Opis:
The paper deals with the multiobjective and multiscale optimization of heterogeneous structures by means of computational intelligence methods. The aim of the paper is to find optimal properties of composite structures in a macro scale modifying their microstructure. At least two contradictory optimization criteria are considered simultaneously. A numerical homogenization concept with a representative volume element is applied to obtain equivalent macro-scale elastic constants. An in-house multiobjective evolutionary algorithm MOOPTIM is applied to solve the considered optimization tasks. The finite element method is used to solve the boundary-value problem in both scales. A numerical example is attached.

A two-level hierarchical multicriteria routing model for multiprotocol label switching networks with two service classes (QoS, i.e., with quality of service requirements, and best effort services) and alternative routing is reviewed in this paper. A heuristic resolution approach, where nondominated solutions are obtained throughout the heuristic run and kept in an archive for further analysis is also reviewed. In this paper, an extensive analysis of the application of this procedure to two reference test networks for various traffic matrices is presented. Also a comparison of the results of our method with a lexicographic optimization approach based on a multicommodity flow formulation using virtual networks is carried out. Finally, results of a stochastic discrete event simulation model developed for these networks will be shown to illustrate the effectiveness of the resolution approach and to assess the inaccuracies of the analytic results.

This paper presents the Necessary-preference-enhanced Evolutionary Multiobjective Optimizer (NEMO), which combines an evolutionary multiobjective optimization with robust ordinal regression within an interactive procedure. In the course of NEMO, the decision maker is asked to express preferences by simply comparing some pairs of solutions in the current population. The whole set of additive value functions compatible with this preference information is used within a properly modified version of the evolutionary multiobjective optimization technique NSGA-II in order to focus the search towards solutions satisfying the preferences of the decision maker. This allows to speed up convergence to the most preferred region of the Pareto-front.

The paper is devoted to the multiobjective shape optimization of cracked structures. The two main goals are: reduction of the negative crack influence of identified cracks and optimal design of structural elements to reduce the risk of crack occurrence and growth. NURBS (Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines) curves are used to model the structure boundaries. Global optimization methods in the form of evolutionary algorithms are employed. As different optimization criteria are considered simultaneously, the efficient multiobjective optimization method are applied. An in-house multiobjective evolutionary algorithm is proposed as an efficient optimization tool. The dual boundary element method is used to solve the boundaryvalue problem.

Opis:
Among Evolutionary Multiobjective Optimization Algorithms (EMOA) there are many which find only Paretooptimal solutions. These may not be enough in case of multimodal problems and non-connected Pareto fronts, where more information about the shape of the landscape is required. We propose a Multiobjective Clustered Evolutionary Strategy (MCES) which combines a hierarchic genetic algorithm consisting of multiple populations with EMOA rank selection. In the next stage, the genetic sample is clustered to recognize regions with high density of individuals. These regions are occupied by solutions from the neighborhood of the Pareto set. We discuss genetic algorithms with heuristic and the concept of well-tuning which allows for theoretical verification of the presented strategy. Numerical results begin with one example of clustering in a single-objective benchmark problem. Afterwards, we give an illustration of the EMOA rank selection in a simple two-criteria minimization problem and provide results of the simulation of MCES for multimodal, multi-connected example. The strategy copes with multimodal problems without losing local solutions and gives better insight into the shape of the evolutionary landscape. What is more, the stability of solutions in MCES may be analyzed analytically.

Decision-making is a tedious and complex process. In the present competitive scenario, any incorrect decision may excessively harm an organization. Therefore, the parameters involved in the decision-making process should be looked into carefully as they may not always be of a deterministic nature. In the present study, a multiobjective nonlinear transportation problem is formulated, wherein the parameters involved in the objective functions are assumed to be fuzzy and both supply and demand are stochastic. Supply and demand are assumed to follow the exponential distribution. After converting the problem into an equivalent deterministic form, the multiobjective problem is solved using a neutrosophic compromise programming approach. A comparative study indicates that the proposed approach provides the best compromise solution, which is significantly better than the one obtained using the fuzzy programming approach.

