Modeling of ship motions in waves concentrates in most applications on the response amplitude operator (RAO). This mathematically not demanding method of analysis is very attractive, but loses some essential information in certain situations. The objective of present contribution is to establish and investigate preliminary foundations for a seakeeping model as optimal for under keel clearance (UKC) estimation. A special attention was devoted to transients of motions, stationary harmonic motions, coupling between degrees of freedom, and the wave force transfer functions – all in the aspect of shallow water environment.

Opis:
Polish market of small boats has been developed very dynamically in recent years. Market competition forces the shipyards to build new more efficient hull forms and to cut the cost of production as well. This is why modern computer simulation programs are used more often by naval architects. Another trend is to design more universal ships that may be used by larger number of diversified customers. This paper presents project proposal of multipurpose boat hull form. The boat was design to fulfil the requirements imposed by public services like water police, fire brigades, and border guards. It is supposed to be operated on unexplored floodplains and other type shallow waters. The analysis of boat’s motion was based on computer simulations. The resistance curve was evaluated with two methods: comparison study of model test results of similar ships and CFD methods. The results obtained from Ansys Fluent and FINE/Marine systems were compared in this paper. It was shown that taking into consideration dynamic trim and sinkage has a significant impact on free surface capture and resistance values.

W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienia związane z badaniem własności dynamicznych pocisku rakietowego. Przedstawiono realizację badań zgodnie z następującą kolejnością: badania teoretyczne, eksperymentalne oraz weryfikacja. Stosując zasady modelowania, opisano budowę i dane techniczne pocisku rakietowego oraz wykorzystując program PRODAS, opracowano model fizyczny pocisku, w oparciu o który przeprowadzono badania symulacyjne. Wyznaczono charakterystyki masowe, aerodynamiczne oraz podstawowe parametry toru lotu. Następnie omówiono badania doświadczalne podstawowych charakterystyk dynamicznych. Porównanie wyników uzyskanych z badań eksperymentalnych i teoretycznych świadczy o poprawności opracowanego modelu.
The paper has been intended to present the issues of studying dynamic properties of a rocket projectile. The study has been carried out and presented as the following sequence: theoretical analyses, experimental testing works, and their verification. With the theory of modelling applied, a physical model of a rocket projectile has been generated. A mathematical model has been formulated using the PRODAS software. With the latter one as the basis, simulation-based analyses have been made. Mass and aerodynamic characteristics and the most essential parameters of the flight path/trajectory have been found. What follows is the discussion of the experimental study of fundamental dynamic characteristics. Comparison of theoretically found results and those gained experimentally proves the generated model to be correct.

In the article the results of simulation and experimental studies of the movement of a four-wheeled mobile platform, taking into account wheel slip have been presented. The simulation results have been based on the dynamics of the four-wheel mobile platform. The dynamic model of the system motion takes into account the relationship between the active and passive forces accompanying the platform motion, especially during wheel slip. The formulated initial problem describing the motion of the system has been solved by the Runge-Kutta method of the fourth order. The proposed computational model including the platform dynamics model has been verified in experimental studies using the LEO Rover robot. The motion parameters obtained on the basis of the adopted computational model in the form of trajectories, velocities and accelerations have been compared with the results of experimental tests, and the results of this comparison have been included in the paper. The proposed computational model can be useful in various situations, e.g., real-time control, where models with a high degree of complexity are useless due to the computation time. The simulation results obtained on the basis of the proposed model are sufficiently compatible with the results of experimental tests of motion parameters obtained for the selected type of mobile robot.

The goal of the paper is to investigate the role of motion in Force Dynamics, a framework developed by Talmy (1976, 1988, 2000) and adopted by, for example, Sweetser (1982, 1991), Johnson (1987), Pinker (1989, 1997), Jackendoff (1990) and Brandt (1992). To this aim, descriptions of force-dynamic schemas (gestalts) by Johnson (1987) and Talmy (2000) were analysed to prove that both authors often use the word force metonymically to refer to motion or, more specifically, to the moving object, its velocity or trajectory, which accounts for vagueness and sometimes even inaccuracy of description. The conclusions of our study were then applied to the analysis of 50 metaphors of motion, which showed that all of them can be characterised by just four force-motion schemas, differing from one another in terms of continuity, application of forces, as well as spatial and temporal constraints of motion.

