Opis:
Motivation regulation has a profound effect on the students’ learning and associated achievement. Yet, to date, there is a lack of a brief and valid approach for systematically assessing the regulation of learning motivation from the perspective of psychometrics, especially for the high middle school students. This study develops a general scale for quantitatively assessing the learning motivation regulation of high middle students, based on the combination of literature analysis and open‑ended interviews in china General Learning Motivation Regulation Scale for Chinese High Middle School Students (GLMR‑CHMSS). A total of 2,304 questionnaires of high middle school students were included for item analysis and exploratory factor analysis, and another 2,304 questionnaires of high middle school students were subjected to confirmatory factor analyses and a validation and reliability test. The scale consisted of 24‑items that can be divided into four factors: intrinsic motivation regulation, extrinsic motivation regulation, volitional behavioural regulation, and self‑efficacy regulation. As indicated by the confirmatory factor analysis with the control group, the four‑factor structure model of the GLMR‑CHMSS fitted well (χ2 /df=7.839, RMSEA=0.054, CFI=0.918, TLI=0.908). In ad dition, using academic achievement as the empirical validity criterion, the scores of each factor of GLMR‑CHMSS and the scale score were significantly correlated with academic achievement were the reliability indicators. This study show cases a novel and valid tool for mesuring the degree of learning motivation regulation of high middle school students in China.

Opis:
Cel badań: Celem badań było określenie związków pomiędzy poszczególnymi typami regulacji motywacji postulowanymi w teorii autodeterminacji Deciego i Ryana (2000) i zaspokojeniem potrzeb w pracy (autonomii, kompetencji i więzi z innymi ludźmi) a WLB i poczuciem satysfakcji z życia pracowników korporacji. Metoda badań: Badaniem objęto 82 pracowników pięciu instytucji z sektora finansowego w wieku od 22 do 62 lat; 27 (33%) respondentów było na stanowisku menedżerskim. W badaniu wykorzystano kwestionariusze: Work-Life Balance (Hill, Hawkins, Ferris, Weitzman, 2001), SWLS (Juczyński, 2012), Work Extrinsic and Intrinsic Motivation Scale (WEIMS) Tremblay, Blanchard, Taylor, Pelletier, Villeneuve. (2009) oraz Basic Psychological Need Satisfaction Scale – Work Domain (Deci i in., 2001). Wyniki: Wśród respondentów stwierdzono negatywny związek amotywacji – braku motywacji do pracy z WLB.
Introduction: Maintaining a balance between personal and professional life (work-life balance, WLB) is one of the key factors important for the effectiveness of functioning in the professional area and also has a direct impact on the sense of satisfaction with life. The article explores the relationship between motivational factors and needs satisfaction at work and WLB and life satisfaction. Research Aim: The aim of the research was to determine the relationships between the different types of motivation regulation postulated in the theory of self-determination by Deci and Ryan (2000) and the satisfaction of needs at work (autonomy, competence and bonds with other people) and WLB and the sense of life satisfaction of corporate employees. Method: The study covered 82 employees of five institutions from the financial sector, aged 22 to 62.27 (33%) of the respondents held a managerial position. The following questionnaires were used in the study: “Work-Life Balance” (Hill Hawkins, Ferris, Weitzman, 2001), “SWLS” (Juczyński, 2012), Work Extrinsic and Intrinsic Motivation Scale (WEIMS) Tremblay, Blanchard, Taylor, Pelletier, Villeneuvei (2009), and Basic Psychological Need Satisfaction Scale – Work Domain (Deci et al., 2001). Results: Among the respondents, a negative relationship between amotivation – lack of motivation to work and WLB was found. The factor that turned out to be positively associated with WLB was the satisfaction of the need of autonomy at work. Positive relationships were also found between intrinsic motivation and life satisfaction, as well as WLB and life satisfaction. Conclusions: The results of the study indicate that it is not so much the specific type of motivation that affects the maintenance of WLB, as the lack of motivation is associated with the disturbance of this balance. The key need that is met at work translates into WLB is the need for autonomy. Our study reported a positive relationship between WLB and life satisfaction. This means that maintaining a work-life balance can be considered as one of the important aspects of well-being.

