Opis:
The author has made a multidimensional review of the determinants of retail business strategies in the context of the development of the omni-channel trade concept. The development of ICT and innovation in new omni-channel sales, affect the changes in customer acquisition processes. A customer-oriented trading company must take these changes into account in its customer service strategy and effectively meet new customer needs resulting from these changes. The article concludes with identifying new logistical customer service challenges and proposing operational actions needed to meet these challenges. The development of the omni-channel concept implies the simultaneous use of traditional channels and online channels in sales strategies. In addition, the company uses modern forms of promotion based on electronic channels and social media. These conditions necessitate a change in the architecture of the business enterprise's processes.

Theoretical background: The rapid technological development of the past decade has exerted a major influence on consumer behaviours and created new ways of reaching customers. The contemporary consumer freely switches between brick-and-mortar, online and mobile sales channels, expecting that a product will be available any time, any place. Such behaviours pose a serious challenge to retail enterprises, in particular in the context of integrating offlne and online sales channels.Purpose of the article: This paper aims to determine the extent to which contemporary enterprises need to implement multichannel strategies to ensure access to goods and services in order to satisfy the increasing expectations of purchasers and gain advantage in the highly competitive market. A broader thread of the discussions concerns the transformation of the so-called business models taking place in the present retail sector in Poland and across the globe.Research methods: The problem discussed in this paper required a review of the relevant international literature at the initial stage in order to determine the results of theoretical and empirical research on the development of multichannel selling in the retail market in light of changing consumer purchasing preferences. The following available bases were used: ScienceDirect, Taylor & Francis Online, Emerald and SAGE Journals, as well as online research of market reports and statistical studies, which contributed to the analysis of the transformations occurring in the retail sector.Main findings: This paper indicates two major marketing consequences for the enterprises applying multiple channels in gaining access to goods and services. In order to rise to market challenges, retail enterprises must not only employ the multichannel selling strategy but also ensure its integrity. In the face of such challenges, a new approach in creating unique values and solutions in the areas of logistics, distribution, promotion and pricing policy is required. Online sale channels pose a challenge to retail enterprises, in particular as regards delivering identical experiences and a consistent offer to the consumer.

Nowadays, trade is shifting mainly to virtual reality. Increasingly more customers, using various types of mobile devices such as computers, smartphones, tablets, look for products and services in online stores, counting on fast, convenient and efficient fulfilment of the order. To meet the customers’ requirements, trade enterprises may implement the omnichannel strategy as a way to streamline the entire sales and distribution system of goods from the store to the customer, ensuring the possibility of continuous monitoring transactions. The paper examines the development of omnichannel strategy by the Polish small and medium enterprises. The underlying assumption of the paper is to identify to what extent the Polish companies concentrate on omnichannel strategy in the functioning of their business. The discussion is based on the results of the study obtained from the CAWI survey, CATI survey, and the in-depth interview conducted among the group of Polish MSMEs in Silesian Voivodeship.

Opis:
The purpose of this paper is to present a multichannel ultrasonic range finder which was designed for the navigation system for blind people. A substantial number of consultations with blind people in the Blind People Centre in Krakow have shown that the navigation and obstacle detection with a help of a white stick only, is not sufficient enough to assure a high safety level. Electronic aids which are being designed for blind people should be mobile, comfortable and low-powered. That is why the MOBIAN© (a mobile safety system for the blind) project is being carried out by the authors to create a highly reliable safety navigation system for blind people. It could not only improve blind people quality of life but also their safety, especially when they are walking in unknown areas. As a part of this project, the multichannel ultrasonic range finder was designed, produced and tested. The tests have proven the device is capable of detecting objects from different directions in a range over 4 m. The device interface is easy to manage and can be controlled by almost any microcontroller or FPGA chip. The designed range finder is to be implemented in the electronic assistant project for blind people. Other systems, including the industrial ones, for instance, mobile robots or gates that count people entries, could benefit from this multichannel range finder. Usually, some low-cost ultrasonic range finders use two transducers for each channel (a transmitter and a receiver). The designed device employs only one transducer per channel which minimizes the end-device size and cost and at the same time provides with the main functionality. Novelty of this device is its multichannel design and the emplacement of the ultrasonic transducers, which can be used due to the application of the multichannel analog multiplexer. Thus, it is possible to detect obstacles, even the inclined ones, with higher reliability and increase the safety of blind people while walking. Also, this design and the transducers’ placement allow to detect obstacles much quicker, when the blind user suddenly turns.