Celem pracy jest zaprezentowanie sprawdzenia poprawności tezy, czy możliwe jest określenie wartości chwilowych mocy pojazdu pod kątem ich wykorzystania do wyznaczenia charakterystyki mechanicznej silnika spalinowego, elektrycznego lub napędu hybrydowego, podczas eksperymentów ruchowych pojazdu. Artykuł poświęcony jest różnym sposobom przetwarzania danych pomiarowych, uzyskanych z akcelerometru 3D w trakcie ruchu pojazdu.
Currently, accelerometers are installed in the majority of commercially available smartphones. The paper proposes the use of a 3D accelerometer installed in a smartphone to measure vehicle motion parameters. The measured values obtained were subjected to filtration using an approximation of the spline function, so that they could be used for further testing. The main purpose of the work is to check if it is possible to estimate the instantaneous power of the vehicle, which can be used to determine the mechanical characteristics of an internal combustion engine, electric engine or hybrid drive during physical experiments. The tests carried out allowed the estimation of vehicle motion parameters.

Currently, triaxial (3D) accelerometers are installed in every smartphone, so paper proposes to use such an accelerometer in vehicle motion measurement. The work describes a conception of the utilization of 3D accelerometer in smartphone to the determination of the car speed and the estimation of a power on the vehicle wheels. The analysis of the results was conducted based on road measurements. The basic issues which were discussed: calibration of acceleration sensor and processing of acceleration signals with variable sampling time resulting from the properties of the smartphone operating system. The smartphone (iPhone 4s) uses the accelerometer LIS331DLH (in Microelectromechanical systems technology MEMS) 12-bit analog-to-digital converter for ±2g range. Moreover, the iOS system (ver. 9.3.5) was chosen because of the more stable sampling time than in the Android system. The article presents the following signal processing: 3D acceleration → longitudinal vehicle acceleration → vehicle speed →resultant power → power transmitted from the propulsion system.
Praca opisuje koncepcję wykorzystania akcelerometru trójosiowego, instalowanego w smartphonie, do pomiaru prędkości pojazdu samochodowego oraz oszacowania mocy napędu przekazywanej na koła pojazdu. Analizę wyników przeprowadzono na podstawie pomiarów drogowych. Podstawowymi opisywanymi zagadnieniami są: kalibracja czujnika przyspieszenia oraz przetwarzanie sygnałów przyspieszenia o zmiennym czasie próbkowania urządzenia mobilnego.

W pracy przedstawiono opis zdalnie sterowanego modelu samochodu ciężarowego, który przystosowano do badań dynamiki ruchu. Konstrukcja pojazdu odzwierciedla wszystkie ważniejsze zespoły układu przeniesienia napędu, zawieszeń i układu kierowniczego. Dzięki odpowiedniej budowie można ustalać położenie środka masy. Model wyposażono w czujniki przyspieszeń x-y, których wskazania są przesyłane telemetrycznie do przenośnego komputera. W publikacji przedstawiono wyniki badań gwałtownego skrętu na płaszczyźnie i jazdy po okręgu na płaskiej nawierzchni o stałym nachyleniu.
A remote controlled model of a car is described in the paper. The model can be used to preliminary simulating investigations of the car movement. The vehicle model simulates all the most important components of the transmission, suspension and steering system. Owing to a suitable structure it is possible to change the position of the vehicle mass center. The model is equipped with the indicator of the danger of overturning and the sensors of the longitudinal and transverse accelerations, whose read-outs are transmitted telemetrically to a portable computer. It was fixed that the indicator begins its function when the established margin of accelerations is crossed. The modulation of acoustic and optical indicator signals increases with approaching to the limit of overturn of the vehicle. Authors analyze the matter of possible faults of registered movement parameters of the car as can mainly appear from the lack of the similarity of the stiffness of tires, suspensions and the bearing constructions of the vehicle. However, because of very high investigation costs of real car the model investigation can be applied instead of preliminary investigations of real object. Investigations of the indicator of exceeding the limiting lateral accelerations worked out by authors are introduced in the paper. The crossing of acceleration limit can cause the overturning the vehicle. The paper presents test results of sharp turn on the horizontal plane and on circular path drive on a flat surface with constant slope. It was showed in the paper that one can lead functional dynamic investigations on the mobile car model in the range of preliminary investigations.

