 3650 modal controllers obtained with the use of the pole placement technique after having linearized the model of LF motions made by the vessel at its nominal operating points in steady states that are dependent on the specified yaw angle and the sea current velocity. The final part of the paper includes simulation results of system operation with a neural controller along with conclusions and final remarks.

Opis:
Predictive control of MIMO processes is a challenging problem which requires the specification of a large number of tuning parameters (the prediction horizon, the control horizon and the cost weighting factor). In this context, the present paper compares two strategies to design a supervisor of the Multivariable Generalized Predictive Controller (MGPC), based on multiobjective optimization. Thus, the purpose of this work is the automatic adjustment of the MGPC synthesis by simultaneously minimizing a set of closed loop performances (the overshoot and the settling time for each output of the MIMO system). First, we adopt the Weighted Sum Method (WSM), which is an aggregative method combined with a Genetic Algorithm (GA) used to minimize a single criterion generated by the WSM. Second, we use the Non- Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGA-II) as a Pareto method and we compare the results of both the methods. The performance of the two strategies in the adjustment of multivariable predictive control is illustrated by a simulation example. The simulation results confirm that a multiobjective, Pareto-based GA search yields a better performance than a single objective GA.

This paper presents the application of a Multivariable Generalized Predictive Controller (MGPC) for simultaneous temperature and humidity control in a Heating, Ventilating and Air- Conditioning (HVAC) system. The multivariable controlled process dynamics is modeled using a set of MISO models on-line identified from measured input-output process data. The controller synthesis is based on direct optimization of selected quadratic cost function with respect to amplitude and rate input constraints. Efficacy of the proposed adaptive MGPC algorithm is experimentally demonstrated on a laboratory-scale model of HVAC system. To control the airconditioning part of system the designed multivariable predictive controller is considered in a cascade dual-rate control scheme with PID auxiliary controllers.

Opis:
Synchronization in the energy generated by renewable energy sources is one of the significant issue associated with the converter used in the system module. The presented paper concentrates on the design aspect of a PV and wind power input to a DC-DC converter which can be practically useful in hybrid renewable energy power systems. In this regard, the proposed converter can be utilized to obtain a smooth regulated output voltage from the given input renewable energy power sources. The proposed converter can be efficiently work under critical conditions having very few ripple in current waveform of input or output. A major advantage with this type of converter is the simple circuit with respect to the conventional converters in some critical situations. At the end, the result based on the simulation exercise and various experiments, performance of the converter in different situations is presented so that the efficiency of the designed converter arrangement is accepted.

The main goal of this task was a calculation of the two multivariable regulators for precise steering of a real, floating, training ship. The first one minimized the H2 norm of the closed-loop system. The second one was related to the Hinf norm. The robust control approach was applied in this controller with the usage of the structured singular value concept. Both controllers are described in the first part of the paper. Details of the training vessel and its simulation model then are presented. The state model of the control object obtained via identification process is described in the next section. This model with matrices weighting functions was the base for creation of ’the augmented state model’ for the open-loop system. The calculation results of the multivariable controllers is also shown in this section. Several simulations were performed in order to verify the control quality of both regulators. Exemplary results are presented at the end of this paper together with final remarks.

In the paper an adaptive linear control system structure with modal controllers for a MIMO nonlinear dynamic process is presented and various methods for synthesis of those controllers are analyzed. The problems under study are exemplified by the synthesis of a position and yaw angle control system for a drillship described by a 3DOF nonlinear mathematical model of low-frequency motions made by the drillship over the drilling point. In the proposed control system, use is made of a set of (stable) linear modal controllers that create a linear adaptive controller with variable parameters tuned appropriately to operation conditions chosen on the basis of two measured auxiliary signals. These are the ship’s current forward speed measured in reference to the water and the systematically calculated difference between the course angle and the sea current (yaw angle). The system synthesis is carried out by means of four different methods for system pole placement after having linearized the model of low-frequency motions made by the vessel at its nominal “operating points” in steady states that are dependent on the specified yaw angle and the sea current velocity. The final part of the paper includes simulation results of system operation with an adaptive controller of (stepwise) varying parameters along with conclusions and final remarks.

Based on new definitions of "control zeros" and minimum phase property for possibly nonsquare LTI MIMO discrete-time systems, generalizations of perfect regulation and perfect filtering are presented both for polynomial matrix and state space models. Consequently, general equivalence results are announced for multi-step and single-step optimal controls as well as for maximum-accuracy and maximum-speed controls for LTI MIMO discrete-time systems. The latter is made visible after the introduction of a new-category of time-optimal control, namely infimum-time control. The equivalence conditions refer to the system's right-invertibility and the (newly-defined) minimum phase behavior, which demonstrates the usefulness of the new approach to zeros of multi variable systems.

A geometric interpretation of invariant zeros of MIMO LTI discrete-time systems is provided. The zeros are treated as the triples: complex number, state zero direction, input zero direction. Such a treatment is strictly connected with the output zeroing problem and in that spirit the zeros can be easily interpreted even in the degenerate case (i.e. when each complex number constitutes an invariant zero). Simply, in the degenerate case, to each complex number we can assign an appropriate real initial condition and an appropriate real input sequence which produce a non-trivial solution to the state equation and a zero system response. Clearly, when zeros are treated merely as complex numbers, such an interpretation is impossible. The proposed definition of invariant zeros is compared with other commonly known definitions. It is shown that each Smith zero of the system matrix is also an invariant zero in the sense of the definition adopted in the paper. On the other hand, simple numerical examples show that the considered definition of invariant zeros and the Davison-Wang definition are not comparable. The output-zeroing problem for systems decouplable by state feedback is also described.

Opis:
This paper deals with models of air pollution inside a tunnel tube. Various gases are emitted by combustion engines. They consist largely of oxides of nitrogen, carbon monoxide, steam and particles (opacity). Since each tunnel is unique, the design of the model must be realized for the particular road tunnel. Data measured in the control center of the tunnel is used to create various models and to realize them in the program environment MATLAB. It is possible to describe this system by description of the equations of physical dependences. These physical dependencies are between the speeds, piston effect, traffic density, quantity produced pollution, etc. Next we plan to show how fuzzy sets can be used to represent a real system. Finally, we are going to describe this system by the parametric model. For the purpose of parametric identification it is interesting to describe the sought process using input-output relations. The general procedure for estimation of the process model consists of several steps: determination of the model structure, estimation of parameters and verification of the model.

W artykule przedstawiono koncepcję autorskiego układu kontrolno-pomiarowego do zbierania danych procesowych działającej oczyszczalni ścieków opartej na technologii SBR (ang. Sequencing Batch Reactor). Zwrócono uwagę na liczne aspekty istotnie wpływające na budowę i praktyczną implementację systemu. Przedstawiono jego szeroką funkcjonalność, głównie w kontekście wydajnego sterowania wspomnianą oczyszczalnią. W tym celu zaproponowano wielowymiarowy układ regulacji zdaniem autorów zapewniający założone wcześniej parametry technologiczne uzdatnianej wody.
A concept of the supervisory control and data acquisition system for SBR sewage treatment plant is presented in this paper. The essential aspects related to its construction and real implementation are emphasized. A wide functionality in particular in terms of robust control of sewage treatment plant is shown. In this case the multivariable control system guarantees the assumed technological references of treated water.
