Opis:
Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the staple food of more than half of the world population. However, its production is facing several biotic constraints. Among serious biotic factors that harm rice crops, the Helminthosporium disease has severe adverse impacts on rice yield, generating heavy losses of up to 90%. Four Bipolaris oryzae isolates were recovered for the first time from leaf lesions in the weed species Typha latifolia, and then subjected to pathogenicity tests on several rice varieties. The results indicated that Moroccan isolates of B. oryzae altered the leaf surface of five rice varieties tested. Among four isolates, Hor4 was the most pathogenic, showing high aggressiveness on the Cererrer and Elio varieties, with disease severity of 92.59%, followed by the Hor1, Hor2, and Hor3 isolates. The Arpa variety showed higher resistance to the Hor1 isolate, with a severity index of 35.18%. Through mycelial cutting or conidial suspension, B. oryzae isolated from T. latifolia was able to produce conidia on the leaves of this weed species.

A high-resolution correlation of ten upper Givetian-Frasnian sections spread over the differ ent facies environments of the Eastern Anti-Atlas (Morocco) is established using graphic correlation. The mea sured strati graphic ranges of eighty-five cono dont taxa have been as sem bled into a chronostratigraphic framework. The developed regional composite subdivides the Frasnian into 501 composite standard units (CSU) based on the original thickness of the reference section (Bou Tchrafine). This is a higher resolution than obtained by the classic biozone correlation. Based on the conodont data available for this correlation project, the jamieae and Lower rhenana zones could not be recognised in the sections.

Ceuta and Melilla, are the last European territories which are left on the African mainland. They are largely unknown to Europeans, other than to Spaniards for whom they present a legacy from the country's military past. Once of the strategic significance owing to their close location to the Strait of Gibraltar, the two towns have gained new importance over the last 10 years as major migration gateways to Europe from the Maghreb and Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as centres for contraband. Ceuta and Melilla (unvaryingly twinned as diplomatic issues) together with a series of rocks and small islands, are claimed by Morocco despite being Spanish possessions for centuries. In the article is described Morocco-Spanish border, the conflict on the island of Leila/Perejil, Morocco-Spanish relations on the background details of the king of Spain Jose Carlos in Ceuta and Melilla, and the problem of immigration from African countries.

Opis:
The key issue of the analysis, concentrated on the dystopia by Juan Goytisolo, Makbara, is the condition of human sexual body which, in terms proposed by Baudrillard, can be qualified as post-orgiastic. While an asexual, aseptic social system is created in the modern, civilized Europe, Morocco seems to be the last refuge not only for the marginalized sexuality, but also for the romantic dreams about marriage. Nonetheless, the Moroccan promise of authentic eroticism acquires a necrophilic flavour of “love at the cemetery”. In the conclusion, Goytisolo is shown as the advocate of a dying, spectral culture, victim of unceasing, manifold exploitation and unable to counterbalance the European symbolic and economic predominance in the Mediterranean.

The subject of the article is an analysis of changes in the environment and economy of oases in southern Morocco, on the basis of a case study of Mhamid. The conclusions are that water investments carried out in the Draa Valley intensified the desertification process. This is exemplified by a stronger aeolian deflation, worsening living conditions of the population, limiting of arable areas and finally, migration. Paradoxically, because of desertification, the region has a chance to develop economically because the newly created sand dunes fields stimulate development of tourism.

The paper shows some aspects of ‘border identity’ of the two Spanish cities-exclaves: Ceuta and Melilla. It analyses the multicultural dimensions of coexistence between Muslim (Moroccan) and Spanish populations. The article refers to some political, social and economic challenges: Moroccan revindication policy, growing number of Muslim communities, illegal migration, the phenomenon of violent radicalization inspired by the jihadi ideology etc. In this context, the paper focuses on the most important elements of ‘the border identity’ which are crucial to further the understanding of social problems in these cities. The methodological analysis is based on the integration of historical and system methods as well as scientific research and investigation conducted in Spain. Regarding some integration and inclusion efforts there are still unsolved social and economic problems that may have influence on the coexistence of different ethnocultural communities in the future.

