    Opis:
    The identity development takes place during the process of integrating the past to the presence with anticipated future. Additionally, it occurs in ecological context which concerns relations and interactions at the individual, group and institutional levels, as well as changes related to the revitalization of regional cultures, the integration of states into transnational structures or the progressive processes of globalization. In the paper, the Authors mostly pay attention to ecological determinants that influence the process of identity development, which takes place in multicultural environment. The purpose of the paper is to present a new theoretical approach – Theory of Multidimensional Identity (TMI) by Jerzy Nikitorowicz. It is based on the fact that a child is located in a diverse cultural environment under the influence of traditional multiculturalism, having existed for several generations, for example, on the borderland. During different stages of identity development (from the past to the future), three groups of dimensions have been distinguished: dimensions in the context of inherited (given, taken over) identity; dimensions in the context of individually shaped and realised identity and dimensions which are socially determined. This theoretical approach allows for the analysis of dependence and relations between the different stages and dimensions of identity development. It highlights with which stages those three dimensions form the identity system, how it changes, what are the reasons for those changes and modifications.

    Artykuł zawiera analizę i interpretację indywidualnych przeżyć, doświadczeń, poglądów, wartości przedstawiciela innej kultury, będącego w trakcie kształtowania własnej tożsamości. Dobór przypadku był celowy, zorientowany na uzyskanie informacji. Metodą badawczą było jakościowe studium przypadku. Zastosowano techniki badawcze: wywiad narracyjny (przeprowadzono analizę zorientowaną na znaczenie z kodowaniem), skalę do badania tożsamości etnicznej (Phinney, 1992) skalę trudności doświadczanych w obcej kulturze (Furnham, Bohner, 1986). Wyniki dotyczą wymiarów wielowymiarowej tożsamości badanego przypadku z uporządkowanymi 20 kategoriami pojęciowymi i ich kodami oraz interpretacją znaczeń nadawanych wymiarom tożsamości narratora. Raport przedstawia znaczenie poznawcze i praktyczne badanego przypadku.     The article contains analysis and interprets an individual experience, feelings, perspectives and value system of a man (the representative of another culture) who is on his way to shape his own identity. The research method that enabled reaching the aim was the qualitative research study in which four research techniques were applied, i.e. a narrative interview (the analysis oriented on the meaning of coding), a scale researching ethnical identity (Phinney, 1992), a range of hardships experienced in an alien culture (Furnham, Bohner, 1986). The selection of the case was determined by a wish to gain information. The results concern the dimensions of multidimensional identity tested with 20 conceptual categories, as well as the codes and interpretation of the meanings of broadcast dimensions of the identity of the narrator. The report presents the cognitive and practical significance of the case.     Assumptions and problems of the Project are presented in this text. The history of multicultural territory, which is located The on the borderland of jointed and transitional Eastern and Western Christianity and national groups: Polish, Belarusian, Lithuanian and Ukrainian, were presented by the author. Then the attention was drawn to the perspectives of diagnoses of multiculturalism in the context of the acquisition of competence for intercultural communication. The need for the analyses of the multiculturalism in several dimensions was emphasized and considered as a process. In this context, the need to diagnose multicultural and intercultural regions population was identified and justified. The result highlights the need to continue this type of the research.

