Opis:
The aim of the presented work was the development of a tracking algorithm for a stereoscopic camera setup equipped with an additional inertial sensor. The input of the algorithm consists of the image sequence, angular velocity and linear acceleration vectors measured by the inertial sensor. The main assumption of the project was fusion of data streams from both sources to obtain more accurate ego-motion estimation. An electronic module for recording the inertial sensor data was built. Inertial measurements allowed a coarse estimation of the image motion field that has reduced its search range by standard image-based methods. Continuous tracking of the camera motion has been achieved (including moments of image information loss). Results of the presented study are being implemented in a currently developed obstacle avoidance system for visually impaired pedestrians.

Opis:
Interpolation of ship motion vectors is able to be used for estimating the lost ship AIS dynamic information, which is important for replaying marine accidents and for analysing marine traffic data. The previous methods can only interpolate ship’s position, while not including ship's course and speed. In this paper, vector function is used to express the relationship between the ship’s time and space coordinates, and the tangent of the vector function and its change rate are able to express physical characteristics of ship’s course, speed and acceleration. The given AIS dynamic information can be applied to calculate the parameters of ship's vector function and then the interpolation model for ship motion vectors is developed to estimate the lost ship dynamic information at any given moment. Experiment results show that the ship motion vector function is able to depict the characteristics of ship motions accurately and the model can estimate not only the ship’s position but also ship’s course and speed at any given moment with limited differences.

Opis:
When cameras are used in aerial photography, satellite imaging or other scenes, the motion of the observational target causes image blur. The corresponding motion compensation systems often present some response delay. Thus, we introduce effective and fast motion prediction for the target to achieve steady real-time motion compensation. We first analyze the target motion states to propose a fast and robust prediction method based on the least square support vector machine algorithm. Then, we evaluate the performance between ours and other state-of-the-art methods through experiments. Experimental results confirm that the proposed method provides a fast and robust prediction for target motion. At last, we embed our method with dual-resolution camera system to perform high-quality motion compensation effect in real time.

Opis:
This article presents the application of weighted least squares (WLS) extrapolation and vector autoregressive (VAR) modeling in polar motion prediction. A piecewise weighting function is developed for the least squares (LS) adjustment in consideration of the effect of intervals between observation and prediction epochs on WLS extrapolation. Furthermore, the VAR technique is used to simultaneously model and predict the residuals of xp, yp pole coordinates for WLS misfit. The simultaneous predictions of xp, yp pole coordinates are subsequently computed by the combination of WLS extrapolation of harmonic models for the linear trend, Chandler and annual wobbles, and VAR stochastic prediction of the residuals (WLS+VAR). The 365-day-ahead xp, yp predictions are compared with those generated by LS extrapolation+univariate AR prediction and LS extrapolation+VAR modeling. It is shown that the xp, yp predictions based on WLS+VAR taking into consideration both the interval effect and correlation between xp and yp outperform those generated by two others. The accuracies of the xp predictions are 13.97 mas, 18.47 mas, and 20.52 mas, respectively for the 150-, 270-, and 365-day horizon in terms of the mean absolute error statistics, 36%, 24.8%, and 33.5% higher than LS+AR, respectively. For the yp predictions, the 150-, 270-, and 365-day accuracies are 15.41 mas, 21.17 mas, and 21.82 mas respectively, 27.4%, 11.9%, and 21.8% higher than LS+AR respectively. Moreover, the absolute differences of the WLS+VAR predictions and observations are smaller than the differences from LS+VAR and LS+AR, which is practically important to practical and scientific users, although the improvement in accuracies is no more than 10% relative to LS+VAR. The further comparison with the predictions submitted to the 1st Earth Orientation Parameters Prediction Comparison Campaign (1st EOP PCC) shows that while the accuracy of the predictions within 30 days is comparable with that by the most accurate prediction techniques including neural networks and LS+AR participating in the campaign for xp, yp pole coordinates, the accuracy of the predictions up to 365 days into the future are better than accuracies by the other techniques except best LS+AR used in the EOP PCC. It is therefore concluded that the medium- and long-term prediction accuracy of polar motion can be improved by modeling xp, yp pole coordinates together.

