In this paper, there are presented the main reasons and results of changes in maritime navigation. Opis:
Position coordinate measurements are an intrinsic feature of navigation. These measurements include points on vessel's trajectory and trajectory derivatives: speed vector and acceleration vector. Due to the fact that systematic and random errors occur in both mathematical model of the navigation process and in specific measuring models, there is no full congruity of the results of measurements performed by various navigational instruments and systems. This work attempts at comparing trajectories, speeds and accelerations obtained by these' navigational devices and systems. The results may be used in examining the measurement reliability and the performance correctness of navigational equipment and system. The comparison of various sources of information also enables detection and identification of systematic errors. Consequently, mathematical models of particular phenomena and processes can be verified.

Opis:
Dead reckoning is one of the oldest methods of ship's position deternrination in sea navigation. Its advantages ara autonomy and possible integration with other position determination methods, in particular with the statistical model for working out measurements of navigational paranieters. Dead reckoning makes use of basic navigational instruments that every ship is equipped with, i.e. the compass and the log. Basieally, the method pertains to calculating ship's coordinates for a defined moment of time by means of the integration of ship's speed and acceleration in the case of analogue measurements, or by calculating the increment of the coordinates from differenlial equations in the case of discrete measurements of speed or acceleration. The present position is determined as a sum of the coordinates increments.

W artykule przedstawiono budowę, zasady kalibracji układu pomiarowego oraz zasady pomiaru parametru nawigacyjnego, jakim jest wartość przesunięcia kątowego dwuczęstotliwościowego żyroskopu laserowego. Przedstawiono również możliwości wykorzystania dwuczęstotliwościowego żyroskopu laserowego w nawigacji morskiej.
The paper presents the structure, principles of calibration of measurement system and principles of measurement of navigational parameter, which is the magnitude of angle shift in a double-frequency laser gyroscope. It also shows the possibility of using the double-frequency gyroscope in marine navigation.

The paper presents the results of research on the possibilities of fixing ship position coordinates based on results of surveying bearings on navigational marks with the use of the CCD camera. Accuracy of the determination of ship position coordinates, expressed in terms of the mean error, was assumed to be the basic criterion of this estimation. The first part of the paper describes the method of the determination of the resolution and the mean error of the angle measurement, taken with a camera, and also the method of the determination of the mean error of position coordinates when two or more bearings were measured. There have been defined three software applications assigned for the development of navigational sea charts with accuracy areas mapped on. The second part contains the results of studying accuracy in fixing ship position coordinates, carried out in the Gulf of Gdansk, with the use of bearings taken obtained with the Rolleiflex and Sony cameras. The results are presented in a form of diagrams of the mean error of angle measurement, also in the form of navigational charts with accuracy fields mapped on. In the final part, basing on results obtained, the applicability of CCD cameras in automation of coastal navigation performance process is discussed.
W artykule przedstawiono opis badan mających na celu ustalenie możliwości określania współrzędnych pozycji statku z wyników pomiarów namiarów optycznych na znaki nawigacyjne wykonanych kamera CCD. Jako podstawowe kryterium przyjęto dokładność określania współrzędnych pozycji statku zwymiarowana wartością błędu średniego. W pierwszej części artykułu przedstawiono metodę wyznaczania rozdzielczości i błędu średniego pomiaru kata kamera oraz metodę wyznaczania błędu średniego współrzędnych pozycji z dwóch i więcej namiarów. Opisano trzy aplikacje programowe służące do przygotowywania morskich map nawigacyjnych z naniesionymi obszarami dokładności. W drugiej części zaprezentowano wyniki z badania dokładności określania współrzędnych pozycji statku na Zatoce Gdańskiej z namiarów zmierzonych kamera firmy Rolleiflex i Sony. Ukazano je w postaci wykresów błędu średniego pomiaru kata oraz w postaci morskich map nawigacyjnych z naniesionymi obszarami dokładności. W części końcowej, opierając się na wynikach badan przeprowadzono dyskusje dotyczącą oceny przydatności kamer CCD do automatyzacji procesu prowadzenia morskiej nawigacji przybrzeżnej.

Opis:
Determination of spatial orientation of sounding vessel is an essential problem from determination of acoustic wave reflection points in geodesic bathymetric surveys radiated by an echosounder point of view. Pitching, rolling and yawing as a result of wind, wavy motion and vessel movement determine the outlet angle of acoustic wave, trajectory of acoustic ray as a result of refraction, location of reflection point and determined depth on the basis of the distance between the transducer and reflection point measured by the echosounder. In the paper possibilities analyse of floating core fluxgate's application for determination of spatial orientation of sounding vessel have been presented. Compensation of pitching and rolling have only been presented because of sensor limitation.