    Tożsamość jednostki konstruowana jest w kulturowych odniesieniach. Proces ten staje się jeszcze bardziej złożonym, gdy zachodzi w przestrzeni wielokulturowej. W efekcie na specyfice tożsamości ważą różnorodne identyfikacje dokonujące się w odniesieniu do obiektów kultury własnej i kultur odmiennych. Ważną rolę w tym procesie odgrywa poczucie bezpieczeństwa kulturowego, które nie tylko gwarantuje pewność przetrwania i rozwoju tożsamości narodowej jednostek i wspólnot kulturowych, lecz także w większym lub mniejszym stopniu pozwala otworzyć się na kultury odmienne. Dzięki czemu możliwe jest budowanie wspólnoty na styku kultur. U podłoża kreowania tejże wspólnoty lokować można m.in. procesy międzykulturowości i transkulturacji, które generują specyficzne przestrzenie doświadczania jednostki i konstruowania jej tożsamości kulturowej. Wymaga to jednak od jednostki umiejętności określenia granicy między sobą a Innymi, co jest podstawowym elementem kulturowej autoidentyfikacji oraz stanowi niezbędny warunek wykraczania poza granice własnej kultury i otwarcia się na oferty poza granicami. Stad szczególnego znaczenia nabiera proces konstruowania tożsamości na styku kultur, a w szczególności obiekty kulturowej identyfikacji, przesłanki i korelaty tożsamości kulturowej. Ważna jest przy tym specyfika wspólnoty na styku kultur. Wielość odniesień kulturowych w procesie konstruowania tożsamości na pograniczu kultur, w ramach wspólnoty pogranicza, czyni tożsamość wielozakresową i wielowymiarową, z wyraźną ekspozycją czynników ją konceptualizujących, a mianowicie: własne i ponadnarodowe dziedzictwo kulturowe, obywatelskość, poczucie wspólnotowości oraz międzykulturowość.
    The identity of the individual is constructed in cultural references. This process becomes even more complex, when occurring in the multicultural area. As a result, the specificity of identities is influenced by diverse identifications taking place with reference to objects of own and different cultures. A sense of cultural safety plays an important role in this process, not only guaranteeing the certainty of existence and development of the national identity of individuals and cultural community, but it also allows – to a different degree – to open one self to different cultures. This, in turn, allows to build community at the meeting points of cultures. At the basis of creating this bond it is possible to locate (among others) processes of inter- and trans-culturalism, which generate specific spaces of individual experiences and constructing own cultural identity. However, it demands the ability to define the border between oneself and the Other, i.e. a basic component of the cultural self-identity, as it constitutes the essential condition of going beyond border of the own culture and opening to opportunities behind. A process of constructing the identity in the cultural borderlands, in particular concerning objects of the cultural identification, its premises and correlates, all are of key importance. In addition, in this regard the character and specificity of community is crucial. The multitude of cultural references in the process of constructing the identity in the borderland, within the community of borderland, make the identity multi-range and multi-dimensional, with the distinct exhibition of the conceptualising factors, that is own and supranational cultural legacy, citizenship, sense of the community, and cross-culturalism.

    W artykule dokonano analizy badań pedagogicznych prowadzonych przez ukraińskich i polskich naukowców, dotyczących problemów kulturologicznych edukacji. Wykazano, że na Ukrainie problemy kulturologiczne edukacji stają się coraz bardziej powszechne, odbywa się stopniowe rozgraniczenie treści pojęć edukacji wielokulturowej i międzykulturowej, problemy edukacji międzykulturowej coraz częściej znajdują odzwierciedlenie w badaniach naukowych i praktyce dydaktycznej. Ważne znaczenie w rozwoju zagadnień kulturologicznych w badaniach pedagogicznych ma rozwój nowego kierunku zintegrowanych badań naukowych na Ukrainie – oświatologii oraz jej części składowej – edukacji kulturologicznej. Badania polskich naukowców opierają się na znaczących osiągnięciach polskiej nauki pedagogicznej i praktyce w zakresie wdrażania podejścia kulturologicznego w edukacji. Szczególną uwagę w badaniach polskich naukowców zwraca się na edukację wielokulturową oraz międzykulturową na pograniczu; na kształtowanie wielowymiarowej tożsamości człowieka; na różne aspekty teorii i metodyki edukacji międzykulturowej. Do rozwiązywania problemów edukacji wielokulturowej w Polsce przyczynia się wyraźne rozgraniczenie pojęć edukacji wielokulturowej i międzykulturowej, określenie na poziomie ustawodawczym pojęć mniejszości narodowej, grupy etnicznej i in.
    The article deals with the pedagogical research of Ukrainian and Polish scientists which explores the problem of cultural education. It is shown that in Ukraine cultural problems of education are becoming more common, there is a gradual disengagement of the conceps of multicultural education and the issues of intercultural education are increasingly more often reflected in the research and teaching practice. What seems essential for the expansion of cultural issues in educational research is the development of Ukraine in the field of research into integrated education, educology and its components, cultural education. The research of Polish scientists is based on some significant achievements of Polish teaching science and practice concerning implementation of the cultural approach to education. Special attention is drawn to the studies of Polish scientists on multicultural and intercultural education in borderlands, forming the multidimensional identity, to various aspects of the theory and methods of intercultural education. Solving the problems of multicultural education in Poland contributes to a clear distinction between multicultural and intercultural education, to providing the definition in legal terms of national minorities, ethnic groups, etc.

    The theoretical and methodological framework of the undertaken issue is indicated by basic notional categories - culture, value and valuing orientations. While analyzing the philosophical and educational context, assumptions of social and cultural anthropology were applied (with a special focus on its anthropocentric-cultural current), (phenomenologically orientated) axiology and cognitive psychology (with the use of its cognitive-developmental theories). Assumption was also made concerning the exploration of youth’s image of the axiological world and the valuing orientations manifested by them, that make it possible to learn the way(s) rooted in culture and experience, in which learners understand themselves, Others and the world.