Opis:
Background: The increasing role of trade as the integrator of distribution channels has been observed in Poland recently. Retail companies have gained a competitive advantage in relationships with both suppliers and recipients. The natural questions are, how the situation of the wholesale trade looks at present in such a situation and what prospects it has for the future. The main aim of this paper is to identify and describe the influence of new conditions on the development of the wholesale trade as part of the supply chain. The hypothesis was assumed that this development is determined by processes related to the concentration of trade companies, which were also visiblerecently in Poland. Methods: The main concentration processes in Polish trade were identified based on a literature review and previous research. Then, based on the results of a survey and data obtained from the Central Statistical Office, the influence of these trends on the development of wholesale trade was evaluated. The further directions of changes in Polish wholesale trade were also indicated. Empirical research was conducted by the use of a direct interview with a random sample of 108 wholesale companies, both independent and as part of chains. The research focused on wholesalers' opinions of market trends and integration processes in Polish wholesale trade and cover the years 2014-15. Results: The results show the key market processes with regard to trade concentration. The biggest threats to the development of the wholesale trade are the processes of the horizontal concentration in retail. The concentration of retail companies leads to a shortening of the distribution channels and direct purchases from producers omitting the wholesale stage. Despite these threats, wholesalers describe their situation as good, and their opinion can be confirmed in data provided by the Central Statistical Office. Conclusions: The market processes identified must be taken into consideration in formulating the strategies of wholesale companies in Poland. The author believes that one of possible solutions which should be implemented by wholesalers is multichannel sales, as described in this paper.

In recent times the growing utilization of the electromagnetic environment brings the passive radar researches more and more to the fore. For the utilization of the wide range of illuminators of opportunity the application of wideband radio receivers is required. At the same time the multichannel receiver structure has also critical importance in target direction finding and interference suppression. This paper presents the development of a multichannel software defined receiver specifically for passive radar applications. One of the relevant feature of the developed receiver platform is its up-todate SoC (System on hip) based structure, which greatly enhance the integration and signal processing capacity of the system, all while keeping the costs low. The software defined operation of the discussed receiver system is demonstrated with using DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcast – Terrestrial) signal as illuminator of opportunity. During this demonstration the multichannel capabilities of the realized system are also tested with real data using direction finding and beamforming algorithms.

Opis:
Theoretical background: The idea of multichanneling gained popularity in the late 1990s mostly due to the development of the Internet. Distribution changed from using single to several channels and integrating them, which allowed consumers to access multiple channels at every stage of the buyer decision process. Using multiple channels is referred to as multi-, cross-, or omni-channelling, depending on the level of channel interaction and integration. Transforming distribution from multi-, to omni-channelling can require important and expensive changes in the organization. In Poland, most of the retailers do not meet the requirements of omnichanneling, which leaves the consumers mostly with the experience of multi-, and cross-channelling distribution.Purpose of the article: The purpose of this article is to explore the consumer journey of Millennials in multichannel shopping by examining the usage of distribution channels by Generation Y and preferences about the delivery of products bought online. The factors that can encourage them to choose online channel and click-and-collect delivery more often are also investigated.Research methods: To test the hypotheses, literature research and quantitative study was implemented using an online survey (CASI). The study involved a group of 266 respondents from Generation Y and was conducted in January 2019. Research results were also compared to the prior research found in the literature.Main findings: Research results show that online channels are more popular for information seeking by Millennials but traditional stores are preferred by them for purchase decisions. There is also diversity in the channels used for purchasing researched group of products, which shows that integrating the channels in selected aspects may provide a more positive buying experience and create loyalty. Aspects differentiating multi- and cross-channels from omnichannels, such as lower prices and special offers in online stores, can increase the usage of online channels. The popularity of mobile devices is not well used in distribution channels – it is more popular to use a store’s website on a smartphone than a mobile application to purchase a product. Generation Y is also more likely to use the effect of ROPO (webrooming) than reversed-ROPO (showrooming). The aspects well known for omnichanneling can increase the popularity of click-and-collect among Millennials.