W artykule opisano różnego rodzaju domeny statku. Omówiono domeny o zróżnicowanych kształtach i wymiarach (2D–3D), stosowanych w różnych fazach żeglugi morskiej. Przedstawiono domeny jako narzędzia w nawigacji morskiej do oceny ryzyka w nawigacji. Omówiono również wykorzystanie domen w celu zwiększenia poziomu bezpieczeństwa nawigacyjnego w rejonach nawigacyjnie trudnych do żeglugi w pobliżu niebezpieczeństw nawigacyjnych.
In this paper different kind of ship domain has been defined and described. Different dimensions and shapes of ship domain (2D–3D) used in all phases of navigation has been discussed. The ship domain as a tool in navigation for assessing the risk in navigation has been given. How to use the ship domain to increase safety of navigation in restricted waters has been discussed.

The most essential outcome of theoretical studies and selected numerical analyses, presented in this work, are the suggestions related to the technology of producing and working out the results of observations, carried out in the Interactive Navigational Structures. Implementing such a Structure into navigation practice will enable supporting the positioning process by taking use of objects, which until present, in classic navigation, have been omitted due to a lack of information about their coordinates. Establishing and dynamic developing the Interactive Navigational Structures is of special importance, in case the available positioning systems appear insufficient (e.g. in submarine navigation or any work of special character). IANS can be based on various systems and navigational observations, including the satellite GPS systems. Selection of an observational model, accommodated to any current navigational situation, is simplified owing to the decisive functions, recommended in the work; applying the above functions, in conjunction with the functions of attenuation, has resulted in making more efficient the process of estimation, robust for out-lying observations. Due to diversity of the observations sets and the "by stages" way of working them out, the estimation is of sequential character (sequential robust estimation). The adjustment task, formulated and resolved in this work, has been related to the method and adjusted to the IANS chain being under development. The fundamental elements of this task's function of target are, the suggested in the work, the equivalent-decisive covariance matrix and equivalent-decisive weights matrix, both connected by statistical model. The method of identification of not only out-lying observations but also out-lying adjustment points and neutralization of an influence thereof is also advised in the work; the method has been resulted from free adjustment and M-estimation principles. The method, named hybrid M-estimation, can make a great difference specially in extreme navigation conditions, carried out basing intensely on points of the set R. The numerical tests, described in Chapter 6, refer to simulation of elementary navigational situations, connected with developing IANS and using thereof. They are to illustrate principal properties of the suggested conceptions. The results of the first of the tests have confirmed a possibility of taking use of the recommended structures in some special tasks of navigation at sea. Extremely interesting properties (the second test), first of all those of robust character, were revealed by hybrid M-estimation. The obtained results have proved that there is a chance to carry out reliable navigation, being compelled only to applying of IANS. The presented conceptions have been basically completed in respect of the theory concerning establishing, developing and mathematical working out the Interactive Navigational Structures. However, the work is incomprehensive in regard to practical implementation of the displayed models. For example, there is a possibility to use the described structures in submarine navigation. A lack of any classic navigational systems in sea depth has been forcing to seek new solutions, as the Interactive Navigational Structure is. The above solutions may also be extensively employed in radar navigation. Radar observations are often biased with gross errors, caused by radar echo generation technique. The robust estimation, if applied in the version presented in this work, may significantly improve final determinations' standard. The recommended mathematical models and methods of their parameters evaluation are applicable to maritime navigation under a certain condition. The available at present nautical information about navigational signing elements should be complemented. All the suggested solutions may not be in today's situation fully exercised (especially hybrid M-estimation) due to a lack of information about covariance matrixes or at least about errors of determining coordinates of stable and floating navigational signs, embraced by any optional navigational system.

Polska szkoła inżynierii ruchu morskiego powstała w Szczecinie 30 lat temu, gdzie utworzony został Instytut Inżynierii Ruchu Morskiego zajmujący się tymi problemami. W artykule zostały przedstawione wybrane problemy inżynierii ruchu morskiego takie, jak: - ocena bezpieczeństwa nawigacji na akwenach ograniczonych, - optymalizacja parametrów dróg wodnych, - projektowanie pilotowych systemów nawigacyjnych.
Marine traffic engineering is a relatively new scientific specialty, which emerged inn the 70's. The Polish school of marine traffic engineering arose in Szczecin 30 years ago, where the Institute of Marine Traffic Engineering was created, preoccupied with these problems. The article presents selected problems of marine traffic engineering, such as: - safety assessment of navigation in restricted areas, - optimizing of waterway parameters, - designing pilot navigational systems.
