    Opis:
    Research background: Research on the performance outcomes of different forms of internationalisation has attracted significant attention due to its theoretical and practical relevance. Still, the related findings have remained conflicting. Scholars have argued that companies need to possess or acquire firm-specific advantages (FSAs) to succeed internationalisation. However, a significant part of International Business (IB) research has treated FSAs as enablers of internationalisation, while some have argued that internationalisation in itself only helps firms translate the possessed resources into performance. Purpose of the article: The objective of this study, which is based on the resource-based view (RBV), is to explore the moderating effect of internationalisation on the relationship between FSAs and performance, considering internationalisation degree and firm size as boundary conditions for that relationship. Methods: We carry out statistical analyses on a longitudinal dataset containing 304 novice internationalisers from the post-transition economy of Poland and a total of 1167 firm-year observations. Thereby, we compare SMEs with large firms. Findings & value added: We find that while FSAs do positively affect firm performance, this relationship becomes weaker for higher levels of internationalisation. However, the negative moderating effect of the internationalisation degree becomes weaker for larger novice internationalisers, which are more able to handle the complexity of managing foreign operations.

    W artykule przeanalizowano szanse i zagrożenia wynikające z imigracji w oparciu o doświadczenia z północno-wschodniej części Pensylwanii. Dokonano w nim również analizy potrzeb imigrantów oraz metod ich integracji z lokalnym społeczeństwem. Z przedstawionych w publikacji analiz wynika, że imigracja jest naturalnym zjawiskiem sprzyjającym dalszemu wzrostowi gospodarki w danym kraju. Problemy w wielu przypadkach wynikają z braku zrozumienia jego znaczenia, co prowadzi do niechęci i obawy przed nieznanym.
    The article analyzes the opportunities and threats resulting from immigration based on experience from the north-eastern part of Pennsylvania. It also analyzes the needs of immigrants and methods of their integration with the local society. Analyzes presented in the publication show that immigration is a natural phenomenon important for the further growth of the economy in a given country. Problems in many cases result from a lack of understanding of its meaning, which leads to aversion and fear of the unknown.

    The article analyses texts that describe the city of today’s L’viv at the turn of the 17th century, written by Ukrainian, Polish, and German authors in Church Slavonic, Prosta mova, Latin, and German. The names of some of these authors are known (e.g. the Polish Renaissance poet, Sebastian Fabian Klonowic, or the German merchant and traveller, Martin Gruneweg), while others remain anonymous (e.g. the author of a Ukrainian heraldic poem, a “lamentatio” addressed to the Polish king). These texts have some common aspects – they underline the multinationality of the city population as well as different religious denominations of every ethnic group (special attention is given to the Jewish population of the city) – and they represent conflicting points of view regarding privileges of various groups. Thus, the texts serve as an example of polyphony as defined by Mikhail Bakhtin. They combine different voices representing various national ideologies in one complex work, a text of the city of L᾿viv.

    Artykuł skupia się na wizerunku przedwojennego Drohobycza w utworach Atlantyda i Ziemia księżycowa Andrzeja Chciuka. Ze względu na wielokulturowość pogranicznego miasta praca jest próbą odpowiedzi na pytanie, jak w tej dylogii funkcjonują elementy etniczne, religijne i kulturowe. Ważny jest w niej mechanizmu budowania odrębności między polską, żydowską i ukraińską społecznością, które w prozie wspomnieniowej Andrzeja Chciuka tworzą jednolitą całość. W artykule analizuje się też konwencję gawędy, czy specyficznego języka „bałaku” – gwary Lwowa i jego okolic. Kategorią organizującą kształt i jakość przechowywanego we wspomnieniach świata jest „pamięć miejsca”. To ona stanowi fundament wspomnień Andrzeja Chciuka, które autor w omawianych utworach określa mianem „fotoplastikonu” lub „arrasu”. W pracy przytacza się także opinie o Drohobyczu pisarzy i publicystów, którzy odwiedzili to miasto przed drugą wojną światową i w XXI wieku. Dlatego celem artykułu jest ukazanie różnych punktów widzenia na temat tego pogranicznego miejsca.  
    This article focuses on the pre-war image of Drohobycz in Atlantyda and Ziemia księżycowa by Andrzej Chciuk. On account of multicultural borderland town, the concept of work is an attempt to answer the question: how the ethnic, religious and cultural elements function in the dilogy. The mechanism of creating the distinctiveness between Polish, Jewish and Ukrainian community is the crucial issue in the dilogy. This mechanism forms the coherent whole in the memorial prose by Andrzej Chciuk. The article analyzes the convention of tale and specific language “bałak” – the dialect of Lvov and the surrounding area. “Place memorial” is the category that establishes the shape and the quality of stored in recollection world. This provides a foundation of Andrzej Chciuk’s memories, which the author describes as “fotoplastikon” or “tapestry”. The work also cities the opinions of writers and journalists about Drohobych, who visited this city before the Second World War and in the 21st century. Therefore, the aim of the article is to show different points of view about this border location.