Opis:
The paper presents a methodology for the optimization of a Brushless Direct Current motor (BLDC). In particular it is focused on multiobjective optimization using a genetic algorithm (GA) developed in Matlab/Optimization Toolbox coupled with Maxwell from ANSYS. Optimization process was divided into two steps. The aim of the first one was to maximize the RMS torque value and to minimize the mass. The second part of the optimization process was to minimize the cogging torque by selecting proper magnet angle. The paper presents the methodology and capabilities of scripting methods rather than specific optimization results for the applied geometry.

The paper begins by reviewing a two-level hierarchical multicriteria routing model for MPLS networks with two service classes (QoS and BE services) and alternative routing, as well as the foundations of a heuristic resolution approach, previously proposed by the authors. Afterwards a new approach, of meta-heuristic nature, based on the introduction of simulated annealing and tabu search techniques, in the structure of the dedicated heuristic, is described. The application of the developed procedures to a benchmarking case study will show that, in certain initial conditions, this approach provides improvements in the final results especially in more "difficult" situations detected through sensitivity analysis.

Opis:
This paper primarily concerns the study of general classes of constrained multiobjective optimization problems (including those described via set-valued and vector-valued cost mappings) from the viewpoint of modern variational analysis and generalized differentiation. To proceed, we first establish two variational principles for set-valued mappings, which-being certainly of independent interest-are mainly motivated by applications to multiobjective optimization problems considered in this paper. The first variational principle is a set-valued counterpart of the seminal derivative-free Ekeland variational principle, while the second one is a set-valued extension of the subdifferential principle by Mordukhovich and Wang, formulated via an appropriate subdifferential notion for set-valued mappings with values in partially ordered spaces. Based on these variational principles and corresponding tools of generalized differentiation, we derive new conditions of the coercivity and Palais-Smale types ensuring the existence of optimal solutions to set-valued optimization problems with noncompact feasible sets in infinite dimensions and then obtain necessary optimality and suboptimality conditions for nonsmooth multiobjective optimization problems with general constraints, which are new in both finite-dimensional and infinite-dimensional settings.

This paper examines the use of hashing in the multiobjective tabu search, TAMOCO. The hasliing method was suggested by Woodruff and Zemel (1993) as a method of avoiding return to the already examined solutions in the standard single-objective tabu search. While the traditional tabu list is capable of insuring this, it can normally only be used for cycles of a moderate length. The hashing method, however, can efficiently avoid cycles over a much larger number of iterations and must be considered a natural component in the tabu search tool-box. We report from two experiments on practical models where the hashing component has been included into the TAMOCO-procedure ; with two different outcomes.

In present paper an improved multi-objective evolutionary algorithm is used for Pareto optimization of selected coupled problems. Coupling of mechanical, electrical and thermal fields is considered. Boundary-value problems of the thermo-elasticity, piezoelectricity and electro-thermo-elasticity are solved by means of finite element method (FEM). Ansys Multiphysics and MSC.Mentat/Marc software are used to solve considered coupled problems. Suitable interfaces between optimization tool and the FEM software are created. Different types of functionals are formulated on the basis of results obtained from the coupled field analysis. Functionals depending on the area or volume of the structure are also proposed. Parametric curves NURBS are used to model some optimized structures. Numerical examples for exemplary three-objective optimization are presented in the paper.

In this paper, efficient optimization techniques are used to solve multi-objective optimization problems arising from Simulated Moving Bed (8MB) processes. SMBs are widely used in many industrial separations of chemical products and they are very challenging from the optimization point of view. With the help of interactive multi-objective optimization, several conflicting objectives can be considered simultaneously without making unnecessary simplifications, as it has been done in previous studies. The optimization techniques used are the interactive NIMBUS™ method and the IPOPT optimizer. To demonstrate the usefulness of these techniques, the results of solving an 8MB optimization problem with four objectives are reported.
