Opis:
This paper presents an approach of optimization of a truck semitrailer suspension system, with utilization of multibody model; its purpose was to find the best values of operational parameters: stiffness and damping factors, in order to minimize the disadvantageous influence of force distribution in the high risk areas, where preceding strength analysis has pointed out dangerous load values. The model contains elements of two different types: flexible and rigid bodies, in purpose of increasing the accuracy level of conducted numerical calculations. A number of simulations with different parameters and under different load cases have been carried out, combined with a parametric and structural sensitivity analysis, what has enabled an estimation of individual factors influencing particular forces that have been the objectives of optimization procedure. The stiffness and damping coefficients of the construction suspension system have been adjusted by applying metamodeling techniques. Basing on the chosen design of experiment results, this procedure allows for an approximation of the behaviour of the analysed construction in the whole design space. In this process, two different approaches have been used: Kriging and polynomial regression, and both have been compared to the simulations results. Finally, using a desirability function, the most optimal solution has been found.

This paper descript software for vehicle simulation and mathematical models that describe the motion of the vehicle. A dynamic simulation model of vehicle was developed using Matlab/Simulink and SimDriveline toolbox. The model has a configurable structure that is suitable to simulation with multiple levels. The powertrain system model developed using Simulink and SimDrivline could also be used as a generic, modular and flexible vehicle modeling platform to support the integration of powertrain design and control system optimization.

This paper briefs a part of authors’ study on co-simulation techniques and their application to multibody system dynamics. The main concern of the study is on construction and properties of algorithms that are suitable for such purpose. One of the proposed methods from literature is so-called “gluing-algorithm” by Wang et al. These authors proposed Newton iteration to couple several simulators of mechanical subsystems through constraints/reactions, and provided numerical examples to suggest efficiency of the method. Here we re-investigate the method in order to underline some problems that one might meet when using the “gluingalgorithm”.

The paper presents the results of numerical analyses that were carried out in order to evaluate how a change in a size of a clearance in a slewing motion drive system of a telescopic crane influences the movement of a load and the dynamic loads of a structure. A computational model was developed based on a real structure of an experimental crane by using the ADAMS software. The analyses showed that a circumferential clearance at the output of a reduction gear, which is less than 1º, does not adversely affect the precision of the load movement. An excessive clearance leads to losing fluidity of a body slewing motion and to changes in the trajectory of the load.

Computer simulations are currently often utilized tools in vehicle design, diagnostics of vehicle behaviour and evaluation of their characteristics. The vehicle multibody system (MBS) represents a complicated mechanical system especially when flexible bodies are considered, modelled and implemented in the calculation. Multibody system dynamics is based on classical mechanics and its engineering applications range from mechanisms, through means of transport, to biomechanics. Results of multibody system dynamics are most important for an assessment and diagnostics of transport means behaviour even in the development phase. This paper deals with the multibody system dynamic approach and its application in vehicle multibody systems. The first part of this paper focuses on a general approach to the multibody system of vehicles, especially of rail vehicles, and it includes fundamentals of multibody system dynamics. The next part deals with practical use of multibody system software. A multibody system of a passenger car have been modelled using commercial software, we have carried out simulations of a passenger car running on the real track, and subsequently we assessed its ride properties and evaluated its passenger comfort level.