Opis:
The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether and how the generation Y changes shopping channels in their consumption decision path. Linking the online and offline channels in consumer journey has been evaluated. The first part of the work presents literature review - shopping behaviour patterns among generation Y, online and offline channels in the purchasing process, multichannel and omnichannel perspectives. The second part of the work presents the results of authors' original empirical pilot research on the the young consumers’ selected multichannel purchase activities and motivations to combine and exchang shopping channels. In this study, the selective quota sampling procedure was used. The study covers 235 students of the Faculty of Management at the University of Gdansk in 2017. The results suggest that multichannel purchase activities undertaken by the Y generation concerned a product contact, seeing it as well as buying and collecting it. What’s more both saving time and money are the prerequisites for online shopping. Online and offline retails have to adapt to new forms of shopping that have become more popular among younger consumers. It is reasonable to conclude that multichannel and omnichannel are a challenge for enterprises targeting their offer to consumers belonging to the Y generation.
Celem artykułu jest prezentacja wyników badań dotyczących zmiany kanałów zakupowych podczas procesu podejmowania decyzji zakupowych przez przedstawicieli pokolenia Y. Dokonano analizy przemieszczania się konsumentów pomiędzy kanałami online i offline w trakcie ścieżki zakupowej. W pierwszej części pracy przedstawiono przegląd literatury – wzorce zachowań zakupowych wśród generacji Y, kanały podejmowania decyzji zakupowej online i offline oraz perspektywę multichannel i omnichannel.

We report on a multichannel sensor for multipoint corrosion monitoring of an aluminum film, which was corroded by nitric acid as a corrosive solution. The sensor head was a commercial 1x4 optical fiber coupler combined with the optical time domain reflectometry technique. The effects of the concentration and pH of acid on the corrosion rate of the aluminum film are initially studied and characterized. Then, about 100 nm of pure aluminum is coated on the end facets of each fiber channel and reduction of the back reflected signals is simultaneously monitored as a measure of corrosion rate. It is found that the fabricated sensor is very sensitive to the variation of pH as by increasing of the pH up to similar to 13, the corrosion rate of aluminum is raised to similar to 75 millimeter per year. Our experimental results have been verified by the standard immersion test, indicating very good consistency and reliability. Eventually, the sensor is used to trace the corrosion of sea water provided from the Persian Gulf, confirming the validity of laboratory results.

The transmission spectra of one dimensional metallic photonic crystal containing defects are studied using a transfer matrix method. We consider silver as a defect layer with a refractive index dependent on wavelength and temperature simultaneously. Since the loss factor of silver is the function of temperature, we should find a structure that has sharp transmission peaks to model a filter. We present the structure with a coupled defect. It is found that the number of transmission resonant peaks is equal to the number of coupled defects and they are tunable with temperature and incident angle.

Opis:
W eksperymentach fizycznych, medycznych, biologicznych, badaniach materiałowych coraz częściej zastosowanie znajdują różnego rodzaju matryce mikroczujników, składające się z setek, a nawet tysięcy elementów detekcyjnych.
Nowadays arrays of microsensors are often used in experimental sciences like physics, biology, material science or medical imaging. Effective use of these arrays requires multichannel electronic readout systems. The readout electronics is often made as ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) which is responsible for analog and digital signal processing. Because of multichannel architecture of the integrated circuit dedicated to the readout of microsensor arrays, there are several important constrains which must be fulfilled during the design process like area and power limitation per single channel, noise minimization and uniformity of analog parameters for all channel. Additionally the digital blocks in a such ASIC obtain a lot of data, which must be compressed, stored and transmitted to data acquisition system. The paper describes important design aspects of multichannel circuit and methods used for data compression.

Opis:
This paper presents the design and measurements of 64 channel Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC) for recording signals in neurobiology experiments. The ASIC is designed in 180 nm technology and operates with ± 0.9 V supply voltage. Single readout channel is built of AC coupling circuit at the input and two amplifier stages. In order to reduce the number of output lines, the 64 analogue signals from readout channels are multiplexed to a single output by an analogue multiplexer. The gain of the single channel can be set either to 350 V/V or 700 V/V. The low and the high cut-off frequencies can be tuned in 9 ÷ 90 Hz and in the 1.6 ÷ 24 kHz range respectively. The input referred noise is 7 µV rms in the bandwidth 90 Hz - 1.6 kHz and 9 µ V rms in the bandwidth 9 Hz - 24 kHz. The single channel consumes 200 µW of power and this together with other parameters make the chip suitable for recording neurobiology signals.