Opis:
Reading acquisition disorders constitute the main problem in children's learning. in Morocco, epidemiological data are very rare. Research, mainly in the English language, concerns either the sociological or the cognitive field. Few studies, among them not one in Arabic, have explored the link relating to social and cognitive factors. The purpose of our work is to study and analyze the cognitive and social variables related to different reading skills among Moroccan pupils in primary and secondary public schools. From a sample of 754 learners (388 boys and 366 girls) ranging in age from 9 to 15 years with an average of 11.59 years, the diagnostic tests identified 145 students with deficient skills "Bad readers (BR)," 128 suspected of being in difficulty classified as « intermediate level (IL) » and a group of 481 children as good readers ( GR). Statistical analyses have shown that the first two groups (BR and IL) represent 24% in the favoured areas compared to 43% in the disadvantaged. The analysis of scores and the nature of the errors made on various reading tests show that 41 students, or 5.43% of our sample, present a dyslexia profile. 13 (1.72%) of whom have very severe difficulties. The phonological aptitudes (Rapid automatized naming, phonological short-time memory and especially phonological awareness) mainly reflect the level of reading. These phonological abilities are highly influenced by early attendance of preschool and by the degree of exposure to written language at home. These data, which are unique in Morocco, are consistent to that of the published subject literature. They make it possible to plan preventive actions by generalizing pre-school teaching, particularly in precarious environments. These actions should be based on playful exercises aimed at improving phonological abilities at an early age, while exploiting the brain sensitivity to reading at that age. Phonological awareness and rapid naming are the most implicated factors in the disparity of reading skills. These abilities are highly influenced by the integration of preschool at a very early age and by the degree of exposure to written language activities. Therefore, there is a need to plan preventive actions, based on playful exercises, aiming to improve phonological skills from the pre-school period

Opis:
The serious game “JeStiMulE” (Educational Game for Multisensory Stimulation of Children with developmental disorders), developed by the Autism Resources Center of Nice, was created to teach social cognition including emotion recognition for children and adolescents with autism. The purpose of our study is to investigate the effectiveness of the serious game JESTIMULE in remediating recognition’ deficits of emotional facial expressions (EFE) in autistic children. Thirty-two Moroccan children and adolescents were recruited for this study. All participants received a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Diseases, Fourth Edition (DSM-IV-R) criteria for ASD, as well as the Rimland Checklist E2. IQ level has been assessed by using Raven’s Progressive Matrices as an IQ testing scale. The par ticipants received two one-hour JeStiMulE sessions per week over four weeks. Game data were collected for each participant. The Faces test was used to quantify the progression of the ability to recognize emotions in our subjects. The results of the descriptive analyses showed suitable adaptability, effectiveness and efficiency of JeStiMulE. In Faces test, a significant difference between scores of the Pre-intervention and Post-intervention (Z= -3.58, p<0.001), in favour of the Post-intervention (M=23.22, SD=2.96 versus M=27.27, SD=2.77). That indicate that participants were more accurate at recognizing emotions after JeStiMulE. In addition, a main effect of type of autism was found for the facial scale (H = 6.673, ddl = 2, p = 0.036). High-functioning autism were significantly better than Low-functioning autism at recognizing emotions from faces in both Pre-intervention and Post-intervention. With such non-verbal tool, training could start early. Thus, early management, the more the progression in the recognition and imitation of facial expressions is important, the more we gain autonomy and social integration just in time to begin school. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Opis:
The article is devoted to the beginnings and religious practice of the Sufi Nāṣiriyya brotherhood, a branch of Šāḏiliyya. The brotherhood was established in the 17th century in southern Morocco, and its main religious and intellectual center from the very beginning was the town of Tāmkrūt, where a zāwiya still exists today with its famous library of manuscripts. The brotherhood was founded by Maḥammad Ibn Nāṣir, known as Ibn Nāṣir ad-Darʻī (1603–1674), whose son established the central role of Tāmkrūt and can thus be regarded as the founder of this ṭarīqa. He continued the work of his father, and Nāṣiriyya spread fairly quickly across the Maghrib as its followers also created zāwiyas in today’s Tunisia and Algeria. Although Nāṣiriyya’s roots go back as far as the son of Abū Ṭālib, Ǧaʿfar, it is an orthodox Sunni brotherhood that adheres to the Maliki law school, strongly connected to the central authorities of Morocco. The article also presents the figure of Ibn Nāṣir, a widely recognized mystic and theologian, and a Muslim lawyer. His main work is Al-Aǧwiba an-Nāṣiriyya [“An-Nāṣirī’s Response”] a text of predominantly legal character. However, his prayer in verse, known widely as Sayf Ibn Nāṣir [“The Sword of Ibn Nāṣir”] is especially popular. The article also dedicates a few paragraphs to his son, Aḥmad al-Ḫalīfa. Further in the article, an outline is provided concerning the mystical rituals of Nāṣiriyya, originating from the brotherhood’s founder.