Motion control is facing an increasing popularity in the present research activities. Owing to the expected wide spreading of motion control applications, it can be predicted that the advancements in the field of electric motor drives will have a high level of influence on the new results in the field of motion control. The synchronous reluctance motor drives mean an excellent and yet cost-effective solution for actuators in motion control applications. In this article, the direct torque control with space vector modulation is analysed as a possible candidate for synchronous reluctance motor motion control applications. Its torque-control performance is investigated as a function of torque-control sample time, and a comparison of the torque ripples is made with other torque-control algorithms by an FFT analysis.

The article presents selected results of the analytical work carried out in the Air Force Institute of Technology and the Polish Air Force Academy by means of a computer simulation of noncommutativity phenomena submitting aircraft turnover on high-manoeuvrability flights. The results of these simulations allowed to define the guidelines for the method of “production” of noncommutativity phenomenon in specialized rotating positions for strapdown inertial navigation systems (to evaluate the errors of determining spatial orientation). Also, it analysed the possibility of “production” noncommutativity rotational movement in mobile flight simulator used for testing pilots and candidates for pilots (to test the sensitivity of the pilot’s vestibular system in terms of feeling the impact of this phenomenon). The results of the assessment of “greatness” noncommutativity angular velocity vector, occurring in some parts of the high-manoeuvrability flight of aircraft on the example of a fighter-bomber airplane Su-22 were discussed as well.

Opis:
This paper is devoted to the way point following motion task of a unicycle where the motion planning and the closed-loop motion realization stage are considered. The way point following task is determined by the user-defined sequence of way-points which have to be passed by the unicycle with the assumed finite precision. This sequence will take the vehicle from the initial state to the target state in finite time. The motion planning strategy proposed in the paper does not involve any interpolation of way-points leading to simplified task description and its subsequent realization. The motion planning as well as the motion realization stage are based on the Vector-Field-Orientation (VFO) approach applied here to a new task. The unique features of the resultant VFO control system, namely, predictable vehicle transients, fast error convergence, vehicle directing effect together with very simple controller parametric synthesis, may prove to be useful in practically motivated motion tasks.

Synchronous reluctance motor drives are one of the most attractive alternatives of permanent magnet synchronous motor drives and induction motor drives in the field of conventional industrial and household applications. This tendency is expected to be continued in the case of motion control applications as well. This article investigates two torque-control algorithms that are possible candidates for motion control synchronous reluctance motor applications. The examined torque-control algorithms are direct torque control (DTC) and hysteresis current vector control (HCVC).

A method of constructing nonlinear motion stability equations for isotropic elastic bodies is developed for cylindrical bodies of standard material of the 2nd order subjected to the action of “dead” axial compressive forces. The perturbation of the displacement vector is given by its approximate decomposition with respect to the base of tensor functions of the 1st, 2nd and 3d valences. The time-dependent tensor coefficients of the decomposition satisfy the system of ordinary differential equations. Based on the obtained equations one can investigate the balance stability of cylindrical bodies under various fixing conditions.

Opis:
This paper presents a medical application of the intelligent sensing and monitoring, a new lung tumor motion prediction method for tumor following radiation therapy. An essential core of the method is accurate estimation of complex fluctuation of time-varying periodical nature of lung tumor motion. Such estimation is achieved by using a novel multiple time-varying seasonal autoregressive (TVSAR) model in which several windows of different time-lengths are used to calculate correlation based fluctuation of periodic nature in the motion. The proposed method provides the prediction as a combination of those based on different window lengths. Multiple regression (MR), multilayer perceptron (MLP) and support vector regression (SVR) are used to combine and the prediction performances are evaluated by using clinical lung tumor motion. The proposed methods with the combined predictions showed high accurate prediction and are superior to the single different predictions. The average errors of MR, MLP, and SVR were 0.8455,0.8507, and 0.7530 mm at 0.5 s ahead, respectively. The results are clinically sufficient and thus clearly demonstrate that the proposed TVSAR with an appropriate combination method is useful for improving the prediction performance.