Issues of driving stability of special-purpose vehicles result from engineering compromise between need of fulfilment of operational requirements and traction correctness of a vehicle. Especially, it concerns a motion in dynamic conditions with presence of high transverse accelerations. The paper comprises description and analysis of motion stability test results of a special-purpose two-axis vehicle with kerb mass of above 12 ton, with 4WD drive system, on a circular path drive and single line-change. One described methodology of the testing, used testing-measuring instrumentation, and distribution of the instrumentation in tested vehicle. It have been included a brief descriptions of the implemented instrumentation and method of acquisition and processing of the measurement data. One has tested a vehicle with highly located and considerably moved rearward centre of gravity. Such distribution of axle loads resulted from necessity of fulfilment of operational requirements of the vehicle. In the paper are presented test results performed for nominal and reduced with 20% tyre pressure. There were analyzed runs of lateral accelerations and axle slip angles in assumed condition of motion. One formulated general conclusions on stability characteristics for such type of vehicles.

Force Dynamics of Verb ComplementationThe concepts of motion and force are both extensively discussed in cognitive linguistics literature. But they are discussed separately. The first usually in the context of ‘motion situations’ (Talmy, Slobin, Zlatev), the other as part of the Force Dynamics framework, which was developed by Talmy. The aim of this paper is twofold: first, to argue that the concepts of force and motion should not be isolated but considered as two inseparable parts of force-motion events. The second goal is to prove that the modified Force Dynamics (force-motion) framework can be used for precise characterization of the verb complementation patterns. To this end, a random sample of 50 sentences containing the verb ‘went’ is analyzed, demonstrating the differences between the categories of intensive and intransitive complementation with respect to the linguistically coded parameters of force and motion.

In particular, dynamic elasto-plastic contact is simulated by using Johnson's analytical model of spherical bodies' contact. Most dynamic models of wheeled mobile robots assume that the wheels undergo rolling without slipping, thus in general wheeled mobile robots are considered as nonholonomic systems. This paper deals with the problem of motion planning of mobile robots, whose nonholonomic constraints have been violated during the motion. The slipping phase is studied in details. A static model of interaction forces between wheels and ground is adopted by means of the singular perturbation approach [2]. A novel control theoretic framework for mobile robots subject to slipping is defined: both kinematics and dynamics of a mobile robot are modeled as a control system with outputs, the performance of a locally controllable system is nontrivial, the Jacobian of the mobile robot is defined in terms of the linear approximation to the system [36]. A novelty of the methodology consists in respecting of the analogy between the stationary and mobile robots and deriving performance characteristics from local controllability. In this paper we address the problem of motion planning by means of the Jacobian pseudo inverse algorithm. The effectiveness of the Jacobian pseudo inverse motion planning algorithm is demonstrated with reference to differential drive type robot (Pioneer 2DX) subject to slipping.

This paper presents results of the study devoted to analysis of impact of upper extremities' momentum on the jump length and analysis of selected kinematic data changes during the standing long jump. Four young sportsmen participated in the initial study. They have performed standing long jump in two measuring conditions: with and without arms swinging. Motion was captured using a 3D opto-electronic camera system SMART (BTS) and selected kinematic data were evaluated using software packages and data processing: trajectory of body centre of gravity (COG), velocity of COG, maximal vertical distance of COG, take-off angle together with momentum of upper extremities were analyzed. The data were statistically evaluated using descriptive statistics and analysis of variance. Statistical significance of the kinematic data and jump length were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test and post-hoc test (p<0.05) in Statistics toolbox of Matlab program. Statistically significant differences were assessed within intraindividual and intraclass comparison of data.