The aim of this article is to present the threats and opportunities in the fields of education and the professional situation of Moroccans, especially young people who both try to find their place on the local labor market and emigrate mainly to Western European countries, largely to France, Spain and Italy, seeking stabilization. The recent reforms and unilateral or multilateral initiatives of international consortia, governments, agencies, and non-governmental organizations operating globally and locally are a chance to create a most stable labor market for young people. Often these are micro-scale activities, but the activation and professional support on a micro scale may translate into the effects of improving quality on a macro scale, throughout the country. This article was prepared on the basis of international reports of OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development), UNESCO, EU national studies, articles and press reports as well as information on the home pages of institutions and organizations such as USAID (United States Agency for International Development) or NED (The National Endowment for Democracy)

Sixty brachiopod species are reported from the Taboumakhlouf Formation (upper Eifelian) and the Bou Dib Formation (upper Eifelian to Givetian) of Jbel Issoumour, northern Maïder, Anti-Atlas, Morocco, on the basis of collections made by Volker Ebbighausen. The stratigraphy is based on reports of co-occurring trilobite assemblages. The relatively diversified fauna pre-dates the Taghanic event and is dominated in terms of diversity by atrypides and rhynchonellides (11 species each); other frequent species include Poloniproductus varians, Aulacella prisca, Tyersella tetragona, Schizophoria schnuri, Athyris ex gr. concentrica, Yeothyris? sinuata, and Thomasaria simplex. Spinatrypa ennigaldinannae Halamski and Baliński sp. nov. from the upper Eifelian is characterised by a transverse shell, typically 16–18 mm wide with 19–22 ribs. Prodavidsonia ebbigahuseni Halamski and Baliński sp. nov. differs from other representatives of the genus in having nearly flat shells. Eressella coronata Halamski and Baliński, nom. nov. is proposed as a replacement name for the permanently invalid Rhynchonella coronata Kayser, 1871 (non R. coronata Moore, 1861). Thomasaria simplex is documented as being a particularly variable species (costation, tongue, interarea position), so its broad taxonomic treatment is favoured. The brachiopod fauna shows distinct Rhenish affinities (numerous species in common with the Eifel and the Holy Cross Mountains) like the coeval fauna from southern Maïder, described previously. The Middle Devonian brachiopod fauna from the whole Maïder (north, described here and south, described previously) totals 87 species.

The paper includes a taxonomic revision of four externally similar Middle Devonian rhynchonellide species from northwestern Africa (Maïder, Tindouf Syncline) and Central Europe (Eifel, Bergisches Land, Holy Cross Mts.), considered in recent papers as representatives of Kransia Westbroek, 1967 or Nalivkinaria Rzhonsnitskaya, 1968. All four possess a septalium and a multilamellate cardinal process, the assignment to Nalivkinaria, having a bifid cardinal process, is therefore clearly inappropriate. Lebanzuella? issoumourensis (Drot, 1971) is present in the Givetian of Africa; two subspecies, L.? issoumourensis issoumourensis from Jbel Issoumour and L.? issoumourensis smarensis ssp. nov. from Western Sahara, are distinguished by their biometric characteristics. The other two species are included in Kransia (Fatimaerhynchia) subgen. nov. differing from Kransia (K.) in the presence of a septalium; the occurrence of such a variable structure is considered to be justification for distinction at the subgenus level. Kransia (Fatimaerhynchia) goldfussii (Schnur, 1853) is an Eifelian species. Kransia (Fatimaerhynchia?) aff. goldfussii from the Givetian of Bilveringsen is a separate species (larger, more transverse, more strongly ornamented), which is not described because of insufficient material. Kransia (Fatimaerhynchia) signata (Schnur, 1851) is present in the Middle Devonian of Jbel Issoumour, the middle Eifelian of the Eifel and the (upper?) Givetian of the Holy Cross Mountains.