Opis:
This paper reviews the history of the distinctions that have been made, and the differences discovered, between promotion and prevention self-regulation. These include, respectively: (1) Nurturance versus security; (2) ideal (hopes) versus ought (duties) self-guides; (3) presence and absence of positive outcomes versus absence and presence of negative outcomes; (4) approaching matches to a desired end-state versus avoiding mismatches to a desired end-state; (5) eager for “hits” versus vigilant against “errors of commission”; (6) speed versus accuracy; (7) global/abstract versus local/concrete; and (8) intuitions versus reasons. A fundamental, “story of 0”, distinction between promotion and prevention self-regulation is then discussed: attaining “+1” from “0” versus maintaining “0” against “-1”, where “0” is a non-gain in the former and a non-loss in the latter. The paper then shows how each of the earlier distinctions and differences between promotion and prevention can be understood in terms of this fundamental distinction.

Procrastination is generally understood as the practice of irrationally putting activities or tasks off to a later time. In the case of academic procrastination, it is a tendency to put off academic tasks. The main objective of the presented research study was to map strategies of Slovak university students used for overcoming academic procrastination, as well as to test the relationship of procrastination with potential protective factors-volitional regulation and achievement motivation. Based on the results of our research, strategies of social motivation and positive attitude are, on average, the most frequently used to overcome academic procrastination. Results of the research also confirmed a negative correlation of procrastination with volitional regulation and its dimensions, as well as with some dimensions of achievement motivation.

Opis:
The article presents the method of studying of value-motivational factors of political activity. The analysis of terminological and theoretical premises of research of value-motivational factors of political activity is done. Author’s approach to organization of empirical research of psychology of minority political activity is proposed. Correlation of values and motivation, dynamics of social, activity and personal mechanisms of personality development are considered in the terminological analysis. Using of three factor theory by D. McClelland to empirical research of value-motivational factors of political activity is justified. Based on analysis of research methods of value-motivational factors the content analysis system that allows to measure individual motivational tendencies and qualitative features of human motivation is described. Based on the analysis of H.Hekhauzen’s research 4 types of situations of the development and implementation of political values and motivation are singled out: 1) the self comparison with own achievements; 2) the self comparison with standart; 3) social comparison with a real opponent; 4) social comparisons with generalized or personalized ideal. Structure of the research of value-motivational factors of political activity comprises the steps of photobiographical research, expert evaluation and value grates building. Analysis of the results provides quantitative and qualitative interpretation. Quantitative analysis includes content analysis of the structure of motivation and levels of the value regulation, and the factor modeling. Categories of content analysis can explore the achievement motivation (success motive and the motive of avoiding failure), power motivation and motivation of affiliation (adoption). Each of the categories of content analysis is analyzed for compliance motivational components to one of value levels - social, processual or subjective. The categories for content analysis of achievement motivation is the need to achieve success or to avoid failure, the corresponding instrumental activity, expectations of success or failure, positive or negative reinforcement, emotional state and result. The study of power motive is through singling of categories of prestige, instrumental activity aimed at power, external interference, power anticipation, emotional states, the effect of power action. Content analysis of affiliation motives includes an analysis following categories: positive emotions, dialogue, growth, loyalty, freedom from restrictions, reunification, harmony, conquest to sense, a refuge in a relationship, unity with nautre. As for the level of value, the article noted that on social level individual development is determined by the needs for approval and recognition and reflection is directed to understanding of referential awareness of assessments and forecasting of the basis of their own development. Process level is characterized by awareness of conditions and requirements of activity, reflection focus on skills, actions and operations and the their related results criterion for evaluating of which is effort. On the subjective level processes that occur in the sphere of activity and in social relations are conscious and influence the planning of further self-development. The indicators of qualitative analysis are: expression of each component in the structure of motivation, completeness of structure of motivation, external and internal balance of motivation structure, the analysis of groups of values that were significant for the results of value assessment. The proposed research represents the ideographic approach to the study of values and motivation and allows to follow the laws of value-motivational determination of political activity of the political leaders of national minorities.
